The size and scope of the project are still in the early planning stages. The next steps include architectural design and surveyors who will be visiting the KFOR/KAUT 10-acre property at 444 E. Britton Road in the coming days.

Wonderful!

I assume this means a brand new, state-of-the-art studio is in the works as well! The digs they have now are very outdated.

It seems like a missed opportunity to stay on Britton. Something like what WFAA (Dallas ABC) did in Victory Plaza would have been great.

They own a big chunk of land behind their existing building.

With this project, American Fidelity, American Energy Partners and the big medical developments on the north side of Britton, this area is suddenly booming.

Yes, please explain how it is outdated.

Just look at any other major market's tv news sets... KFOR has a very dull background.

I wonder if they could have worked out something with the developer of the Stage Center site? That would have been neat to have studios overlooking the Gardens. It's not without precedent, i.e. the Oklahoman's new digs.

Very exciting! Hopefully the facility will be large and impressive. Can't wait to see the renderings.

Don't mean a thing if they don't bring JoJo Back.

Yeah - that would have been great.

The new facility will be centered around spreading weather doom. Morgan is going to be excited about his new toys!

Most technologically advanced news studio in the nation! Big words. We shall see.

One significant factor they mentioned is that a large portion will be tornado proof.

I wish them well. I hope it might spur a return to some real journalism. The sharp turn they have made toward the sordid and tabloid direction is sad and disappointing.

Every station in America is doing that unfortunately.

Well, some are more "in your face" than others. But, yes, the whole direction of television news is just really sad.

Just my opinion, mind you, but I think it's a stretch to call it "news" anymore. Yes, I've said it before, but when they can tell you two or three days in advance about a story, is it really news?

I am happy they are getting a new building, and a new set, and maybe they will get a new logo, its about time.

What they have now looks good as far as the set goes. I like the more traditional 70's 80's style news sets.

It's probably too late to alter Channel 4's construction plans, but I would convert the old building to employee parking & put the new building directly behind the original studios. Then {they could} build a new facade --although the old one still looks good (IMHO). This would enhance employee security & prevent thousands of dollars in hail damage to their cars.

If they're not going to improve the quaility of their journalism then they may as well improve the appearance of the set.

There won't be until closer to the end of the year. They only started designing it when they announced it.

Years ago I lived near a couple rendering plans. When the wind was from the south...whoa, it was rank.

This should be Channel 4's new slogan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJIbzYcI1ps)
