Just learned April 20th is the target opening date.

I've said it before but I love this place already.

I love all the new, local bars and hangouts: Skinny Slim's, WSKY, Slaughter's Hall, Power House, R&J, Pump Bar, Granddad's, Blue Garten, Packard's rooftop, O Bar, The Mule, Saints, Empire etc.

Add in this place and the soon to open Guyutes, Rabbit Hole, Anchor Down and FlashBack and suddenly there are ton of great choices all within just the last couple of years. And of course, much more to come.

Haha... Yeah, we were talking about this on another thread.

I was close to moving to London at one point and knew that if that happened my health would take a nose-dive because I love pub life so much. Now, it seems I'll face the same risk if I was to move back to OKC.

Just went by there and Aaron and Jeff (the two prorprietors) were in there doing some setup, and we had a nice chat.

Unfortunately, their inspections got delayed so they are pushed back a couple of weeks, which means it won't be open before I leave OKC.

However, the place is crazy cool. It was all lit up with the overhead door open and it's just a great space. The patio is all poured, they have the teak outdoor furniture and all the details are super sharp and stylish.

This place is going to be a huge hit.

Believe they install all the patio stuff early next week and that they still may try to get open in a couple of days later.

If you haven't been by there are night, it looks very cool all lit up.

This looks awesome. Like the "secret" bar you stumble upon when exploring a city. Is the capacity around 60 with the patio?

Yeah definitely fills a spot that I think is missing from OKC. Upscale bar not attached to a hotel or restaurant. Looks awesome.

It feels a little bit like a tiny, ground-level O Bar. It's like O Bar and R&J had a baby. I approve.

There was an outside chance they would open today but now it's been pushed back to next Tuesday or Wed.

Looks like they are now opening tomorrow.

Their outdoor barstool seats are giant corks. I ran by yesterday and they were putting the finishing touches on including a small wooden fence around the patio, everything about this place looks awesome.

Got a tour yesterday after lunch at Broadway 10. It's gonna be great.

I briefly stopped in on my way to dinner, the place was packed. I was planning on taking some pictures, but it was so crowded that it seemed like a bad idea.

I walked by today and it was shoulder to shoulder out to the patio. I am going to wait and give it a try this weekend or next week.

Just because I stop there first doesn't mean I can't stop at five other places after. ;)

I went last night after dinner on the Packard's rooftop. The weather was as good as you can get in OKC and Sidecar was crowded, but nothing like what it looked like on Wednesday. The place itself is awesome and never felt too crowded. Cocktails pricewise would compare to O Bar and they have a pretty large scotch and wine by the glass (and some on tap) selection. They have a small (but bigger than I expected) food selection... mainly sliders/sandwiches, cheese board, soup, etc. They also had a guy with a guitar singing last night on the patio too, all and all pretty great.

My wife and I stopped by here yesterday for lunch. The space is small but really impressive. The food is also great.

I also had a chance to meet Aaron Soward while we were seated at the bar. We were discussing their next venture which will be amazing!

The decor and feel of this space is amazing, I love what they did with it.

I wish their menu was a little more sophisticated, it seems very plain to me. The cocktails are very basic and limited, the wine list is mostly average facings, and the whiskey list is something i would expect to see in a restaurant. After seeing their eclectic wine list at Broadway 10 and their vision for Sidecar, I had high hopes for a small but interesting menu that set them apart from everyone.

Hopefully the list evolves over time and they find their niche because the space is incredible and deserves to be successful.

Well FWIW, the food and drinks tonight were amazing tonight, just incredible. Cocktails were delicious. Grilled cheese (HOORAY FOR AN ACTUAL VEGETARIAN OPTION!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!) was actually flavorful and made with actual cheese and perfectly cooked. I had a bratwurst which was excellent, plus the ghost pepper chili sauce is amazing. The food was far, far better than we've had at other comparable establishments downtown. As another option in walking distance, Sidecar has entered our rotation plus more tonight!

We were there for the better part of the evening and it was basically full the entire time. Shows just how underdeveloped downtown really is - this is a Tuesday, a brand new place, and it's already packed to the gills. I love the young creative energy in this city now. Places like sidecar completely change the air about OKC.

I went on opening night and it was definitely one of those "Wait…am I in OKC?" type moments.

It's crazy how common that feeling is becoming.

Got in town yesterday and had a late lunch there... The pulled pork sliders with seasoned chips was pretty darn good. Some interesting beers as well.

Then, after meeting a friend for dinner, he wanted to see it for himself so we went back around 8PM and were lucky to get two seats at the bar as a couple was just leaving. The rest of the bar was completely full, including the outdoor seating on a chilly night.

Stayed for a couple of hours and it was just a great, friendly crowd. Was full with people standing as well, but never crazy cramped. The wine and champagne on tap is really popular, especially with the ladies. It was great to see as many women as men in a bar.

I had their GTO margarita (served with a sidecar of course!) which was potent and spicy. Really, really good.

The wife and I stopped in last Saturday around 6:00 pm after winning a little money on the Preakness. We both loved the place and will go back for sure. One thing we found odd was my wife ordered the house red wine and it was served chilled. The bartender then recommended the wine "on tap" and it came chilled as well.

Same with my wife's wine. She said it was ok once it warmed a bit. Not sure why they'd chill red wine. Otherwise. The place is great.

I suspect the wine dispenser is near other refrigeration which is causing this.

I heard this same complaint from a bartender on a night off from one of the better places in town, who asked about temps and was told that they keep reds at 55, which is about 10 degrees too cold. Not sure why they do that. Besides that, I have not seen anything about the place that qualifies as anything other than glowing review. I've probably been there a dozen times at this point.

Perhaps when storing wine in a large quantity dispenser they have to keep it colder for some reason?

Not sure. The Sidecar bartender had no explanation at all for my friend. Seems like something they'll probably dial in a bit after a little customer feedback.

Said they are still tweaking their cooler. Said goal is 60-65 degrees and it's been running about 10 degrees cooler.

It might have to do with Lower 48 Energy moving in next door/upstairs.

That's what I figured, but I saw three guys with huge pieces of plywood covering things up so I was hoping someone knew if it was in fact just for repairs.

I just drove by there. They covered up the garage door. Maybe the glass got broken in it somehow?

Provision recently announced Hatch (http://www.okctalk.com/showwiki.php?title=Hatch), a lunch and breakfast spot that will located adjacent to its other two operations, Broadway 10 Chophouse (http://www.okctalk.com/showwiki.php?title=Broadway+10) and the first Sidecar Barley & Wine Bar (http://www.okctalk.com/showwiki.php?title=Sidecar). All three are near the corner of NW 10th and Broadway in Automobile Alley.

The new Sidecar will be part of the massive Chisholm Creek development (http://www.okctalk.com/showwiki.php?title=Chisholm+Creek) on the southwest corner of Memorial and N. Western.

“Be ready for this Sidecar to take it up a notch,” co-owner Jeff Dixon told OKCTalk. “I agree”, said Aaron Soward, fellow owner with Dixon. “We are extremely excited to offer the North Side, a bit of Downtown – if you will…”.

The new bar and restaurant will be quite a bit larger than the compact location on 10th, but seeks to duplicate the same type of intimacy, with multiple fire pits and grouped seating areas and outdoor cabanas.

The expansive patio will feature a long bar, an extension of the indoor counterpart. The outdoor space will also be partially covered and heated for the cooler months.

Without the space limitations of the Auto Alley Sidecar, the new setting will allow for more expansive beer, wine and food menus.

The exact location will be in the under-construction Tract 30 and just to the north of Yokozuna, the sushi concept by Elliott Nelson of McNellie's and Fassler Hall fame. It will be on the second level of the project overlooking Topgolf to the south.

They have pushed back their opening in Chisholm Creek to 12/21.

Soft opening today, full opening tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec 21st).

The long firepit on the patio isn't fired up yet as they are waiting on fire marshall approval, which should come soon.
