ljbab728 05-24-2014, 01:48 AM The OU women may not be the historic powerhouse that they were last year but they are only one win away from returning to the World Series for the 4th year in a row.

(now if we'd just get a NPF expansion team to call this stadium its permanent home)

The future
Once ASA Hall of Fame Stadium is transformed later this decade into a triple-deck facility capable of holding 13,000 fans, Oklahoma City officially will become the host of the Women’s College World Series through 2035.

Very cool!
I know the biggest chunks won't be done for a few years but the steady progress is excellent and has allowed us to lock down the event in the long-term.
ljbab728 01-20-2016, 11:55 PM An interesting aspect added to this event by the NCAA.
NCAA Division I board approves waiver for alcohol sales at baseball, softball championships | NewsOK.com (http://m.newsok.com/ncaa-division-i-board-approves-waiver-for-alcohol-sales-at-baseball-softball-championships/article/5473720)
Beer and wine will be sold this year in general seating at the College World Series and Women’s College World Series through a one-year pilot program, the Division I Board of Directors decided last week.
This year's event will mark the first time alcohol will be available to the general public at an NCAA championship.
I don't know if that is a good idea or not.

I don't know if this is correct, but the theory behind it is here.
Part of the impetus for the decision came from school reports that indicated once they started selling alcohol at events, alcohol-related incidents declined sharply. Theories suggest that making alcohol available in the stadium prevents incidents of binge drinking before events and discourages people from attempting to bring outside alcohol into the venue.
Just the facts 01-21-2016, 10:08 PM Because serving beer works so well in the NFL I guess everyone wants in on the act. Why don't they just say they need the money?

This actually makes a lot of sense. Beer is available at every Thunder game, but I've yet to see an alcohol problem (and I'm sure there have been some) at a game. OU does not allow alcohol at events and I have seen numerous alcohol issues at football and basketball games over the years. Anyway, those are just from my anecdotal experiences.

What's been the problem? Is there widespread abuse beyond what happens at college games where alcohol is not served?

According to a new study by Vinepair, in conjunction with BACtrack, Eagles fans rank as the third drunkest in the NFL.
