I picked up the small magazine SO6IX after a charity event at Remington Park. Now I've seen it around at other places. Slick, classy little mag. We've recently moved back to the area after eight years away, so if it's an OKC-specific term, I wouldn't know. Also don't have any grandkids to keep us up on the latest urban slang. So what does "SO6IX" mean? Thanks.

It has been around since about 09, give or take.
Based in either Edmond or north OKC.

As for what it stands for, not a clue. Maybe so sick (in a good way)

It's based in Edmond:

From the first issue in August 2009 I found: Magazine started by Jack McBride, a UCO student as "College Crowd Magazine" in 2006. Changed name to So6ix in August of 2009. No explanation at all of what the name means. I've wondered myself.

So here we are, a year later and I've found my answer. The August 2015 issue of So6ix - their sixth anniversary - has a Letter from the Staff, including this: "...instead of just putting it out on college campuses, I wanted it to be available everywhere else, too...The very meaning of the name is 'everyone.' By combining the words 'social' and 'mix', we could make a publication that covers everything local to our city..."

Their most recent editions are larger in size than the historical versions. Look nice and I'm sure cost more to put out.
