So, pardon my lack of actual mathematics, but just spitballing.
This tower will be 10' shorter than OK Tower? But, it would seem that it may have a larger floor space, or foot print than OK Tower. I really think this is going to have a tremendous impact from afar as it'll be just over half the height of Devon. Really can't wait to see it rising passed that 10th floor and it starts taking shape from a distance.

KayneMo
06-07-2016, 10:46 AM
^ It'll be one foot shorter, but virtually the same height when viewed from the ground and from afar. I agree that it will have a tremendous impact. It'll be quite wide and robust when viewed from the northwest and southeast, and quite skinny from the southwest and northeast.

Also, when viewed from most angles this building will elongate the skyline and stand somewhat apart from the cluster of taller buildings in the CBD.

HOT ROD
06-08-2016, 05:07 AM
And, because it is in the West of downtown, it will appear taller when coming from the west and SW *much like Devon appears to totally dwarf the rest of downtown. BOKPP wont have quite the impact that Devon does but it will appear taller than the rest of the cluster when coming from the west just due to being 'in-front'. You obviuosly wont see the tower from the East and it might look a little shorter than OK Tower from the North. Justice is done in that from the North it will be slender, which always appears taller.

The northern parking garage is really moving fast.

I bet they'll have construction workers parking in there soon.

I would bet that if no buildings were demolished before the oil bust, this project wouldn't be happening. With all the controversy surrounding the demolition of historic buildings, they had to proceed, but I bet they are pushing their pens now. They were too far along into to it to turn back.

Now the OGE towers with Rainey was questionable from the beginning.

I don't agree. I think this project was a go period. BOK & Devon....enough said!

Pete stated this project had the appropriate funding well in advance, even before the existing structures were demo'd. I think Devon and BOK were pretty serious about building this tower.

Got a glimpse this morning from a distance and it looked like the tower crane was a little higher than the garage crane. Maybe they are moving it up today.

It's always been a little higher but it seems to have increased its height.

About what floor will put it high enough we'll be able to see it in the skyline? Also, what floor are they working on now?

They are up to the 8th floor or so and I noticed approaching from the west you could now see the top of the building over the trees.

Really looking forward to it topping out (hopefully by the end of the year) and adding to our skyline.

Just to add a visual gauge, if it's already at 8 floors now, by the time it's finished it should stand *approximately* 3.5 times that current height.

I love MS Paint, the simplicity allows for some very rudimentary drawing. If you have the patience you can make some really cool pieces. I was bored one day several years ago and made this. Inspired by a song I was listening to, I was wishing I could turn the volume up so loud my hair would go backwards. Having neighbors, and a concern for my already growing hearing loss from work, I decided to draw my idea instead of attempting it in real life. I also didn't have a 97" speaker like Marty McFly
