Please advise of any retail chains I have missed and I will keep a running list in the article.
Just FYI, Tulsa has a Nordstrom Rack.
GoOKC1991 04-29-2014, 06:54 PM OKC has an NBA store? Like the one in NYC? Or do you just mean Thunder store?
It's an NBA store for the Thunder.

Yes but OKC had the first store in Oklahoma.
Yes but OKC had the first store in Oklahoma.
Right but I at first had it the "Exclusive to Oklahoma" category. I have since edited the article.
GoOKC1991 04-29-2014, 06:56 PM Dick's hasn't been around long, can't remember which city got one first though.

The West Elm store in OKC is already under construction. I didn't list it because I'm sure the two locations will open about the same time.
ljbab728 04-29-2014, 10:35 PM I understand why you listed the Hemispheres store but having one in OKC first instead of Tulsa is not surprising given that it is one of the Hobby Lobby Green's family businesses.

Yes, but they have 8 locations in Texas and none in Tulsa.

Yes, I know where all of the locations are but this thread is about OKC vs Tulsa and It would certainly be strange for them to not have locations in their home city first. After that I'm sure it's based on market research for the next locations.

According to their web site, they did start in OKC
After years of dreaming and months of planning, Hemispheres made its debut in Oklahoma City on September 4, 2001. Since then, we have opened five (maybe they need to update the site) additional locations in Texas. These are in Allen, Arlington, Cedar Park, Frisco and Lewisville. We also have our newest location in Moore, Oklahoma opening August 2013.

Yes, that is exactly what I said.
Tulsa still has a Pottery Barn Kids and an Aveda store. Oklahoma City has Half Price Books and Homegoods (in Norman).
bchris02 04-30-2014, 06:16 AM Tulsa has Urban Outfitters since I don't think nobody has mentioned it yet. That one seems to be a pretty coveted retailer here in OKC.
Unless I am looking at something else or interpreting it wrong, Natural Grocers website shows 1 store currently open in Norman and 2 open in Tulsa.

???
Not listed on their website.
Sure this wasn't just a rumor?
Yeah, just looked. No mention of a store in OK at all.
bchris02 04-30-2014, 09:15 AM I know almost for certain there was one at one point unless I am really crazy. Maybe they closed it? It was in Utica Square. In fact on Mapquest it gives the address as 1876 Utica Sq Tulsa OK 74114.

Mapquest also shows a Trader Joe's in dowtown Tulsa.
Anyone can add items to that map.
This was just a rumor.
BG918 04-30-2014, 10:03 AM It was a rumor a couple years ago before Anthropologie opened, which is owned by Urban Outfitters. I could see them in Utica Square but I don't think there are currently any vacant spaces large enough. West Elm is taking a space that was occupied by Pier 1. The last area they have to expand is the southeast corner parking lot, or where the bank is by Saks.

Definitely no urban outfitters in Tulsa. I'm up there 3 or 4 times a month and hangout in all the urban districts, haven't see one. They have a few very small stores similar to Urban outfitters, but they aren't any different then some of the smaller boutique stores that have popped up in AA and the plaza.

Of Sound Mind 04-30-2014, 02:43 PM I sure wish OKC could compete with Tulsa in retail firsts... :poke:
traxx 04-30-2014, 03:53 PM Is this where I put OKC > Tulsa?
Spartan 04-30-2014, 05:04 PM Alamo Drafthouse???
Alamo Drafthouse???
What about it?
Neither city has one and no firm plans have been revealed.
BG918 04-30-2014, 09:26 PM Alamo Drafthouse is expanding outside of Texas. They have locations in Denver (with a second one planned) and Kansas City. That or a Landmark theater would be nice additions in OKC and Tulsa. You could actually add the Warren Theatre to the OKC list (Moore counts right ?). Tulsa won't have one until this fall, in Broken Arrow.
SomeGuy 04-30-2014, 09:58 PM Isn't Nordstrom supposedly opening a dept. store at Woodland hills mall in Tulsa?
Mississippi Blues 04-30-2014, 10:05 PM Isn't Nordstrom supposedly opening a dept. store at Woodland hills mall in Tulsa?
There's a Nordstrom Rack going into Woodland Plaza. It may have already opened; I'm not sure, though.
Mississippi Blues 04-30-2014, 10:06 PM Double post....

I thought I read on TN that Alamo Drafthouse is seriously looking at Tulsa?

Plutonic Panda 05-01-2014, 06:25 PM Not sure if Maserati has ever been here before or if there is one in Tulsa, but as far as I know this is first one so might want to add that to OKC's list.

Rover 05-01-2014, 07:41 PM Jackie Cooper used to have the states only Rolls Royce dealership.
For the sake of this thread, we aren't counting restaurants.
Lafferty Daniel 05-01-2014, 08:43 PM You can add "Apple Store" to the "First in Oklahoma" list for OKC.
Money Shot 05-01-2014, 09:49 PM Bob Mills Furniture.

What are we missing in Tulsa?
DammitDan 05-09-2014, 04:17 PM Does Tulsa have an outlet mall?
bchris02 05-09-2014, 04:42 PM Does Tulsa have an outlet mall?
No they don't. I think they are supposed to be getting one but they don't have it yet.
Is Tulsa getting WinCo?
Plutonic Panda 05-09-2014, 05:23 PM I heard the same people who built the outlet mall were considering one in Tulsa.
B Chris, Pete said they were actively scouting locations for Tulsa as well.
Plutonic Panda 05-09-2014, 05:25 PM Jackie Cooper used to have the states only Rolls Royce dealership.that's awesome. Never even knew.

Plutonic Panda 05-12-2014, 02:27 AM If we are including the metro areas....we had the first SAMs in the state (country for that matter)I didn't know that. That's pretty cool!
Plutonic Panda 05-12-2014, 04:34 AM BTW, should probably add the Tile Shop to Tulsa first.
rfjeep12 05-12-2014, 07:20 AM i thought i read awhile back that cabela's was confirmed for the Mem & western development in OKC? Has that Changed, or was it never written in stone?

That's a rumor much like Trader Joe's. It has not yet been officially announced.
SomeGuy 05-19-2014, 11:01 PM Tulsa is also getting the first Garage clothing store in Oklahoma at Woodlands Hills ( they're mainly in the east coast and Canada)
Mississippi Blues 05-20-2014, 12:44 PM Tulsa is also getting the first Garage clothing store in Oklahoma at Woodlands Hills ( they're mainly in the east coast and Canada)
What are they? I've never heard of them.
It's a cheapo women's mall store:
