View Full Version : BOK Park Plaza
ShadowStrings 02-21-2017, 03:16 PM The Main Street corner won't be glass except at the ground floor level
See post # 451 of this thread
I think he's talking about the northwest corner of the garage, which does seem to be glass based on recent pictures.
_Kyle 02-23-2017, 07:00 PM I can see the crown taking shape now. http://okcweather.com
kevin lee 02-23-2017, 07:41 PM Downtown looks so much different than when they first started on the Devon tower.
OKCRT 02-23-2017, 08:20 PM Downtown looks so much different than when they first started on the Devon tower.
Yes it does and would have been much more enhanced if the Rainey Williams/OG&E/Clayco project in it's original form would have been constructed.
chuck5815 02-23-2017, 08:50 PM Found this slightly updated lobby rendering on the Pickard Chilton site:

Looks pretty similar to the lobby outside Nebu in Devon
_Kyle 02-23-2017, 09:52 PM Here`s a camera that's good to watch when its actually on BOK PP http://www.news9.com/category/201373/skycam-network#regency-tower

Devon's lobby is about as cold feeling as you can get with all that grey in there. At least there's some warmth here.
_Kyle 02-24-2017, 04:27 PM Couldn't get a picture but looks like there has been a lot of progress on the crown the last two days.
_Kyle 02-28-2017, 10:52 AM can we get a picture update?

stratosphere 03-01-2017, 08:33 AM i wish they would do a Game of Thrones style crown for this building
_Kyle 03-01-2017, 07:23 PM too fancy
_Kyle 03-08-2017, 02:31 PM Doesn't look like much has changed this last week. 13670
Bellaboo 03-09-2017, 01:18 PM Those high winds we had for 3 days may have slowed progress a bit.
It will be interesting to see how this rest of the construction unfolds.
It looks like they are finishing the core of the crown first then they might use steel to frame out the perimeter.

HangryHippo 03-10-2017, 09:11 AM Man, that garage design is ****.
David 03-10-2017, 09:49 AM I've been hoping that whatever finishing touch they put on the corner is going to make the whole design come together. Based on the other corners in the picture though, it's just a smaller glass tower?
OKCRT 03-10-2017, 11:16 PM Man, that garage design is ****.
Looks like it could be a county jail or something.
Dustin 03-11-2017, 01:14 PM How do you build a beautiful modern tower with a brutalist parking garage? What where they thinking...
Ross MacLochness 03-13-2017, 09:13 AM How do you build a beautiful modern tower with a brutalist parking garage? What where they thinking...
It's not even brutalist.. it's like plasticist

Gives brutalist a bad name.
Anonymous. 03-16-2017, 09:44 AM The view of this building from around the OKSea/Urban Johnnie area in DD really make the CBD look dense!

_Kyle 03-16-2017, 11:01 AM These are great pictures Pete, Thanks
It's looking like they will finish the core of the crown then erect steel on the perimeter before installing the final glass panels.
It seems we are pretty much at the final height, at least in the middle of the building.
Bellaboo 03-16-2017, 12:00 PM They have removed the concrete pumping boom.

So the 3 story crown is designed to virtually hide the thermal units & tentacles at the top of the BOK Park Plaza Tower.
SOONER8693 03-16-2017, 02:46 PM Looking at this from the 6th floor of a buddy's office at NW 50th and May, the girth of this building is dramatic compared to the rest of the skyline. I took a couple of pics, but, they were too blurry to really see well.
soonerwilliam 03-16-2017, 08:40 PM Not complaining but, I wish the building wasn't as wide (girth). They would have built it much taller had it been not as wide or I would think they would have.
It highly depends on your angle.
From due north or south it's quite slim.

A little taller and a little less girth would have been better IMO.
gopokes88 03-16-2017, 10:08 PM The parking garage looks better in person FWIW not great or anything but the pictures make it look worse than it actually is
Plutonic Panda 03-16-2017, 10:50 PM I would love it if this building had been taller. More room for additional skyscrapers and the existing building stock that was demolished could have been saved. This building is a fail in every way possible not the least of which is the lack of height. Oh well, it's still nice to see growth in OKC.

My office is in the same building and my window looks straight downtown. Will try to get a picture if it clears up this morning but I agree. From the northwest the building looks very "girthy" and appears to stretch the skyline to the west significantly. Now there's a big gap between BOK and the Devon tower from the northwest that will hopefully get filled in at some point in the near future.
Ross MacLochness 03-17-2017, 09:44 AM The parking garage looks better in person FWIW not great or anything but the pictures make it look worse than it actually is
whew.. I may have to disagree. To me they just look cheap and ugly. It is quite insulting. Its offensive to me as a citizen that one of our last blocks of historic buildings was destroyed for something that not only is so off scale to pedestrians and a detriment to our walkable urban fabric but also so cheap and ugly. The tower is cool and looks great in the skyline, but the project as a whole - when you are actually down there among the behemoth garages - feels like a big f-you to the people of the city.
The inconsistency of the panels on that garage makes it obvious it was put up in pieces.
I fear the same sort of system will be used on the larger and even more visible garage at Sheridan & Walker.

They should just leave the Sheridan/walker garage alone it looks fine as it is.

Pete's referring to BOKPP's "West Garage", which will be built on the NW corner of Sheridan and Walker, directly across the street from the current "Sheridan Walker Garage"

LOL the Parking Garage District really is apropos.

Haha I know. Had to edit what I'd written initially cause it felt like I kept saying "garage" too much and it was starting not to sound like a real word.

Thanks! Snapped it last night with my DJI Phantom 3. Hadn't realized how perfectly it framed the new tower and crane until I pulled it up on my computer.

turnpup 03-21-2017, 09:02 PM Cool! It almost looks like an arrow piercing through the top of the building and coming through the bottom. Or the other way around.
SOONER8693 03-21-2017, 09:07 PM The more I look at this building, the more I like it. I am impressed with how much it stretches and adds to the skyline on the western edge. I am really looking forward to it's completion and having the crown lighted at night.
_Kyle 03-21-2017, 09:07 PM This building looks better than I expected it to when I saw the preliminary images.
Laramie 03-21-2017, 11:55 PM Devon Jr. :)
The crown will give the appearance of a mini version of the Devon Tower. Can't wait to see the two towers in the night lights.

BOK Plaza (former Fidelity Bank Tower) @ 201 Robert S. Kerr Avenue
Bank of Oklahoma will occupy 100,000 sq.,ft (4 top floors & the lobby), 235 employees from 2 location--111 from Commerce Center, N. May & 124 from BOK Plaza (old Fidelity Bank Tower) & Devon Energy will use up to 250,000 sq. ft of the total 693,000 sq, ft.
ChrisHayes 03-22-2017, 05:08 AM How do you import images so that they're big like yours is Pete? Every time I've posted pictures on there, they end up really small.
bombermwc 03-22-2017, 07:42 AM My question is what are we going to do with this new extra space that is going to be in the market once they leave the old building. I think we're fresh out of companies to come in and take up the space like we had with Devon/Continental.
