Am I supposed to be excited? Is Gary England returning? Is News 9 going
to give a report as to why I had to exit I-44 at 3:30pm? Believe me, I was
irritated.

Is a group of do-gooders going to remove all of the weeds in my flower beds?
I've wanted to be Weed-Free since the 70's, unless it was the 80's... Hey
no politics!

Is it that Miller gal?

I know the short-term announcement is for Jed and Lacey to share the morning weather duties, but I've watched enough local news personalities churn through to know that this is probably a prelude to her taking over the morning completely.

I hope I'm wrong. Jed Castles is one of the truly nice guys in the OKC TV weather market. I'd hate to see him go.

Nothing against Lacey; she's a ridiculously attractive young lady and does a fine job on the weather. Jed's just been around forever and I'd hate to see him go.

Dave I would agree. This is setting the stage for Jed to finally leave...being the last piece of the old guard from Gary's years.

I most admit, this thread is moot to me. I get up before noon only by necessity.

Well, the other pieces of the puzzle that tend to make me think this direction are that, if I'm not mistaken, I believe Jed has a daughter who is completing (if she hasn't already) college, and the lady he married a year or two ago is actually from Florida, and if she has family there, this could all be a prelude to the timing for him to head that way.

Jed is old enough to have a child exiting college?

Come to think on it, that bit of news would fit right up there with my new found interest in eating jello and the tendency to now buy ibuprophen in bulk bottles.

Maybe News 9 decided to use to weather person for the morning show and see how it works.I won't be surprise in the coming days that Jed announced that he i leaving news9. They just brought in another meteorologist to take over Lacey old job as a evening weather producer.

Just noticed the new meteorologist News 9 and SUPRISE it's not Sarah Libby. Her name is Cassie Heiter and she is the new, cute, petite (hopefully single) Weather Girl. I wish Jeb all the best and hopes he lands a Chief Meteorologist position in a major market.

I have a very narrow list of qualifications I expect for a meteorologist:

Know your stuff.
Be informative..
(And please, skip the hype. I know I am in the minority but concise and accurate is all good weather reporting truly requires.)

I don't get the notion that imparting weather information needs to include whether a meteorologist will be cute or petite or single or female or any combination of the same.

Unless a major storm warrants watching live coverage, I only watch bits of the weather after it has been recorded. Once I fly past Banter Field and exit off Ratings Rd, I generally only see a minute , sometimes two, of the multi-minute weather portion of the news. The rest of it is just filler to hold eyeballs for the next car commercial.

You clearly underestimate the importance of all the information. It's not enough to tell us what the temperature is going to be, whether it will rain / snow, and what the forecast is. We need to know what kind of clouds are out there, see some millibars and air pressures, hear about the different models, and see video of the weather from cameras mounted on the towers. And have it repeated several times using different graphics. Otherwise, we simply can't rely on it.

I want to know exactly how many individual water droplets there are in the immediate atmospheric vicinity around me at any given time. Is that too much to ask from these so-call meteorologist?

No, I get it. But 'filler to hold eyeballs for the next car commercial' is just easier to type for a hunt and peck typist. :)

I have a requirement for a weather segment. Show the radar south of Norman, and get out of the way! We have weather in south central Oklahoma, too.

Yeah it wasn't a big deal and I don't understand why they have two people working morning weather. They even hand off to each other in the middle of the same weather report. As if repeating the thing so many times (every 10 minutes) requires two heads.
