Or at least I assume someone with one is based in south OKC. I see it on a regular basis on SE 44th. GoOKC1991 09-27-2014, 02:47 PM I don't think it ever leaves. Oh wow , interesting Urbanized 09-27-2014, 02:48 PM It would make sense for a car to be stationed in most major cities. With the many thousands of miles of streets and highway that OKC offers, I'll bet it is dificult to drive the whole city in a year, even with full time effort. kevinpate 09-27-2014, 03:13 PM ... I see it on a regular basis on SE 44th. Ok, that made me chuckle, as odd thoughts of mine sometimes do. Just for grins and giggles, new contest. First person to find a Google street image where Google was watching Brian watching for a south OKC street worker (with or without a john present) gets a free roll of Spree candy. Oh, ok, two free rolls of Spree candy. the hard candy ones, not those icky yucky chewy ones Ready? Happy Hunting. I check for updated 'street' views' along Robinson to see who got captured by the Google car and addresses I know to be high volume drug houses, gambling houses and local brothels. kevinpate 09-27-2014, 04:51 PM Funny you say that. I check for updated 'street' views' along Robinson to see who got captured by the Google car and addresses I know to be high volume drug houses, gambling houses and local brothels. I can relate to that. It would only surprise me if you didn't. Oh GAWD the Smell! 09-28-2014, 02:00 PM I was behind or next to one of them a few days ago. For about a mile. I put my horse mask on and passed it towards the end of our time together. Hopefully it gets immortalized on the internets. kevinpate 09-28-2014, 02:45 PM I was behind or next to one of them a few days ago. For about a mile. Pete 09-30-2014, 12:40 PM For whatever reason, Street View in OKC is updated much more regularly than where I live. Google also updates the aerials in Oklahoma pretty frequently as well. Oh GAWD the Smell! 09-30-2014, 08:36 PM I like beer. Me too. Also...Long faced masks make selfies difficult. When Google first rolled out their 45 degree imagery, OKC was the only city not on the west coast to have this imagery for quite some time. Rover 10-01-2014, 08:04 PM Saw it on May this morning zookeeper 10-01-2014, 08:34 PM Somebody told me about a year ago that the street view cars don't "return" to OKC, they are always in OKC and surrounding areas. These cars are actually based here and Google has several employees here. Maybe somebody else can give a little more information? Mel 10-01-2014, 08:40 PM Where is Street View? (http://www.google.com/maps/about/behind-the-scenes/streetview/) That backpack camera does not look light weight. It will be cool when they can use drones to go down into cayons and up building. Real 3-D view. BBatesokc 10-02-2014, 06:22 AM Somebody told me about a year ago that the street view cars don't "return" to OKC, they are always in OKC and surrounding areas. I haven't necessarily 'heard' that but I do recall a job posting by Google a few years ago that implied you'd be based in your home state in a major city. It makes sense but I am a little surprise there there is not also one located in Tulsa as well BBatesokc 10-20-2014, 03:02 PM I can relate to that. It would only surprise me if you didn't. Someone who looks like Julia Roberts is going to be working Silicon Valley. lol kevinpate 10-20-2014, 04:19 PM ... She doesn't look anything like Julia Roberts. It's all relative. Compared to some of the folk who roamed S. Shields a few years back, she's a Julia. Anonymous. 12-12-2014, 01:44 PM Looks like parts of downtown are finally being updated. Western sides of the CBD have relatively current streetview depictions. Creepy overlapping with Stage Center standing in one frame, and leveled in the next. BlackmoreRulz 02-03-2015, 06:34 PM Wasn't a google cam that we saw today but a Bing car with the same setup as the Google car I saw a couple of years ago. I guess they're trying to keep up with the Jones'... Pete 02-03-2015, 07:17 PM ^ Yes, and Bing just implemented a 3-D view like Google Earth. With great competition, the consumer wins! reverend 02-03-2015, 07:50 PM Saw the Bing camera car traveling north on May Avenue by NW Classen earlier today. |
