Do any of you guys have any old Christmas photos of downtown OKC from long, long ago? Would you be interested in posting them here? I've never seen such photos... Would love to see them.

The last one is me and my twin brother taken with Santa in a downtown department store in the early 50's. 9479 9480 9481 9482 9483 9484 9486 9487 9488 9485 RadicalModerate 11-16-2014, 03:03 PM ^ Wow. Just Wow. (thanks) p.s. (sorry): Caption for the last one in the series: "Is this guy a clown?" "I dunno . . . he sort of looks like a clown . . . but not really." "I'm scared of clowns . . . yet, somehow I'm not sure whether that would be appropriate here." "Me neither . . ." Questor 11-24-2014, 01:50 AM Wow those are great photos. I'm having trouble placing most of them... Were some of those buildings knocked down during urban renewal? ljbab728 11-24-2014, 09:41 PM Wow those are great photos. I'm having trouble placing most of them... Were some of those buildings knocked down during urban renewal? Yes, most of what you see is no longer there. phinzup 12-28-2014, 07:53 PM Great pics....I remember going shopping downtown back in the late 40's, and into the 50's...great memories... turnpup 12-29-2014, 08:27 PM If there's a "heaven" or whatever one wishes to call it, I'd think it'd be the ability to go back into these eras--knowing what we know now and with our current nostalgia--and just look at stuff and feel the atmosphere. I guess one would have to be invisible and incapable of making any changes. Otherwise it'd screw up history. |
