View Full Version : Chisholm Creek
Plutonic Panda 03-01-2023, 03:28 PM They are also now competing with the Half and now the Oak. It will eventually be filled up, but I suspect the bar will be lowered compared to what was originally envisioned.
What makes you think the “bar will be lowered?” If anything wouldn’t more competition raise the bar? Everything this development has built has been amazing. What a weird comment.

They will go with quantity over quality. *quantity as in land used for parking lots vs buildings

I don’t mean to speak for him, but I think he means that the quality of the tenant mix and the overall density will likely be lower than what was originally planned. And there’s not necessarily anything wrong with that, per se.

Yes, people originally thought it was going to be what Oak is currently doing.
They've done a quality job thus far and have brought a lot of new things to OKC.
I wouldn't judge this project yet. They still have ambitious plans.

Okay, maybe I’m not seeing what everyone else is seeing. This project was always planned to have a basic cookie cutter strip mall component which has been built and further they have a mixed use component surrounding around a small “urban village.” This was always the plan, no? Plus a proposed amphitheater. I know it’s all conceptual but I think a lot of people are rushing to judgement. So far it looks like a very successful development with more ambitious projects to be built.
Other than being extremely irritated with the bar stools at Bandees I’ve rather enjoyed this development and it’s my usual go to I just wish there was something like it in Edmond.
PS, I’d gladly give up the urban village if they could land an IKEA or Nebraska Furniture.
Bowser214 03-01-2023, 07:01 PM IKEA or Crate & Barrell - Nebraska Furniture Mart would be repetitive of existing stores we have already. imo. I wonder if Chef Rasmey picked the CC location with knowledge of near future developments. Hmmm
progressiveboy 03-01-2023, 09:17 PM I still think Alamo Draft House would be a great catch for CC.
caaokc 03-01-2023, 11:17 PM Would love an IKEA

It shouldn’t be too far of a stretch.

Would be a great get. They’re very selective about the markets the open in. Right demographics(cool factor), high enough population with in 20 miles. They released a statement that they were going to open up here years ago. I guess they instead went with Omaha which boggles my mind and by all appearances decided to abandon our market.

They were rumored a few years ago that they were looking at OKC. No update since

They never announced anything; we reported they were looking at the market, which they were.
Then the pandemic hit and they were decimated financially and had to file for bankruptcy.

I'm not sure if this is a new image or not, but it was my first time seeing it from this angle.

That shows the proposed hotel at the south end of the lake.
I should have more hard information on that soon:

mgharfeh 05-24-2023, 10:54 AM Hotel looks a way different design than I would have expected
Richard at Remax 05-24-2023, 01:02 PM I suspect it's more of a placeholder design than anything.

They have been working hard behind the scenes.
Should have some new announcements soon.

I posted about this in the Resonant Head thread so may as well crosspost it here where it's actually on topic...I think that this would be an excellent location if anyone ever wanted to take a shot at building an OKC equivalent to Toyota Music Factory (Dallas) or 713 Music Hall (Houston). Definitely think that there's a market for this as the only comparable venue in the area is the Zoo Amphitheatre which is aging and heavily underutilized (not to mention the difficulties of hosting shows at a large outdoor venue in a city with such variable weather).

Totally agree with you on this. I also thought of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands, Houston, Texas area. Large venue with outdoor space and a large tent that covers most of the higher priced and close seating.
Bowser214 07-05-2023, 07:54 PM Chisholm Creek posted on their Instagram that they will be having a Farmers Market starting on July 15th 8am - 1pm on the gravel lot next to Solo's dog park.
It will continue through October. Held every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

The early renderings of CC included an amphitheater. I’d love an equivalent of Toyota Music Factory in Irving or Walmart amp in Arkansas. In the 8k-10k capacity range

That would be a huge get if something like Walmart Amp gets put in Chisholm Creek. The area around the Walmart Amp reminds me a lot of a more mature and developed version of Chisholm Creek. It has been a huge success.
chssooner 12-09-2023, 09:13 PM Any updates on this? There's been nothing new for a while.
G.Walker 12-10-2023, 07:45 AM When this area firt starting developing they didn't have any competition. Now they are competing with The Half and OAK. So I am not surprised things have slowed here.
Bowser214 12-10-2023, 11:01 AM Last spring there was a LinkedIn post last may about a hotel Brand being "announced soon". There's rendering of it in Pete's post on May 24-23.

mgharfeh 02-10-2024, 11:32 AM there’s a large construction fence set up with the signs funbox.com on it. it’s a large inflatable park, hard to tell if they are just temporary/pop up or meant to be semi permanent?

I think it's warm-weather temporary thing.
They did something similar at Sooner Mall a few years back.
Colbafone 02-10-2024, 08:32 PM Funbox was at Sooner Mall AND in Tulsa/Jenks in the parking lot of the Tulsa Aquarium. Both were out up around September of '23 and both came down in December.
Think a traveling circus, but instead it's a HUGE conglomeration of bounce houses all put together.
It's actually INCREDIBLY awesome. Look for it to be at Chisholm Creek for a few months before they travel on to their next location.
If you do go, the tickets are good for an hour and a half block. So you only get that amount of time to be there, and they only let in X number of people per hour and a half. But I don't think they typically cap out.
It's a FANTASTIC place for kids, but it's equally fun for adults or a date day/night. We (spouse and I, as well as kids) went like 3 times in 2023, and that single hour and a half wore us out.

good for them this will be a 3rd location ..
I confirmed Eddy's is taking both levels of the old Republic/Bandees space... There had been talk about splitting it since it was so large.
Eddy's hopes to open this summer.
bison34 04-19-2024, 01:16 PM Anything else close to being announced for Chisholm Creek? I know the apartments are close to being wrapped up, but what about the hotel and more development on the west side of the apartments?
Eddie's, Spark, and Dave's all coming soon.
I know they have been working a hotel deal but still no details.
Also, I know they spoke to Sunset Amphitheater early on, so this has to be one of the sites they are now considering.
HOT ROD 04-19-2024, 02:00 PM arguably the best site in my opinion, if they can't get anything downtown to work/fit.
what about the proposed apartments just south to top golf?
what about the proposed apartments just south to top golf?
That was proposed by a developer not affiliated with Chisholm Creek.
Not sure where that stands but there hasn't been any movement of late.
Bowser214 04-19-2024, 06:08 PM I hope so! Ch8 out of Tulsa throwing shade on OKC and how Broken Arrow is breaking ground on their Amphitheater. They said OKC voted it down. I had to correct them, it was just the location not the concept of having one.

There is no news on Channel 8 in Tulsa to throw shade. The news on Sinclair's Tulsa Channel 8 is produced remotely from Sinclair's Channel 25 in Oklahoma City.
Bowser214 04-20-2024, 07:41 AM Just saying that how the article came across. That's all.

what signs ?? are you talking about the second floor patio shade pull downs??
mgharfeh 06-03-2024, 10:33 AM the white rectangles that used to have that bandees pig on it. would look cool if they did their little moose logo on them
jn1780 06-03-2024, 10:35 AM what signs ?? are you talking about the second floor patio shade pull downs??
They are talking about the two white rectangular signs on the south and west sides of the building. One used to be the 'Take Out' sign. This is before they opened so they may already put something else up.
mgharfeh 06-03-2024, 10:36 AM there’s also one empty one on the second floor that used to have a thrive insurance logo. like i said it’s just my OCD but also would expect one of the highest rent locations in the city to be a little more detail oriented..
jedicurt 06-03-2024, 10:45 AM i get that twenty pho hour is a cool name and open till 2am on weekends. but how can you not be open 24 hours with that name???
