I think Taps was another one like that: good movie but great launching pad for
young actors.
I saw Taps when it came out. Maybe late 70's? I remember George C. Scott,
and Timothy Hutton, the son of a very tall actor. Except for the TV show
Leverage I can't think of another show I've seen TH in.

Was TC in Taps? I honestly don't remember. There's probably a good reason

Cruise was pretty young in Taps. Also, he was the stockiest I've ever seen him in a movie. That's him marching down the center of the hallway.

I watched "Jerry Maguire" with Prunette. Tom Cruise did a good job. He almost
owned his part, which I've never seen him do. Also, he didn't act like someone
who was acting like someone who was acting. In other words, he wasn't over
acting to the point of being nauseous, his usual schtick.

I was honestly and truly shocked. Prunette said, "I can't believe it's Tom Cruise."

Why did I watch it? We were invited to a friend's place for dinner and a
movie. I must admit, I almost faked being sick when I found out it was a
TC movie.

Yep that's one of his best roles. Earned him a Best Actor nomination (1 of his 3 Oscar nominations).
