She's just going over as a reporter, not as a news anchor.

Channel 4 had been indifferent about her for some time; wouldn't give her a firm contract. So, she got a better deal at 9.

It seems Channel 4 has been losing their mojo for some time. Soon the top three stations will be 9, 5 and 4.

Joleen was out of contract at Channel 4 for some time; they only very recently offered her a 1-year deal. It wasn't a good fit for either side.

She gave 2-weeks notice and they promptly had her clear out, but will likely pay her for the two weeks which means she won't start at 9 until around July 1st.

Weather man Chase Thomason and his wife, Ashton Edwards (Daughter of Brad Edwards and host of Frugal Friday) just left as well, Chase is now working at the CBS station in Salt Lake City

About 3 weeks ago I posted on KFOR FB that Lance West and Joleen Chaney were terrific as the weekend anchors...guess they weren't listening. I hope Ali doesn't have any plans to move!

I was kind of expecting Ch 9 to maybe get Emily Sutton to replace Gary England. I was really surprised when they hired David Payne for his replacement. I can't stand watching him.

Tammy Payne, Jim Gardner, Bobbi Miller, David Payne and now Joleen. Who is next?

I wouldn't expect news 9 to have a younger woman to replace gary. I'm no David Payne fan but he does a fairly good job and has the news 9 big personality factor.

Now I am a huge fan of lacy swope (she has honestly always really impressed me) and Emily Sutton but can't see either of them having the lead at news 9.

I have taken to taping 9 and for weather watching only the 15-20 second window that puts the forecast for the coming days on screen.
The rest just seemed to be more fluff than substance so a while back I just stopped watching.

The local newscasts (news and sports) are so bad anymore that about all I ever watch anymore is the weather...and small amounts of sports.

hey won’t hardly do any investigative journalism. What little they do is usually superficial and only done to make the reporter and station look good for self-promotion reasons.
