There are many informed & talented posters on the OKCTALK forum; let's keep these discussions focused. Pete has provided us with this vehicle where opinions, attitudes, beliefs & ideas can be discussed in a civil manner--we can agree that it is okay to disagree.

It's also a vehicle where opinions can be discussed without the same tired schtick, belly aching and instigating that is evident from one poster in this thread.

0-0 draw against STLFC. The team hasn't won since June 13th and draws are starting to feel like losses. Gotta start getting 3 points in these matches.

Anyone up at SKC not seeing anytime that they may think of sending down that could help us in the playoff push?

It would be nice. Based on what is known about MLB, NBA, NHL, the farm affiliation just doesn't work that way with development teams. As to how it works with MLS-USL soccer affiliation like what we have with Sporting Kansas City--it's difficult to tell.

Sporting Kansas City is 4th in the Western Conference just 1 point behind L.A. Galaxy.

Standings | MLSsoccer.com (http://www.mlssoccer.com/standings)

Let's hope they don't call a key player up to the SKC roster like Danni Konig, who has scored 14 of the Energy FC's 27 goals.

Won't happen, I believe. They can only call up the guys actually under contract with SKC, which I am not sure SKC is currently using any of the 3 (?) spots they can allocate players to in the Energy.

Correct me if I am horribly wrong, I am just going off memory and not double checking.

You're right. They haven't assigned anyone here since I believe Christian Duke a couple weeks ago.

Mikey Lopez was the only other one we've had this year I think. Last year it was Jimmy Medranda (sp?) and Kempin for half the season.

We had Lopez and Duke last year at different times as well. But yeah, they haven't utilized it nearly as much this year as they did last year. I read somewhere that they were thinking of doing what a lot of other teams have and start their own USL side.

I just wonder how long OKC fans will want to continue to support a minor league team? I think the supporters group was very excited to do it in the beginning with the thought that we'd eventually see an MLS team. How long to people continue to care about the Energy if they are just a mediocre minor league team? I can tell you, at this moment, I don't think I'll be renewing my season tickets next year. Especially considering they went up after a season where the team didn't make the playoffs.

I have seen zero evidence that Prodigal or OKC in general are actually trying to do anything to get MLS to take notice. It is very apparent that Sacramento is. Why aren't we doing similar things?

I can tell you with 99% certainty the tickets are going down next year. A friend of ours who has had tickets both seasons (west side last year, east side this year) was told by their ticket rep that the seats are going down. Good, right now they're ridiculous.

Lopez and Duke are still on the roster. Lopez hasn't played for ages and Duke, in my opinion, is just not a very good back. Too many mistakes and doesn't cross the ball very well.

It was a curious move to put him on the backline I thought. It does say something though about the improved talent level of the roster, because last year before his injury I thought Duke was one of the better players on the team.

It doesn't work that way. They cannot call up our players, they can only recall players they have sent down to us.

Christian Duke didn't make the SKC team this year and is under contract with the Energy. Last year he was under contract with SKC and was loaned to us. The only player SKC has loaned us this year is Mikey Lopez and he's up in KC rehabbing an injury. I wish they would send us down a few players who aren't getting on the field currently.

Thanks, I knew he wasn't with us, just not sure why.

And yes, I'd gladly take a few guys. Erik Palmer-Brown would be nice.

This is what I said from the beginning. If you want to support the energy, then do that. But DON'T do it because you think that they are a ladder to MLS. Do it because you enjoy THEM. And Prodigal, and every other Ass-Clown ownership group that continually dangles the "We're Going To MLS!" carrot in front of people should be buried up to their necks in an ant hill.

From what I have heard from talking to some coaches is that Jimmy doesn't really want too many guys if any to come from SKC. He wants to grow the team naturally and not have to rely on SKC to bail us out with a loan of a player.

I can't speak for the supporters group, but my friends and I are there every home game, every Tulsa game and some even went to the Dallas game. We don't go because we "might" get an MLS team, we go to support the players and the team. We have gotten to know some of the players personally and want nothing more for them to succeed in what ever capacity that may be. I actually hate it when they say they are trying to build an MLS caliber team, look you're in the USL so build that up and quit reaching, the MLS will come if we show the support. Don't mean to bust people's bubbles but an MLS side here is a pipe dream right now, let's just be happy with what we have and go out and support some local soccer.

I'm absolutely on board with this mindset, both as a fan, and in agreement with Jimmy's vision for the team.

I am pretty sure one of the reasons that he doesn't want SKC's help is because the affiliation will be gone soon. SKC is going to have a "2" in the near future.

Their pricing is strange. They have an online deal for each game where you can get four tickets on the shade side with eight beer vouchers for $80 total. Or, as you stated, you can spend $10 more the day of the game for half as many seats and no beer.

We went once, and bought the tickets that turned out to be the "sun" side. Around halftime we wandered over to the "shade" side and no one stopped us. I plan to buy the cheap-o tix next time and just sit where we please. Actually I've done that with the baseball stadium in Bricktown, just buy the "get-in" lawn seats, wander around for awhile then go sit somewhere where you're not supposed to.

Dalgaard's goal last night was filthy. You probably couldn't tell unless you were sitting in the west stands, but it was similar to Jermaine Jones' goal vs. Portugal in the World Cup last year. Started well outside the frame of goal and curled in.

I actually don't think I've ever seen those guys. It took awhile for them to get the timing with their drums down but I'm sure if they show up more then they will start to learn the chants and the timing for them. Would love to get more of the Hispanic community in the supporters section.

And it still bothers the hell out of you that your team;
a. Wasn't smart enough to give some tickets away to get people in the door
b. Even if they DID give away 3500 tickets per game, their PAID attendance was still twice what the barons got.
c. Couldn't even get people to come when they gave away a car.
d. Nobody even cares that they're gone.
e. Actually, nobody even cared that they were here in the first place

Portland was a chippy game last time when they were here (IIRC). I didn't mind some of the lineup changes on Tuesday. Greig provides a good hold up option opposite of Konig.

One of the things I liked about the game against Los Dos is other people scoring goals. When we were on the hot streak a while back goals were coming from other players besides just Konig so it's a good sign to get others involved. I hope Konig continues to score goals though too, he is seven goals away from beating the USL record for goals scored in a single season.

borchard

I'm not sure. And I won't know until there is an actual OFFICIAL announcement at a press conference. I've heard NOTHING from OKCFC. The NASL even took down their logo from the website. And now this. Looking at it from a glass-half-full opinion it means one of the big clubs, in one of the biggest leagues int he world, think Oklahoma City is the right place for them to plant their flag to grow, not only soccer, but their brand as well. It would mean actual world-class players could be plying their trade here. It could mean that Rayo may come here to play friendlies.
Or, it could mean that they bought the rights to the team, and they are going to put it somewhere else. Really up in the air right now. This came out of left field.

I'm really trying to understand what this is all about. It's like an attempt to put a large jigsaw puzzle together with some of the pieces missing.

Do understand this much: As Bouchard mentioned; there are so many different scenarios at this point, you just don't know what to make of this.

What Devil lies (no pun intended) in these details?
