"Wit" is the latest production of the Oklahoma City Theater Company and I had the privilege to see it tonight at the Civic Center. It's about an English professor who specializes in the sonnets of John Donne. She has terminal ovarian cancer and the play details how this very strong and assured woman gradually succumbs to the disease. Rachel Irick is amazing in the lead role as she goes through all of the emotions of dealing with the prospect of death with both humor and tears. It runs through next weekend and and I highly recommend it.

Here are a few parts of the Broadway production to give you an idea.

The review of this play in the Oklahoman mirrored my thoughts.

Review: Oklahoma City Theatre Company's version of 'Wit' makes for powerful theatrical experience | News OK (http://newsok.com/review-oklahoma-city-theatre-companys-version-of-wit-makes-for-powerful-theatrical-experience/article/5384298)

A brilliantly measured performance by Rachel Irick — trying to control and give meaning to what can’t be controlled — added up to a powerful theatrical experience at Civic Center Music Hall.

Again, it runs through this weekend.
