Samuel Gordon Jewelers is closing its doors after 111 years of business in Oklahoma City.

The business was founded in 1904 by Lithuanian immigrant Samuel Gordon, who opened the jeweler’s first location in downtown Oklahoma City.

Gary Gordon, who will turn 68 years old next month, said he is closing the business so he can retire.


It's sad that after so many years they can't find some way to keep it in operation.

Alan Gordon (founder of Alan Gordon and Son) was Samuel Gordon's son. Gary Gordon's uncle. Gary Gordon is Samuel Gordon's grandson. It's a shame to see such a venerable company come to an end. SGJ joins Crescent Market (RIP) in history's dustbin. Both were among very few territorial (pre-statehood) companies remaining in OKC. Bummer.
