I never commented on the Joe Mixon incident on the forum. However I can say that what I was saying should have happened then to Mixon to friends who asked should also happen to Hill after the investigation has finished. Tyreek Hill should be removed from the team.

Football should not put anyone on a pedestal so high that he is above the law. No matter how talented is.
Totally agree, conversely, football players should not be pilloried or have sanctions put upon them any more severe than the average student at that particular school.

What's funny? Mixon received his due process, let's move on.

Are you implying that Tyreek Hill doesn't deserve due process?

You misunderstand me. It was in response to the snotty and classless "lets go see what OSU fans said about Mixon". My answer is, the same things folks are saying about Tyreek. Let's wait for the information to all comeout, and the process to work.

OSU's code of conduct calls for expulsion for physical violence where damage occurs, for any student, athlete or not.

All students in higher learning institutions come under some kind of written code of conduct. We know it's going to vary somewhat from one institution to the next; where a student is on some kind of scholarship or not. Where the problem lies is who determines where the line was crossed?

It is being reported that in Mr. Hill's official statement to police, is that the only reason he was arrested, is because he is black..and his girlfriend is white.

Thank god!

Well, they're pretty explicit on what qualifies, and it seems to me what would qualify as crossing a line is pretty clear...

17. Physical Violence: Physical violence of any nature against any person, on or off campus. This includes fighting; assault; battery; the use of a knife, gun, or other weapon; physical abuse; restraining or transporting someone against his/her will; suicidal or self-harming behavior; or any action that threatens or endangers the physical health or safety of any person or causes reasonable apprehension of such harm. The University will strongly recommend suspension or expulsion for students found responsible for this charge when harm or injury occurs.

As for the "who" there is a process that's well defined - https://studentconduct.okstate.edu/disciplinaryresponsibility

Section E talks about the conduct committee hearings that are used when expulsion or suspension is being considered. There's also an appeal process.

All that being said, the court date isn't until January 13th, so I imagine we'll be getting the official word from OSU fairly quickly that he won't be in the bowl game. I'd imagine any official school penalties beyond that will happen after the court case is complete.

I know the girl, very nice girl from a good family. Friends with my daughter. And not white, or not much.

Yeah, I thought that was a (in poor taste) joke, but just now read it in the police report. Jeez. The officers' statements and the description of the wounds are pretty damning.

When I read it I thought he was saying that was how she got pregnant. I was thinking it was a shame he doesn't know how pregnancy happens.

Also according to the incident report, as he was being arrested Hill told police it was because he was black and she was white.

I guess the question is will Gundy treat Tyreek the same way he treated Chris Collins?

I hope the young lady is doing well and has the good sense to stay out of abusive relationships. As for the accused I hope he gets what he deserves.

I just saw a report on KFOR that the university announced that he had been released from the team. It didn't mention if he was also expelled from the university.

Gundy needs to go next. The reality is that OSU is a program that came out of a massive NCAA investigation looking pretty good, and has now kicked off a potential future Heisman in a Florida State-kinda way. The media will construe this as OSU, no not Ohio but the Dirty Game one, had their star player nearly kill his expecting girlfriend. Then cut to a segment on the awesomeness of Florida State.

I hate getting overly attached to a team because you will be let down. Just look at my avatar and signature lol...

What are you talking about? Winston brutally raped at least one woman and hasn't missed a game for it in two years. Mixon is just taking a year off for caving a girls face in who took offense for Mixon calling her friend a ***got. Gundy actually got rid of Hill. The outlier doing the right thing is OSU.

I am just spelling out how this will play out in the media, which will be heavily influenced by our track record with big stories lately... Dirty Game, Gundy issues, Marcus Smart, NCAA investigation, etc.

I agree that Florida State is the most egregious case right now, that's why I was drawing the comparison between Tyreek and Jameis.

As for OU, according to a lot of Sooner fans the real victim is Mixon who just gave that helpless girl the bashing she deserved for objecting to an offensive slur for gay people. Which is fine because that's typical of their program and fanbase which can choose to embody whatever values they want...

I think the focus needs to be on Gundy skating on thin ice, so I am just going to stick to criticizing my own school.

The question posed to me was why not just focus on the good Gundy has done with this situation and complain about Florida State and Oklahoma, and the point I am making is that there is a double standard for the largest programs that's not even worth fighting against, just accept it and move on, and let fanbases regulate themselves. Everyone in the nation already has an opinion of FSU and OU, and that's not my problem.

As for Gundy, the evidence is still mounting that he needs to go. I just hope that the OSU fanbase isn't so misguided that they'll let Gundy off the hook just bc some stupid kid ran a kick back. The reason Gundy gets testy when asked about personnel decisions is because he reliably makes bad decisions regardless of whether it's a coaching hire, quarterback decision, character call, etc.

I don't think there is any 'maybe' about it. In fact I think idiot is giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Gundy has already stated publicly that he just had bad breaks this year. Apparently all those trick plays, screens, short routes, running to the side is the "same scheme we ran all year"
