How sad & unfortunate for the NASL Oklahoma City FC? Reminds me of that final round when Sonny Liston sat there in his seat and couldn't come out against Muhammad Ali.

Man, that was quick. Like a marquee fight and the challenger couldn't answer the opening bell--the referee never got the chance to bring the fighters together.

Did one of Sonny Liston's trainers go over to Ali's corner between rounds? Did he also take Liston's mouthpiece with him and give it to Ali?
And did all his followers say that by stealing his mouthpiece, and joining Ali's corner, that he was "uniting all boxing fans"?
That's more apt of an analogy. I think ;-)
I really like reading Laramie's things. Unlike the rest of us, he seems to always keeps his objectivity when reporting on something.

With perfect weather Saturday night, how was the crowd?

Not near what opening week was, but still about what last years crowds were (4,000+).

As far as the game, I thought we were gonna roll them up early, but then we continued our tradition of giving up SOFT goals and not converting open chances.

Also, the ref was a little too lenient. We have had that guy red our COASL games and for us he is great because he lets us play and does t call very little thing, but for this level that lets things get out of control and that came to head in the second half. Still though, we have to take advantage of chances when they are there.

He has managed to manipulate some you guys; not hijack the thread. Notice how cleverly he posted 3 consecutive replies before anyone reacted. Tell me he's not engaged in the game? The local hunger is there. The conversation is what he has hijacked...

Don't give up on him; Borchard loves soccer. Give him time...

As long as he's posting on this thread; it wouldn't surprise me that he's slowly and skillfully putting his dislike aside that he has for the Funks for the betterment of the game he so loves.

Completely don't understand why US Soccer awarded this game to FCD. They can't play in their own stadium, due to construction which has been planned for quite a while. And their BEST option(?) is to play the game 54 miles away in a stadium that only holds 1,500 people?!?! And people wonder why the USOC isn't seen as that big of a deal by the rest of the non-soccer country. the USOC SHOULD have awarded the game to OKC, if FCD couldn't come up with a better option than Garvey-Rosenthal stadium.

OKC didn't put in a bid to host any of the games. I'm not entirely sure why, but that is why it is being played in Dallas. If I understand correctly, none of the USOC matches will be held in OKC.

Oklahoma City has reached a level of transition in professional sports. The OKC Thunder as of 2014-15 season accumulated 205 consecutive sellouts which dates back to 2010-2011 (five seasons).

If OKC used the old Continental Basketball Association's Oklahoma City Calvary as a benchmark to determine our city's capacity to support a big league franchise, we would never have obtained the Thunder. The Calvary had one good season where the team averaged 5,000 fans. We thought that since the CHL Oklahoma City Blazers averaged 8,000 to 11,000 in what was seen as their lucrative years that OKC was ripe for the NHL.

The success or failure of any minor league soccer franchise should not be used as a gauge to determine if OKC is ready for Major League Soccer (MLS). Listed below are the components necessary for the next level:

1. Population
2. Facilities
3. Ownership

Until our city invests in an MLS type facility; you will continue to see minor league teams & athletes come and go. We would not have an NBA franchise if our current arena was not used as a corner stone to lure a big league franchise.

We can always use the "b-but there's just so much other stuff to do in insert city here" excuse.

Cities have used that for their teams for years. Usually for pro teams, but it's close enough.

Pete

They are now 5-2-3 and right in the thick of the division race.

But only have scored 16 goals while giving up 13.

That's a pretty tight goal differential.

Last night was great, being right there behind the goal when the Energy score is awesome.

All those early ties hurt that goal differential plus we aren't blowing anyone out, but good to get 3 points.

Michael Thomas' forehead got exploded open last night, hope he is okay.

There was no excuse for the attendance. Perfect weather. Friday night game. No Arts Festival this time. Even the supporter's section wasn't full. My wife and I both have noticed that after deluging the area with advertising last year, and even at the beginning of this year, all of a sudden Prodigal has slacked off, it seems.

That entire south grandstand is not all The Grid, it's also general admission.

I expect Friday games to have smaller crowds than Saturday. A lot of folks just want to get the F home after a week of work. We almost did, we had a griping four year old that almost forced us to miss.
