View Full Version : Big 12 Basketball 2014 - 2015
dankrutka 03-22-2015, 08:19 PM So happy for Wichita State (I was a professor there) and it's really gratifying for that entire community to beat Kansas. They're obviously the underdogs in a lot of things within the state. Loved watching it...
And the OU game was great too! :)

Agree - and two Oklahomans on WSU roster - Shaq Morris and J.R. Simon.
OU game was tough, hard fought. MSU next in Sweet 16!
dankrutka 03-22-2015, 08:39 PM The last time OU played MSU in the Sweet 16 Eduardo Najera crashed into Mateen Cleaves... Fun game even though OU lost...

Forgotten that game! Two tough players colliding there!
Buffalo Bill 03-22-2015, 10:06 PM It shouldn't take 23 years to play another D1 school 167 miles up the highway.
Agreed! For the life of me I can't figure why OU and OSU refuse to play them. After all, they're only just down the highway. Sissies.
zookeeper 03-23-2015, 12:52 AM Start to finish.... Guessing you missed part of the game.
There always has to be something. WSU played their style of basketball and kept Kansas from playing their kind of game - from start to finish. None other than Charles Barkley said that during a studio break when the game was still close. He said as long as Kansas can't get WSU out of playing the way THEY want to play - Kansas will not win. He said from the opening tip-off, Kansas fell into the same trap most every other team has all year long.
If you disagree, that's okay. The Shockers won and move to the Sweet 16 and Kansas goes home.

The point is that KU and WSU are D1 schools in the same state. It's not odd That OU and OSU don't play WSU often; it WOULD be odd for them to duck Tulsa or ORU, which they do not. Well, OSU has stayed away from ORU in the past, but that was because Suttons didn't want to play each other.
An even better analogue would be if OU refused to schedule Tulsa in football. Which again, they don't do.
The KU-WSU thing is straight chicken**** on the Jayhawks' part, and it has been a sore spot for WSU since I was a kid growing up in Wichita in the 70s.

HAHA!!!!! You are quoting Barkley??? The guy that said Alexander needed to play better in the second half??? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
KU was playing well enough to win until about the point that Ellis had to leave the game with a bloody nose. Not to mention that Wessel scored 8pts above his average
I'm not taking anything away from WSU. Marshall has done incredible things there and it frustrates me that VanVleet isn't playing PG at KU. But to say that they controlled KU from start to finish is just ridiculous. WSU had the perfect storm when they needed it the most.

Okay It's really not important, and I guess I'm just being ridiculous. Great game and great win for the Shockers!

Must be since you took the time to respond.... I do agree about it being a great win for WSU. Beating Kansas is like winning a National Championship for most teams.

HAHA.... Not even really a rivalry and to be honest... I think WSU was the better team in Kansas the last two years.
Only reason the Jayhawks repeated as Big XII champs this year was because the other teams at the top beat each other up and some not so great officiating took place at Bramlage and cost a couple of teams some road wins.
