This is very good news for the city! Hopefully they can become more sustainable here and really do something cool here.

Yukon plans to revitalize its Main Street District as one of the first cities to take advantage of a new Main Street Oklahoma associate program.

From a physical perspective here is what I would do.

1) Construct round-a-bouts on Main at 4th and 6th
2) Reduce this section of Main from 4 lanes to 2 lanes
3) With the extra room bump out the sidewalks 8 more feet and put in a landscaped median with left turns lanes at 5th
4) Change to reverse in angled parking
5) At one round-a-bout put a bronze hero scale Texas longhorn cow and in the other a bronze hero scale cowboy on a horse (to commemorate the nearby Chisholm Trail)
6) Plan for a commuter rail train station on Main St at the tracks
7) Use Belgium Bricks to distinguish the intersection at Main and 5th

I would also buy ROW for an eventual street car up and down Main Street.

That section of Main has some cool old buildings, with some neat stores. And it's full too.

A long time ago, a street car ran that route.

Can anyone post this article ? It takes a sign in...
