I suggest subscribing if you're a Baseball fan. bluedogok 05-14-2014, 09:23 PM I have the MLB Extra Innings package on Directv, this season the MLB.tv package is linked to the Directv package so I am able to get the games online, other than Rockies games. Prunepicker 05-14-2014, 10:21 PM Cool. How many games are available? I'm on my third game for today including a rerun. I'm a Dodger fan and I have to wait weeks between games. Now I can watch them everyday and hear the great Vin Scully call the games. shawnw 05-15-2014, 11:48 AM If it weren't for the blackout issue I would Prunepicker 05-15-2014, 06:12 PM If it weren't for the blackout issue I would What games are blacked out? Prunepicker 05-16-2014, 09:12 PM Today I watched the Cubs get creamed by the Brewers. Ouch! Right now I'm listening to the great Vin Skully call the game for the Dodgers. He's the greatest announcer ever. bluedogok 05-16-2014, 09:23 PM Cool. How many games are available? I'm on my third game for today including a rerun. I'm a Dodger fan and I have to wait weeks between games. Now I can watch them everyday and hear the great Vin Scully call the games. Online I have everything but Rockies games, on the Directv box I have the local broadcast (Root Sports Rocky Mountain) of the games and no away broadcast and every other game home or away. I am not a Dodgers fan but one of their games just doesn't sound right if Vin isn't doing the game. What games are blacked out? The games which are considered "local" by the local televisions rights. For OKC that would definitely be Rangers games, maybe Houston and maybe KC. I didn't have MLB Extra Innings when I lived in OKC. In Austin we were considered "local" by both the Rangers and Astros....of course Comcast Sportsnet Houston isn't carried by Directv (or pretty much anyone other than Comcast) so I don't have the Houston broadcast like I did when they were on FSN-SW. They have pretty much "Longhorn Networked" the Astros. In years past they blacked out the games opposite the Saturday afternoon Fox games but I think I have seen some on this season, maybe the move to FS1 changed that contract. zookeeper 05-16-2014, 09:35 PM Today I watched the Cubs get creamed by the Brewers. Ouch! Right now I'm listening to the great Vin Skully call the game for the Dodgers. He's the greatest announcer ever. Absolutely the best. Hard to believe he signed a new contract at 87. To think he goes back to calling Dodger games when they were in Brooklyn! He's an amazing man. Prunepicker 05-16-2014, 09:47 PM Absolutely the best. Hard to believe he signed a new contract at 87. To think he goes back to calling Dodger games when they were in Brooklyn! He's an amazing man. I believe he started calling Dodger games in 1949. Don't quote me. I remember him calling the 1963 World Series, probably the first time I remember his voice. The 1987 contract reminds me of George Burns refusing a 5 year contract with Caesar's Palace. He wasn't sure they'd be around another 5 years. However, Vin knows that the Dodgers, and the Peanut Man, will be around for another 5 years! Gotta love it! zookeeper 05-16-2014, 09:50 PM I believe he started calling Dodger games in 1949. Don't quote me. To me, baseball announcers began and ended with Curt Gowdy and Vin Skully. Well, not really, I know there was some other true greats, but these two were unparalleled (imo). Well, not really, I know there was some other true greats, but these two were unparalleled (imo). My most vivid announcers were PeeWee Reese and Dizzy Dean calling "The Game of the Week." I remember how teachers demeaned Dizzy because he didn't speak proper English. Hey, "he slud into third!" shawnw 05-19-2014, 02:57 PM I know I'm biased, as a Phillies fan, but Harry Kalas has to be on this list... td25er 05-19-2014, 03:34 PM mlb.tv is awesome. I can get around the blackout issue on my android phone and tablet. I have them rooted and use a location spoofer to spoof the gps/wireless location. shawnw 05-19-2014, 03:36 PM smart blangtang 05-19-2014, 04:15 PM yeah, the mlb blackout system is over aggressive, blocking out 4 markets for okc when I had the product. Still the same? Houston, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Texas are way too many "home" markets to black out for OKC |
