On the heels of the WinCo announcement, we have also learned that Garden Ridge is planning to open their new concept called At Home in the same area. The 19th & I-35 area of Moore is beginning to rival Memorial Road in North OKC when it comes to big box retailers.

Garden Ridge has already converted some of their stores to this format, which features more textiles, rugs and "soft" home furnishings. However, this will be one of the first At Home stores built from the ground up.

Moore is on a roll...Really reeling in some quality places to shop

We have been to the at Home store in North Denver (Westminster or Thornton) and it is more in line with what the concept of Garden Ridge was at the start, my wife liked it. She quit going to Garden Ridge in Austin when it became pretty much a "Bigger Lots" store.

I'm pretty sure this is where Costco would put one of their first locations as well.

They really should get rid of the Garden Ridge concept. They have let it run down so much in the last 5 years. They used to have great kitchen supplies, frames, and other things. Now they have cheap crap. They used to be packed and now they barely have anyone in there.

My wife saw an article awhile back about how Garden Ridge had new management and they were changing the stores into more of what they used to be. Seems to me that they kind of went the JCPenney route of complete rebranding and then I guess they fired the Big Lots rejects to go back.

We were there a little over a week ago and they had already started painting and remodeling. This store is definitely not going anywhere. They were handing out fliers and the employee made a comment that there is probably going to be some better quality of stuff there too.

We usually go the couple of weeks after Christmas... Between Hobby Lobby and Garden Ridge we haven't paid full price for Christmas decorations in years. Even our $400 tree only cost us $80.

Garden Ridge is a great place for outdoor patio furniture cushions. Best selection of any place in the city. Great selection of bar stools too. Other than that, I haven't really shopped there in a while. This change to At Home looks to be for the better.

They are different markets, more like a cross between Hobby Lobby decorations and Big Lots Furniture. Not a threat to Hemispheres and I am not a fan of the "style" of stuff they have at Hemispheres. It doesn't take a lot of traffic when you have the prices that Hemispheres has, one sale could be a day of sales of At Home.

Yeah... I've been wondering about that myself watching that building going up to the east of the fitness center.... Although the At Home signs are up in front of the lot that's highlighted.

The At Home store is actually directly north of where the Winco is on the above map. It is directly south of where 17th Street now dead-ends at Janeway, and is on land that was previously part of Royal Park. I think Winco is actually going in over by 35 West, eventually.

We've been to the store on MacArthur a couple times. The staff was helpful and the store was clean but seemed a bit cluttered. Over all they were good experiences. You know, to me the sign seems to say "ath me." Ath me what?

At Home is planning to take nearly 120,000 of vacant retail space near Quail Springs Mall.

The home decor products store currently has three locations in Oklahoma: 701 S. MacArthur in Oklahoma City, SW 19th in Moore and another in Tulsa.

Formerly known as Garden Ridge, the big-box retailer is headquartered in Plano, Texas and currently operates over 200 stores in 39 states. The company had previously announced an aggressive expansion plan that would ultimately add 400 stores to the chain.

The new location was formerly occupied by Hobby Lobby and Toys R Us as well as Red Rock Fitness & Training. Hobby Lobby recently moved to a new space directly to the south along Memorial Road and Toys R Us went out of business nationwide.

At Home filed a $4.6 million permit application which would absorb a large amount of retail vacancy in the north sector of town.

How far did they get with combining the three buildings into one? At this point, what else could that space be repurposed to? Retail? Full Service Grocery? The empty Hemisphere's space to the north and vacant "The Market" to the west of Quail Springs doesn't help.

With everything else around Quail Springs, there isn't much left that isn't already there or a few red stoplights away in Edmond. (TJ Maxx, Academy, Home Goods, Kohls, Bed Bath Beyond, SteinMart, Crest)

The only winner in all of this, the Hobby Lobby store that moved from this location to the old Gordman's to the south.

This is purely anecdotal, but whenever I am in the area and enter any of the numerous businesses, it seems relatively quiet in the stores compared to the amount of cars you see driving throughout the area. Maybe I just happen to go at the right times to not have to deal with crowds, or there just is really that much traffic flowing through here. Note this observation was from before the COVID era.

While the corridor is generally healthy there are a few large areas that are empty:

Old Hemisphere's location behind Home Depot

A handful of storefronts inside Quail Springs Mall , but it appears this is being addressed as the mall shifts to a Family Entertainment and Shopping Destination

Old "The Market" on the west side of the mall.

Isn't Platt College by Barnes and Noble also empty?

Hemisphere is the only one of note and they closed ALL their stores, not just that one. As far as I can tell, Hobby Lobby isn't even trying to sell or lease it.

Considering the millions of occupied square feet, percentage-wise the vacancy rate in the Memorial corridor is very, very low.

Memorial corridor is an extremely important corridor and one of the busiest in the city. Anyone who suggest otherwise is either ignorant or wants to believe it regardless of reality. Either way, I can’t believe how packed Memorial road and even the Kilpatrick turnpike has been getting.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's commercial development clear out to the curve at County Line Road in a decade or two, especially given Paycom's location. Heck, you could probably manage it all the way around and down to the NW Expressway interchange someday, provided you added in some new frontage roads and exits.

ROW really needs to be preserved for multiple new freeways in NW OKC metro. Eventually a new loop paralleling Kilpatrick will be needed in a few decades. NWE should be converted to a freeway or made to be with a full freeway to freeway interchange at Kilpatrick. I suspect in a decade or two the Kilpatrick will be packed with developments all the way to I-40. Exciting stuff! Lots of growth happening but will the city be proactive to build infrastructure or not. They aren’t doing much so far.

Drove by the other day, and there's signage on the building, so certainly seems like it's happening! Very happy about this.
