Arby's has been open for a few weeks, the hotel behind it is seeing movement, and what I assume will be Cheddars and Hooters have more and more done every time I drive by. Down the street the car wash is almost open. Pete 01-03-2018, 04:18 AM http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech010318a.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech010318b.jpg kukblue1 01-04-2018, 12:57 PM So what does Yukon need that can go into those open spots? Most everything is down the road in Westlake. I would like to see a Bed Bath and Beyond but not sure Yukon would be big enough. Could be room on the South Side of I-40 for one in Westlake area. Of course Crest in Yukon would be great. What else for Yukon? Pete 01-04-2018, 01:26 PM I am really starting to worry about what cities are going to do when these big shopping centers start loosing all their big-box tenants because most operate under outdated business models and buying habits. I suspect we will see more and more of these places empty out, similar to malls. But there are thousands of these things everywhere. Plutonic Panda 01-04-2018, 01:32 PM I am really starting to worry about what cities are going to do when these big shopping centers start loosing all their big-box tenants because most operate under outdated business models and buying habits. I suspect we will see more and more of these places empty out, similar to malls. But there are thousands of these things everywhere. Is that even happening? I am even seeing new department stores being built again along with new big box stores. It seems to me the market is maturing, but I don't see a dire crisis with these shopping centers. I'm sure there will always be people who prefer brick and mortar stores over internet shopping, I know I do. I never shop on the internet unless I have to. Pete 01-04-2018, 01:35 PM Brick and mortar isn't going away, it's just that lots of these big-box anchor stores are already experiencing difficulties and it's only going to get worse. Plutonic Panda 01-04-2018, 01:42 PM Speaking of this BTW, I heard Von Maur is not performing well. stile99 01-04-2018, 02:36 PM I'm predicting a point, though there may be some more pain to go through before we get there, where brick and mortar is going to experience a comeback. Perhaps not a large one, but the current model of "stock damn near nothing, tell people order it online and come back to pick it up in 3-7 days" is NOT going to work. They just go home and order it from Amazon. For some things, this works very well. To pick a random example, a brand name bottle of aspirin is the same at CVS as it is at Walgreens as it is at Walmart as it is on Amazon. Only the price differs, so people are fairly comfortable ordering online, knowing what they will get. But there are still a good number of items where people want to see the item first, or try it out. That's why they're in the store, and if you tell them sorry, go order it online, then they'll just go to the store that DOES stock the item. Eventually, the 'brain trusts' behind retail are going to figure this out and we'll see storefronts that actually have merchandise available again. And if we're really really lucky, they'll remember what customer service means and we'll see that come back too. Wishbone 01-14-2018, 08:11 AM My 3 girls make sure all these stores stay in business. :Smiley127 Pete 02-09-2018, 01:03 PM Hooters just filed for their building permit. stile99 02-09-2018, 01:25 PM Wait, huh? Two buildings are going up (and are pretty well along), and I thought one was Hooters and one was Cheddar's. Uptowner 02-09-2018, 01:28 PM Just being back service merchandise model. Except instead of the product coming out from a conveyor belt from the warehouse behind the showroom, the purchase comes 2 day air from a DC. I’d do that for say, a 5-10% discount. But honestly, I don’t buy things like office supplies, or certain items of clothing, just about anything I can put an ounce of trust into. I buy online. Why would I take time out of my day to go to (insert box store brand here) to shop for a tiny heater to go under my desk on super cold days, and pick from a selection of 3-4 products that might fit my need. When i can go to amazon.com and choose from dozens of choices, with hundreds of people reviewing why this one is best, and have it delivered to my office day after tomorrow? And all it took me was 5 minutes. I just bought my 4th flatscreen from a 3rd party, a fancy OLED, it came white glove freight and the gentleman brought it in, plugged it in, and we fully tested it before I signed. And I saved about $1,200 (granted it was a 2017 model) over retail. Gorgeous. These days I pretty much only run to sams for dog food, paper goods, beverages, and chemicals. I even buy specialty tools on amazon because going to a supply house around town because without a house account makes the walk in customer gets hosed. Ever notice why there’s no prices on anything at places like Locke, whitton, a&m, contractor supply, etc? The only time i seek out retail in the physical realm is for niche items and boutique shops. I worry for the brick & mortar monster stores too. Pete 02-09-2018, 02:09 PM Wait, huh? Two buildings are going up (and are pretty well along), and I thought one was Hooters and one was Cheddar's. This is likely a 2nd permit for Hooters, interior finish out, etc. Pete 03-26-2018, 10:56 AM I took these over a month ago and never posted them. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech021118a.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech021118b.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech021118c.jpg stile99 03-26-2018, 11:40 AM Hooters now has the signage on the outside walls. ChrisHayes 03-26-2018, 12:26 PM Any word on what will occupy any of the other outparcel lots? I'm looking forward to seeing how the eastern part of the development towards Czech Hall is developed in the coming years. Pete 03-26-2018, 12:32 PM ^ I believe all the remaining pad sites are still for sale. stile99 04-21-2018, 07:28 AM Hooters update, it is opening Monday April 23rd, 4pm. Pete 04-21-2018, 07:35 AM I never got around to posting these... It will be one of their new-style restaurants with huge TV's and a large patio. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/hootersyukon1.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/hootersyukon2.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/hootersyukon3.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/hootersyukon4.jpg chuck5815 04-21-2018, 10:32 AM That’s a pretty sharp concept. Seems like Buffalo Wild Wings should move in this direction as well. Wishbone 04-22-2018, 10:03 AM Looks really bright in there. Well see if Hooters and Twin Peaks can coexist so close together. stile99 05-06-2018, 12:21 PM Cheddar's opening just about one month after Hooters. Target opening date is May 22nd. ChrisHayes 05-07-2018, 11:27 AM Drove by there today and they're going land clearing on Cornwell near the Cornwell entrance to the Market. Looks like they're getting ready to extend that road at the entrance as well. PaddyShack 06-01-2018, 10:08 AM Just from driving by, both Cheddar's and Hooters seem to be hoping most nights. Cheddar's was unbelievably packed last Sunday. Never been to Hooters but this concept definitely looks more inviting than the others in the metro. I just wished this development was paying taxes to Yukon and not OKC. Pete 07-26-2018, 11:20 AM Longhorn Steakhouse just filed for a building permit for one of the parcels near Hooters and Cheddars. Zuplar 07-26-2018, 11:36 AM Awesome. They are a good alternative to a Texas Roadhouse. Pete 08-08-2018, 02:56 PM Looks like Schlotzsky's is coming to one of the out-parcels. Zuplar 08-08-2018, 03:24 PM I don't think there is one of those on this side of town, another good variety option. This development is surprising me to some degree that they are adding some restaurants we haven't had over here, which is never a bad thing. Merman 10-16-2018, 02:33 PM The traffic is going to need to be addressed soon in this area. Glad to see this infill happen. Is this OKC tax money or Yukon? Pete 10-16-2018, 02:41 PM It's in the OKC city limits, so sales tax goes to OKC. sgt. pepper 10-16-2018, 03:37 PM They are starting something next to Cheddars, maybe it's the Longhorn or Schlotzsky's Pete was stating earlier? Paule4ou 10-17-2018, 08:51 PM It is the Longhorn going next to Cheddars. sgt. pepper 10-19-2018, 07:24 AM it is the longhorn going next to cheddars. sweet! fire121 11-02-2018, 12:08 AM This isn’t related to The Market at Czech Village but in the vicinity. They have started a building pad just south or behind the Holiday Inn Express, east of Lowe’s. No signs or indication of what it might be. chuck5815 11-02-2018, 01:41 PM This isn’t related to The Market at Czech Village but in the vicinity. Pete 02-28-2019, 05:10 PM Burlington building at 40,000SF store in this project. fire121 03-02-2019, 02:05 PM As in, Burlington Coat Factory? Are those still around? Pete 03-02-2019, 02:47 PM As in, Burlington Coat Factory? Are those still around? Yes, but it's just Burlington now. Mike_M 03-04-2019, 01:34 PM As in, Burlington Coat Factory? Are those still around? Totally off topic, but I'd advise you to look up Burlington's stock performance over the last 5 years. Prepare to spit out your coffee. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BURL?p=BURL&.tsrc=fin-srch ChrisHayes 03-04-2019, 01:42 PM Too bad I didn't buy at their ipo citywokchinesefood 03-04-2019, 03:13 PM Too bad I didn't buy at their ipo I often have this feeling too friend. When I was paper trading in middle and high school I begged my parents to buy into Apple, Alphabet, and Amazon. That was just the A's and they could have been millionaires. You hate the pitches you don't swing at the most when they are a strike. Pete 04-21-2019, 04:47 AM The new Burlington will go to the southeast of the developed center and that development will include more retail space and out-parcels. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech042119a.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/burlington042119a.jpg PaddyShack 04-24-2019, 10:23 AM Saw a post on a facebook group that Whataburger is planned for outparcel "B" Pete 05-27-2019, 07:47 AM Work well underway on Burlington. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/czech052619.jpg Also, I stopped in the Hooters about 1PM on Sunday as everywhere else was slammed with the church crowd. Place was almost deserted and I was told there was no seating at the bar because the bartender didn't start until 2PM, which is when they started serving alcohol. Weird. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/hooters052619a.jpg BoulderSooner 05-28-2019, 09:42 AM canadian county was one of the ones that the new alcohol laws effected .... high point beer and liquor is only after 2 on sunday ... previously they could have sold low point beer until 2 on sunday ... this will massively effect sports bars during the nfl season .. Pete 05-28-2019, 09:44 AM canadian county was one of the ones that the new alcohol laws effected .... high point beer and liquor is only after 2 on sunday ... previously they could have sold low point beer until 2 on sunday ... this will massively effect sports bars during the nfl season .. So only Canadian County is affected by this 2PM on Sunday rule? Is it because they already had a law in place? BoulderSooner 05-28-2019, 10:19 AM So only Canadian County is affected by this 2PM on Sunday rule? Is it because they already had a law in place? there are some others i think .. rogers county (where the hard rock casino is in tulsa) only passed above 3.2 sales on sundays at bars and restaurants in 2014 and yes because they didn't change the law they had in place Pete 06-24-2019, 11:28 AM Crest is planning to build a 93,000 SF store at the south end of this project. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/crest062419b.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/crest062419a.jpg stile99 06-24-2019, 12:13 PM [QUOTE=Pete;1080260]Crest is planning to build a 93,000 SF store at the south end of this project. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll post when they do file. redhardy 06-24-2019, 04:21 PM ^ They just filed their planning documents; have not filed building permit applications yet. I'll post when they do file. Well there goes the idea of it being placed on 4th and SW59th. Rats. Merman 06-26-2019, 07:33 AM Makes me wonder now who will be the large anchor supermarket at Town Center? Geographer 06-26-2019, 07:45 AM Gosh these parking lots are killlllllliiiinnngggg meeeeeeeeeee....and I don't even live in this area lol. kukblue1 06-26-2019, 10:02 AM How big is this compared to the huge Norman store or the one on 104th? in Moore. Pete 06-26-2019, 02:10 PM How big is this compared to the huge Norman store or the one on 104th? in Moore. The one in Norman is 105,000 SF, so slightly bigger than this proposed store. Pete 09-24-2019, 09:47 AM Taco Casa taking one of the out-parcels to the west of Longhorn Steakhouse. marilyng77 01-22-2020, 02:08 PM Taco Casa taking one of the out-parcels to the west of Longhorn Steakhouse. Drove by there and ground has been broken, Taco Casa is on the way. I'm glad, I really like their food. The closest locations right now are in Moore and Midwest City so having one in Yukon is awesome! Hopefully the start of more to come in OKC. mkjeeves 01-23-2020, 08:16 AM Has the Crest been built? I go there to Longhorn and Academy but did not know Crest was on tap and have not seen construction. With it tucked around behind Burlington I probably wouldn't notice it even if it's complete. I like Crest but the Homeland on the north side of 10th is hard to beat for variety. I haven't done much shopping there until recently. |
