Sidecar is the perfect place to order a single-malt scotch after nailing the big contract or grab a beer with friends. Our full-length glass garage door (original to the building) will open to outdoor seating and offer a great view of Automobile Alley year-round.
Just around the corner from Broadway 10, Sidecar’s well-stocked drink menu will also include wine on tap. Like wine from the barrel at a vineyard, storing our reds and whites this way means no light is exposed, for a richer taste—without the stuffiness.
Mr. Cotter 05-23-2014, 01:53 PM Sounds great. I guess we know what the house cocktail will be.
Urbanized 05-23-2014, 01:55 PM Interesting. For a minute I was wondering if the Deep Fork concept of the same name that was previously at the old Patio/Chica's (now Drunken Fry) was making a comeback.
John Knight 05-23-2014, 02:16 PM So that's where this place is going... I figured it would be close to Chophouse 10, but not that close.
Very, very excited about this. Love the concept of the tiny bar w/ outside seating.
BillyOcean 05-26-2014, 09:16 PM Sounds like my new spot. When will this be ready?
Spartan 05-26-2014, 09:21 PM I haven't had a sidecar in forever. Yummy.
I believe they are shooting for sometime this summer.
Could become the Skinny Slims of cocktail bars. If done right, small and intimate can yield a fun, friendly atmosphere.
soonerguru 05-26-2014, 11:26 PM Sounds really cool. Confession: the shine wore off a little when I found out the restaurant and cocktail lounge are going to be Hal Smith productions.

I don't think so. I think they're going to be operated by someone who used to work for the Hal Smith group. There was an article somewhere this weekend about all the restaurants being opened independently by young people, and it included the Chophouse.

Good to know. Thanks, Betts.
Right, Broadway 10 and Sidecar will be operated by former HSRG managers.
Here is a rough sketch of Sidecar.
The overhead door is to the right and it will open onto a large patio all along 10th street:

FighttheGoodFight 06-05-2014, 09:58 AM This will be great for the automobile alley shop hop!
The stairway in that rendering confused me... I confirmed there will only be seating on the 1st floor and the patio.
Should be very intimate and cool.

Did you notice the same two ghosts are in all the pics? The last rendering is the best one, but they are in the one before that, half of the one before that and in the background of the previous one... Creepy.
In all seriousness, it looks like a great set up in a great location. I have a good friend who is moving to the Garage Lofts this weekend and this will be walking/stumbling distance for him.
FighttheGoodFight 09-10-2014, 02:58 PM Update on opening?
I haven't driven past in a while so I didn't know if the construction had moved forward.
I believe they are just getting ready to start construction.
Actually, just traded emails with one of the proprietors today and they are already underway at both Broadway 10 and Sidecar.
They hope to have both open this winter.

I was going to say, I go running past there pretty often and they've been working in there a lot.
FighttheGoodFight 09-12-2014, 04:03 PM Darn! Moving out in a few months and was hoping to catch them before I was out of downtown.
The proprietors told me that since they are focusing on getting Broadway 10 up and running next week, Sidecar has been pushed back until the end of January.
Urbanized 12-07-2014, 01:43 PM Maybe my most-anticipated place currently underway, but certainly makes sense to focus on big brother right now. Looks like they have their priorities in order.

OKLAHOMA CITY – After Provision Concepts LLC partners Aaron Soward and Jeff Dixon signed the lease with the Buick Building at 1101 N. Broadway Ave. for their Broadway 10 bar and chophouse, they discovered there was another space available. It was across the street in the Pontiac Building.
Soward and Dixon toured the 9,000-square-foot space in the Pontiac’s northeast corner and loved it. Soward said they are moving forward with several concepts, and they had one that would fit the small space almost perfectly.
“It’s a smaller version and a little less food than what we had in mind,” he said.
The concept has evolved into Sidecar, an urban barley and wine bar. Soward said it will be a high-end, smoke-free neighborhood bar open for lunch and dinner. Architect Brian Fitzsimmons designed the bar and Lingo Construction is doing the build-out. Soward said not much in the building will change, as Fitzsimmons has created a design that meshes with the existing structure. The bar is 45 to 60 days from being complete.
“We create what we initially love from the very beginning,” Soward said. “We’re not going to do something because we can make a lot of cash doing it. The area needed a high-end neighborhood bar. It’s taken on a much more urban appearance than Broadway 10.”
The bar will have a front door, but on days when the weather is nice, the garage door wall will be lifted, creating an open air space. It will be dimly lit to create a cozy feeling.
Like many former automobile dealership buildings, the Pontiac building has a ramp and it will not be removed. Other interior updates will be polishing the floors and cleaning the walls. Otherwise, most new items will be brought into the space, including building a small kitchen.
Drinks will be slung down a wooden bar top made with reclaimed wood. All seating will be leather backed with dark wood tables. On the exterior, the patio seating facing NW 10th Street will be elevated.
Future customers will likely not be as concerned about the furniture as they are about what is served to them. Customers will be able to watch TV and enjoy free Wi-Fi, indoors and outdoors. There will be USB ports under the bar top, as seen at Broadway 10. For people not drinking, the bar will offer fresh pressed coffee.
“It’s going to be a neighborhood meeting place, with high-end beverages and wine on tap,” Soward said. “The regulars will know it’s their place.”
Since Oklahoma isn’t known for its friendly liquor laws, getting high-end beverages sent to the state has been a challenge. Luckily, Dixon and Soward knew several liquor brokers who were able to track down whiskeys that were not being served in the city. Soward credited Rick Naifeh of Premium Brands, Alex Kroblin of Thirst Wine Merchants and liquor broker Rachel Shelton as being instrumental in getting rare whiskeys and beers.
Chadanth 01-13-2015, 08:51 PM Very excited about this space, as good as Broadway 10 is, I like smaller spaces better.

Haha... I was thinking the same thing.
I used to feel this way about moving to London, in that I so much love the pub life that I knew if I ever lived in the UK I'd live a completely unhealthy lifestyle.
I suppose it's a nice problem to have in OKC!

That, or I need to move to the burbs. If I had to drive home everytime, no doubt I'd tone it down.

Pete,
I have spent many months with my friend in London and she lives in a gated community that has eleven pubs within two miles of her home. The last time I was there, she had surgery and I was there to help her during her recovery. I walked to a lot of pubs and enjoyed "Cask" beer, the beer that a lot of folks think is "warm" when in fact, it's actually around 56 degrees. It doesn't have CO2, and the bar tender actually "Draws" it by pulling on a pump handle. I wish we had that style of beer in this country because it was excellent. And pub food was normally very good.

CCOKC 03-30-2015, 08:52 PM And yet they all seem to be more than full on a weekend night. It can be hard to find a quiet spot to have a drink with friends on a Friday in Midtown. I don't go for a drink much on a weekday night.

No luck, the lady behind the bar said she hasn't seen cask ale in a year. So, I had an Anthem and a Black Mesa. Nothing like a couple of local brews to soften the disappointment.

Sorry? I never turn down an excuse for a good beer! And when I go there, it reminds me of the original on North Western and Grand Boulevard. I wish that one was still open, it's a lot more convenient for me.

The interior is pretty much complete and they are getting close to opening; trying to nail them down on an exact date.

I've said it before but I love this place already.
I love all the new, local bars and hangouts: Skinny Slim's, WSKY, Slaughter's Hall, Power House, R&J, Pump Bar, Granddad's, Blue Garten, Packard's rooftop, O Bar, The Mule, Saints, Empire etc.
Add in this place and the soon to open Guyutes, Rabbit Hole, Anchor Down and FlashBack and suddenly there are ton of great choices all within just the last couple of years. And of course, much more to come.
