OK, I realize that what I'm about to write is going to hijack this thread and I'm sorry. Maybe someone can move it elsewhere. But I clicked on this thread to read about Chisholm Creek, which I think is a game changer for OKC and all I can see in that picture is that sad little median in that barren looking boulevard. Why is that OKC does not value landscaping or beautification? I understand we're in the beginning stages of this development but why are there not trees (even small spindly ones) or bushes/landscaping elents establishing themselves in that boulevard? I wish I had the capacity to post this right now, but I don't, but wow, even suburban St. Louis, not growing as fast as OKC, has lush, beautiful landscaping along major arteries and in medians of suburban boulevards. OKC is already flat and barren by nature, why are developers in a hundred-or-more-million-dollar-development not going crazy to beautify? This is literally the thing that makes me the craziest when I come home to visit.

If my yard is anything to go by, planting trees in the open with nothing sheltering them from wind or sun at all would just be asking for them to be replaced every couple of years. I don't know if there is even irrigation running along that way yet.

^Yup. Don't forget, this is the plains, the amount of beautification you can do is limited without footing a very large bill to maintain it.

Got a haircut a scissors and scotch this week as they finish getting their location set up/ finish training their staff and this place is going to be great. Didn't grab any pictures but their chairs are comfy and it has a good barber shop feel to it. They also have about half barbers verse cosmetologist so they can do straight razor shaves and more. Really looking forward to them opening fully.

Can you request a barber for a haircut or do you just get who you get? If you can request to have a barber, will it cost more?

I'm not 100% but I got the sense you schedule your haircuts which should mean you can request the same person or have the preference for one of the barbers.

They had the lights on at the new apartment complex (forget the name) this morning around 6:00 when I drove by. What a difference having some lights on in that area.

Looks like the new Starbucks is open.

Torchy's Tacos will be on the west end of the Westgate complex (nearest to camera and closest to Penn) and Potbelly will be at the opposite end. Both have a long way to go, with only studs up on the inside.

The other night I was driving Westbound on the turnpike I noticed they have a Large Lighted sign at the front of the property displaying in Big individual letters that spell out "Chisholm Creek". I could not get a photo I was driving but didn't have the time to go back and get a photo. It's pretty cool and bring attention to the development.

Heard Hopdoddy's is coming Chisholm Creek. Seems to be that a lot of big names out of town are enticed by paying $40 plus per square foot.

The Pointe is shaping up. Uncle Julios will go closest to Memorial on the west side of the lake, just east of iFly.

On another note, Potbelly's looks like they are very close to opening. Everything on the inside looks done, Is there a date set for opening? Same with Torchy's

Every time I drive by, the drive through line for Starbucks is almost hanging out into Penn traffic. Made me wonder how difficult it's going to be to get to the parking for the food shops in there, since the line of cars runs along the parking spots for Potbelly's and Torchy's.

I don't know how Starbucks does it. One of the greatest business models of all-time. As soon as one is opened, there is huge lines. Every. Single. Morning. Chik-Fil-A is like the food version of starbucks. Tiny location with drive-thru problems at every single one.

I wouldn't say Chick-fil-a has drive through problems at least at the locations I have been at. Its a well-oilled machine with workers walking around taking orders and payment before you reach the window. The lines are long but they move quickly.

The CFA on I-35 in Edmond has the best planned parking lot and drive thru of any I've seen. Most locations seem like the drive thru and parking lots were afterthoughts and get really congested (which is why the outside workers are necessary), but there's plenty of dedicated drive thru line space and parking at the new one!

I think it has to do with how quickly you can go in, order your coffee, and get out. Also the consistency really helps support their business model. You know what you are getting no matter which location you are at. Starbucks has become more of a "to go" option and places like Elemental, Coffee Slingers, etc are the kind of places you want to linger at.

They don't have a deal for that yet.

Had been working with some dine-in movie theaters but I don't think that is going to work due to the radius limitation from the QS AMC.

Does OKC have ANY dine-in theatres? I'm not counting the Warren balcony, since you have to pay extra for that.

No but with the alcohol laws changing I would expect a few options to pop up around the city. I know Pete has reported on the one going in on Broadway extension and I've heard that since AMC owns the theatre in north park that they have looked into changing it into a dine-in theatre.

Posting this here because it is in close proximity... Does anyone know what is going in at the NW corner of 122nd & Western? There has been a lot of dirt work & utilities work and they seem to have poured footing for some large buildings.

Because they normally serve alcohol, and until a very recent law change, theaters couldn't serve alcohol in general admission theaters. The balcony is 18 and over, so alcohol could be served there.

Does the radius limitation from the AMC have an end date? Or is it basically indefinitely?

From what I understand it's indefinite. It's a contract with the studios that is both a radius limitatim and a control of how many screens in an area can carry films. It's often negotiated on a film specific basis so changes over time.

It seems like it’s about as far removed from QSM as Northpark. Does Northpark get around the limit by showing older movies?

hfry
02-22-2018, 11:10 AM
North park did get around it by showing older movies but now they are owned by amc so if they changed the concept there to a more dine in theatre as has been rumored I'm sure they won't be restricted on what they can show.

I'll just say that I won't go to a movie theatre unless there's food/drink service options. It's such a superior experience.

That full-service experience is obviously where the future of that industry is headed.

In the beginning home theater (VCR's and even DVD's) only helped drive the in-theater box office numbers.

But recently things have crossed a threshold where virtually everyone has large screened TV's, surround sound and immediate viewing capability with the click of a few buttons.

I used to see almost everything that came out in the theater but now I only go a few times a year. My awesome home theater isn't the only reason for this shift but it's a big part of it.

It's illegal due to the liquor laws. However with the new laws going into effect this October they will finally be permitted. I believe there is one planned for Edmond.
I really hope downtown OKC gets a dine-in theater of some sort.

Totally...living in DFW has spoiled me to these types of theatres like Studio Movie Grill, Movie Tavern, Alamo Drafthouse, etc. The AMC close to my house isn't a full dine-in theatre, but does have the large reclining seats.
