Tony Gwynn was one of the greatest pure hitters in baseball history. Gwynn, and his soulmate Ted Williams, could "rake" it with ease.

Sucky news for sure. Hopefully it leads to a few players spitting the poison out of their mouths. All in one spit.

Tony Gwynn tagged a pitch so hard one game it went soaring out of the stadium! They found it atop Mt. Helix.
So glad I got to watch him play. RIP Tony!

I went to a Cardinals-Padres game in St. Louis when Tony was nearing his 3,000th hit. The Cardinals fans boo'd their own pitcher for walking Tony. 20 years with one team is a rarity in this sports era, and I believe it speaks to his character. Baseball will miss Tony Gwynn.
