View Full Version : BOK Park Plaza
ourulz2000 07-13-2016, 02:31 PM Will be nice stretching the skyline to the west coming up I35.
Will BOK be visible driving westbound on I40 (before you get to 35 south turnoff east of Bricktown)?
KayneMo 07-13-2016, 02:54 PM ^Yes, it'll be partially hidden from Devon Tower but the southern half of BOK will be visible.
From today.
10th floor almost complete; looks like the north parking structure is topped out:

Seems to be on schedule with the skeletal structure (7/8th of a floor to one floor per week); at this rate, (3rd week/July - 11th floor) we should see the top of the tower (433 ft. ) around late October or early November 2016 with a scheduled completion in 2017.
Anonymous. 07-14-2016, 02:26 PM Tall buildings and their construction freak me out... Like a whole bunch of concrete pillars filled with steel are holding up tons of mass. Weird stuff.
gman11695 07-14-2016, 02:41 PM Does anybody know when they'll add onto the tower crane? And if so, by how much??
traxx 07-14-2016, 03:14 PM Tall buildings and their construction freak me out... Like a whole bunch of concrete pillars filled with steel are holding up tons of mass. Weird stuff.
I thought I was the only one. The height of the cranes and how they work freak me out too. Especially on really tall buildings like those in Manhattan.
ChrisHayes 07-14-2016, 05:29 PM Does anybody know when they'll add onto the tower crane? And if so, by how much??
I've been waiting for that. It's gotta be pretty soon as the building is approaching the height of the crane. No way of knowing how much they'll add on. Maybe double it's height.
I was told by someone close to the construction of this project that the crane will jump 3 times (to take the first big move soon) and top out at 500 feet.
TU 'cane 07-15-2016, 08:43 AM 3 times, and if it's soon then that would average out to be a move about every 9 floors or so.
Thanks for the info and updates everyone.
gman11695 07-15-2016, 09:24 AM I found this great live cam of downtown OKC and it shows BOK starting to rise above the other buildings! OKC look amazing from this angle and that building will sure do a lot for the skyline.

Mississippi Blues 07-15-2016, 09:51 AM I decided to drive around last night to see some of the stuff going on around downtown and the mass of the BOK Park Plaza is quite impressive. I'm excited to see the finished product in person.
Laramie 07-15-2016, 10:03 AM We haven't seen this much excitement since the construction of the Devon Energy Tower.
Let's hope this is a sign of things to come with future construction to begin on the convention center, conference hotel & the future Times Square projects.

What I notice here is the abundance of green space south of the new boulevard. Can't wait to see if and how this area is developed. 5-10 years?
West parking structure starting to take shape.

ourulz2000 07-20-2016, 01:32 PM Just looked at the webcam. Has it reached Colcord height already?? How many more floors is the Renaissance than Colcord?

Can someone take the live shot of this and show us where it will top out at from this angle?
KayneMo 07-20-2016, 02:04 PM Just looked at the webcam. Has it reached Colcord height already?? How many more floors is the Renaissance than Colcord?
I think the Renaissance is 15 floors and the Colcord is 14 floors.

I didn't take a live shot but I made this with SketchUp and imported the models (BOK and 4th/Gaylord) to Google Earth.

Bellaboo 07-20-2016, 02:30 PM Will look good !
TU 'cane 07-20-2016, 04:22 PM I'm pretty sure it's already taller than Hotel Black and the Motor Hotel were, right?
And thanks Kayne. One of the striking features of this tower is definitely how long and narrow it will be, almost like a wall.

You solved two of our skyline pics; BOK Park Plaza and the Times Square recently announced project.
Impressive KayneMo, Thanks
OKCDrummer77 07-22-2016, 07:12 PM I couldn't get a pic, but I could see the (current) top 2 floors from NW 10th over I-44.
bige4ou 07-22-2016, 11:55 PM This is really moving quickly now! Wish the OG&E towers would have come true too. It would have really dramatically changed our skyline. Nonetheless this is great!

ChrisHayes 07-25-2016, 03:05 PM Good to see full panes of glass going on now too!
sooner88 07-25-2016, 03:06 PM Have there been any hints at the restaurant, or is it too early for that?

I had heard they were close with a national chain (not Yard House) but not sure if that deal was ever completed.
kevin lee 07-25-2016, 03:59 PM Does that look about the same as the Devon glass in person?
catch22 07-25-2016, 06:34 PM I had heard they were close with a national chain (not Yard House) but not sure if that deal was ever completed.
Too bad it's not the Yard House, went there in Portland for my birthday and had a great meal.

It's really starting to take shape! Exciting! I really wish the OG&E towers would have been realized. Surely (in the near future) they will still need and want to build a tower downtown?

I'd rather have our current downtown buildings be revitalized first.
OKCRT 07-29-2016, 05:01 PM Too bad it's not the Yard House, went there in Portland for my birthday and had a great meal.
Also too bad it's not gonna be 35-40 stories. That would have fit right in IMO.

Picture from the Ice House area and the west side of the park.
GoThunder 07-31-2016, 06:48 PM Looks like the have raised the crane for the first time.
ChrisHayes 07-31-2016, 07:32 PM Yeah, it was definitely raised. I was going for a bike ride along the river and you could see it was raised all the way from near Portland
http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/bok080116.jpg
OkiePoke 08-01-2016, 08:17 AM If they did raise it, it looks like they should have raised it higher as they soon will need to raise it again.
If they haven't raised it, it should be soon.
Bellaboo 08-01-2016, 08:31 AM It was raised. Looks like they can stack another 8 - 10 floors before they raise it again.

OkiePoke 08-01-2016, 08:50 AM ^ That picture is definitely different than the pictures from last week.

It's going to be great when there is a fully built out park there as well. I've been waiting for that sucker for so long.
OKCisOK4me 08-01-2016, 03:45 PM Not to mention the convention center instead of that OGE substation.
sroberts24 08-01-2016, 09:41 PM Wow, look at how much prime real estate will be available right on the Blvd! Lumber yard might be the most attractive piece of property (outside of Old Fred Jones Site) in the entire city.
skanaly 08-02-2016, 03:47 AM I had no idea until I drove by tonight at 3am that they work during the night. No wonder it's going up so fast, the crane doesn't rest!

Stage Center, the space between the parks, and the eventual Cox block are really in another league at this time. But yes, the Lumberyard will be huge in 3-5 years.
baralheia 08-10-2016, 04:06 PM I find it somewhat interesting that they are using different construction methods on the two parking garages here. Whereas the NE parking garage was cast-in-place, the SW parking garage appears to be completely precast. Is there any real rhyme or reason as to why at the same construction site they would use two different construction methods for similar structures? Aside from time, of course - precast garages go together remarkably quickly.
^
Yeah, that is really interesting.
I suspect it was due to the space constraints of the north garage where there was much more area to stage all the concrete tinker toys for the west garage.
ChrisHayes 08-10-2016, 05:58 PM Maybe to change things up a bit. But yeah, there isn't much room for staging of concrete equipment now. Although, they could use those big telescopic booms and send them across Sheridan from the Stage Center lot.

soonerwilliam 08-12-2016, 01:53 PM The latest article on the new tower is saying 430 ft. not 433ft. Which is it?
Jeepnokc 08-12-2016, 05:00 PM The latest article on the new tower is saying 430 ft. not 433ft. Which is it? With the Devon Tower being 850, this puts it right as half as tall as the Tower
Starting to make it's presence felt on the skyline:

Good point, Jeepnokc, should top off at slightly above the mid height of the Devon Tower.

Great angle to capture the full force of the OKC skyline.
ChrisHayes 08-12-2016, 07:36 PM From that angle, it looks like it's going to be one of the widest high rises in the city
Bellaboo 08-13-2016, 07:52 PM I guess the next major structure will be the convention center hotel.
Will it be to the right of BOK Park Plaza from this angle ?

I would think just to the left of bok
