Dubya61 04-28-2014, 03:25 PM I see these drawings were properly documented. The ceiling fans in the open storage are are not small, not medium, not large, not even extra large -- they are BIG ASS FANs!
I'm pretty sure Big Ass is the brand. My National Guard unit had those same fans installed in our hangars in Tulsa.

Yes, it is the brand - there is one in the Hensley's (bar) resturant in Yukon.
Urbanized 04-28-2014, 05:03 PM There are a couple in The Garage (the burger joint) in Midtown, and there is one outside on the patio at Texadelphia in Bricktown.
jccouger 04-28-2014, 05:17 PM Am I looking too much in to OU having Architecture classes in downtown OKC? Did they previously have space anywhere else in OKC?

I think this is a completely new venture and kind of a big deal.
Can't be a coincidence that Hans Butzer -- on the faculty at OU Arch -- offices two doors down.
One Dot Less Than Nine 04-30-2014, 04:48 PM It seems like there was an urban OKC studio for 4th or 5th year students that was being offered fairly frequently. It would give them a home base to work out of instead of having to bounce back and forth to Norman (which in reality they would have to do for other classes anyways).
$700,000 building permit for this project today.
Should see some action soon.
Spartan 05-15-2014, 08:34 AM Is there a press release or any info about the OU Arch School's program here? They don't do a good job of promoting themselves.
This could be big, though. Maybe?
OKCisOK4me 05-15-2014, 09:13 AM I can't wait to see this develop and bring more life to the area.

OkieNate 08-14-2014, 11:47 AM The brick on the north side has been completed and looks fantastic! Really blends in with the rest of the block. Work continues on the east side and it appears the have put up some sheet rock on the inside! Looking better everyday!

BlackMint has set their grand opening for October 17th, so this project should be wrapping up pretty quickly.
Don't think Black Mint is going to open tomorrow (as they had previously posted) but their space is pretty much finished:

warreng88 10-28-2014, 11:47 AM Indelible impressions: Tattoo shop brings color to Film Row
By: Molly M. Fleming The Journal Record October 27, 20140
OKLAHOMA CITY – For some, operating the local grocery store or a law firm is the family business. For Brandilyn Dunning’s family, it’s tattoos. Her father taught her the art. Now she’s bringing her talent to Film Row, with a shop at 800 W. Sheridan Ave.
Dunning moved to Oklahoma City from Denver, where she spent the last five years tattooing. When she moved in April, she knew she wanted her own shop, but finding a spot took a little longer than expected.
“We started searching in August, and we kept getting turned down,” said Dunning. “It was making it really hard.”
Luckily, her mother- and father-in-law are friends with developer Chip Fudge, who told them about the building he was renovating and said the neighborhood will be the hot spot in a few years as downtown development moves west.
Dunning and her husband signed a five-year lease.
“We’re really excited to have it here,” she said.
The 1,200-square-foot Black Mint Collective has two tattoo areas, an office, and an art gallery. Dunning will use one tattoo area, and a guest artist will use the other. Dunning plans to invite people from other states to ink their art on local residents. She also wants to host movie-themed art nights, possibly partnering with The Paramount, she said.
“This is very different compared to Denver,” she said. “People are a lot nicer here. Downtown OKC Inc. has been the most helpful thing ever.”
Yet moving to a new city without any clientele – and opening a shop based on appointments – was risky, Dunning recognizes. She used her Instagram account, blackmintcollective, and Facebook to create interest in her work.
“Almost everyone that’s come in for a consultation was from Instagram,” she said.
Of those who responded, Dunning was most excited about tattooing a hairstylist because, as she said, they talk to everyone.
“Word of mouth is the best,” she said.
Black Mint Collective now puts Film Row on the list with other districts that have tattoo shops. Uptown 23rd has several tattoo shops between N. Broadway and N. Pennsylvania avenues, the area’s boundaries. Jennifer Seal, past president of the Uptown 23rd Street Association, said she thinks the shops add diversity to the area’s businesses.
“It gives people more reasons to come down to Uptown, walk around, and maybe check things out,” Seal said.
She said the economic development committee is working to make the area appealing 24 hours per day, and a tattoo parlor helps.
“We recognize for us to continue being a viable neighborhood area, we need to serve the needs of our neighbors around the clock,” she said.
In the Plaza District, No Regrets Tattoo shop has been around since 2009.
“I think they’re great for the district because they’re artists and they’re working,” said Plaza District Association Executive Director Kristen Vails.
She said the shop’s staff is visible in the area, often outside playing Hacky Sack or talking to people.
“I think it definitely fits the market of the Plaza District,” she said.
John Knight 11-19-2014, 08:36 AM I met with Brandilyn from BlackMint Collective yesterday. She is super nice and I was pleased with the shop. Here are several pictures I pulled from their FB page:

Tattoo parlor. You can tell by the second to last photo.

Like Warren said, it's a tattoo parlor. They also hang local art. Tattoo Parlor/Art Gallery, pretty cool concept if you ask me.

John, did you happen to notice how far along they were with the space next door? Will be for the OU Architecture school.

I did not Pete. I will be headed back in the near future so I will take a look at that point.
This is the interior of the OU School of Architecture's OKC Design Center in this building:

ouiqc 03-30-2015, 05:00 PM We held our first event in the new College of Architecture space last week. A great space to keep our students connected to everything happening in OKC.
