This seems to be an area-encompassing piece (or typo). I believe neither Lulu nor is Nordstrom Rack is moving.
Unless something changed recently.

It confused me as well. I'm not sure if they made a mistake. Maybe Pete will have some insight on this.

I've never seen Nordstrom Rack, Sephora, Lululemon or Anthropologie on any proposed plans for OAK. Rack seems way too large and big-boxy to be a good fit.
I suspect the writer was trying to make a point of more new-to-market big names coming to OKC in general and included those names as previous examples.
We should start to see more and more announcements, as there will be more tenants that want to be open this fall (which isn't that far away).

Thank you, Pete!
Just heard from the firm that handles PR for OAK and they asked me to post this correction (note that it excludes all the retailers that had been questioned):
OAK will feature a diverse array of retail and dining experiences. In addition to established brands like Capital Grille, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma, new-to-market tenants such as RH, Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar, Arhaus and Mesero are also joining the development. While some stores will debut this year, others, like RH (formerly known as Restoration Hardware), are set to open in mid-2025, further enriching the area's long-term appeal.

This makes way more sense. We appreciate you following up with them!
Bowser214 05-21-2024, 04:57 PM Oak is looking for local tenants and, on their Facebook page are asking people to reach out to their favorite local businesses to contact them about opening in the OAK.
https://www.facebook.com/reel/1388588731853067
It's hard to believe the first businesses will be open in September, which is only four months away.
I've always been a big believer in this development and specifically chose to buy and remodel a home nearby. This has been so long in the making it's hard to get my head around parts of it actually opening.
A house around the corner from me just sold for over $225/SF, a new high for the neighborhood. It was nicely renovated but nothing incredible. There are tons of homes in the area that are ripe for big redos and maybe even some tear-downs, especially since Belle Isle to the north is considerably more expensive.
They are starting to install the sculptures:

warreng88 05-30-2024, 01:55 PM Found out today that Vincint is building out about 12,000 sf of the R2 floor of 50 Penn Place. They also signed a four year lease. Not sure what that means for OAK, but this is across the street so it wouldn't surprise me if with the move on the Red Carpet if 50 Penn is next.
macchiato 05-30-2024, 03:47 PM Vincint, the singer?
Patrick 05-31-2024, 09:11 AM Is Sephora moving from Penn Square?
Bowser214 05-31-2024, 09:34 AM No. There was a correction in the previous statement. There is one cosmetic boutique opening up in the Oak.

One of the OAK construction contractors. :)

::face palm:: Yeah, not sure how that N got in there...
Also, took a tour with ULI of the property yesterday and Ryan McNeil and it was great to hear the whole story of how the idea started and what it has turned into.

OkieBerto 06-04-2024, 09:42 AM New Photos from the Oak Facebook page of them installing the cloud art sculpture. It's hard to believe they will be open this fall. They have a long way to go in a short period of time.
I know the apartments are going to start pre-leasing later this month.

OK, I'll admit I thought this idea was goofy, and the renderings didn't convince me. But seeing them installed (photos, anyway) actually has made me pro-mirror clouds. Looking forward to seeing them in person.

ChrisHayes 06-08-2024, 11:34 AM Pete, any idea how long it will be until they start on the next phase, including the office building? Also, will there be future renderings of the next phases?
These are the latest renderings and site plan:

Laramie 06-08-2024, 12:48 PM Thanks Pete,
Really nice to watch this project come together in stages.
bison34 06-08-2024, 02:57 PM Thanks Pete. After this next phase, is that it for OAK? Or do they have anymore plans for that area (not sure what all they own)?
Also, that poor office building has been downsized a lot :/ wasn't it 11 or 12 stories, at one point?
traxx 06-10-2024, 09:58 AM A bit off topic, but am I the only one who still prefers the name Penn Central? Oak just seems generic to me. Penn Central at least says something about the area.

50 Penn Place, Penn Square, and then Penn Central. You have too much faith in people not getting confused by all the Penn.

If Oak were located at 122nd and Penn, then I can see someone going to the wrong place due to confusion. Possible but not probable. But having them all front the same intersection alleviates that issue. If one gets to NW Expwy and Penn, they can figure it out.
HOT ROD 06-11-2024, 11:57 PM I tend to agree Traxx. Penn Central sounds like somewhere nice to go to. Oak - hmm, ??
"I'm going to Penn Central to shop". "I'm going to Oak to shop". ??
I also like the fit with the area, Penn Central + 50 Penn Place galleria mall + Penn Square Mall; just would need the other corner to be Penn something, ..
Bowser214 06-12-2024, 06:16 AM Omg smh

I like Penn Central, too, but it does sound like a bus/train station.

Growing up in NW Oklahoma, Oak makes me think of Oakwood Mall in Enid. But Oak in "The City" makes me think of Oak Tree Country Club (I know, Edmond). Having "Penn" something on all 4 corners would be kind of neat, though.

Speaking of such, I was watching The Seven Year Itch again a few weeks ago. The beginning where they're in Penn Station always makes me so sad that they tore that down. It was beautiful. At least they learned their lesson and saved Grand Central.
OkieBerto 06-12-2024, 09:24 AM How about making it all a retail district and calling it Penn Central? This would combine all of the retail developments in the area! It is called Oak, it won't change.

I don't think anyone is holding their breath hoping that it'll change. It's Oak. We know that. Some of us are just expressing our preference for the name Penn Central.
OKCisOK4me 06-12-2024, 11:46 AM Just call it 'The Oak on Northwest Penn Southwest' lol
As far as construction, it's really coming along and looking great. Thanks for the shots, Pete!

Rolls right off the tongue!
progressiveboy 06-13-2024, 11:07 AM The name will not affect this development at all! Because of the existing live oaks and adding new ones, I see where the name comes into play. I think Belle Oak has a nice ring to it. Anxious to see what restaurant will be going into the Red Carpet car wash pad.

Are the other ones built into furniture stores? I didn't realize there were no actual stores, but I could have sworn I'd seen the brand advertised here.
stlokc 06-18-2024, 12:28 PM A mattress store in here? Am I the only one that thinks that's weird? Although maybe it fits with the whole "home furnishings" vibe they have going on.

Yeah, or a mattress store sells multiple brands, including Tempur-Pedic.

True, I had just assumed they were not sold at regular mattress stores, but I could be thinking of SleepNumber or something else. Oh, well.
Mesta Parker 06-18-2024, 06:53 PM You can buy Temper-Pedic at Mathis Bros.

That's what i'm thinking. Feels like it should be in a strip mall not here. Unless its like a high-end showroom type store?

That's exactly what it is.
Their locations in DFW are generally in high-end centers.
Any word on rental prices for the apartments? I looked at their website and didn’t see anything yet.

He wants Fendi and Prada to open there.
From the looks of the current state of construction, it seems good progress has been made on the hotel, Arhaus, Capital Grille, Pottery Barn and Tommy Bahama (both restaurant and store). All should all be in good shape to open this fall, along with the at least the north section of apartments.
No real work has commenced on William Sonoma, Messero, Blue Mercury, or any other tenants apart from RH Gallery which won't be ready until 2025.
Many of the fences are now down as they start to put in the streets and sidewalks.
