The Roswell incident occurred this day in 1947, when a supposed alien spaceship crashed near the town of Roswell, New Mexico. Most theorists claim the object was either a secret military surveillance balloon or a spacecraft containing extraterrestrials.

On this day in 1962, Andy Warhol premiered 32 canvases titled 'Campbell's Soup Cans' in L.A. The exhibition was Warhol's first one-man show and introduced pop art to the world. The series was bought by a collector for $1,000, and resold later for $15m.
