View Full Version : Cactus Jack's
rush1169 04-09-2014, 10:06 AM I just wanted to let everyone know that Cactus Jack's Arcade has expanded the game line-up to include a large selection of well maintained pinball machines. We now have about 45 pinball machines available for play and have seen steady growth in pinball play in Oklahoma. We are going to offer regular pinball tournaments and league play. Many tournaments and at least one league will be for IFPA (International Flipper Pinball Assoc) ranking points. Cactus Jack's is partnered with Pizza Inn for fast delivery to the arcade so that guests can enjoy a cold beer and fresh pizza during their visit.
On a side note, we'd like to partner with a nice bar-type establishment in or around the Edmond area to install and maintain 8-12 pinball machines to help extend pinball play in the OKC area. If you know of such a place, please drop me a line.
DammitDan 04-09-2014, 01:38 PM I know quite a few people who'd be excited know about this pinball treasure trove! I've heard that the folks behind Flashback Retropub won't have many pinball machines, if any. It'd be great if these two places joined forces to bring pinball to uptown OKC :)

Seriously if not Flashback at least partner with someone near downtown OKC before heading to Edmond. Pleae! I don't think I'd drive to 10th and Council to see my own mother.
Edit: Just because I hate driving, and 10th and Council is waaaaaaaaay out there. Not because i hate my mother.
Cocaine 04-09-2014, 02:03 PM I haven't been to Cactus Jack's in a few years. I might need to go back soon then. I hope they still have Virtual On.
MadMonk 04-09-2014, 02:53 PM I've dropped in there occasionally over the last year or two at lunch. It's like a trip back in time to my misspent youth. If I had a quarter for every quarter I spent in there... :)
I've also looked at getting a pinball machine for my game room. Man, those things are expensive!
rush1169 04-09-2014, 05:18 PM I'm not necessarily married to Edmond - admittedly I'm not plugged in to the nightlife scene, so really anywhere in Oklahoma City would be a potential candidate. We have a group at pinball.meetup.com/36 of local pinheads (our next meetup is April 26th with an included IFPA tournament) - all are welcome to check that out and join and invited to come play with us.
Coast2Coast pinball (a pinball podcast based in CA) stopped in Cactus Jack's a few months ago and had some good things to say about what we're doing here at the arcade (Episode 53 "Dutch Dudes Abide or Xmas in OK" - Coast 2 Coast Pinball | podcast garden (http://www.podcastgarden.com/episode/episode-53-dutch-dudes-abide-or-xmas-in-ok_8478)) (start at 15:10 into the episode), if you want to hear his take on the pinball lineup.
Mississippi Blues 04-10-2014, 07:41 PM Not really my niche, but just wanted to offer you some vocal support and best wishes. Seems like there's a crowd for this kind of thing, so it's pretty legit that you're trying to cater towards them so well.

This is all very awesome! I will have to find a way to get to one of your gatherings. Thanks for keeping the flame alive!
marky_d 04-22-2014, 02:32 AM Edmond sounds fine to me
rush1169 02-20-2015, 02:12 PM Just an update to an otherwise old thread: Cactus Jacks now has more than 50 pinball machines, has crowned 2x IFPA sanctioned State Champions (2013 and 2014) through tournaments and leagues, and has now attracted the attention of PAPA (the major competitive pinball circuit) with a major 3-day tournament (cactusjackssilverballshowdown.com) scheduled in April.

This changes everything. Jaw is on the floor right now.
Bullbear 02-20-2015, 02:32 PM Have been in a few times to spend a bucket of quarters on pinball. Really enjoy all the games. I am no Pinball wizard but I do enjoy playing them.

10221 I think I have seen you there.
Zorba 02-22-2015, 09:17 PM Made it out there today. Very nice selection of Pin Balls. Unfortunately it is pretty far off the beaten path for me so I am not sure how often I'll make it out there.

My first time was last night. I have never seen such a selection of functioning pinball machines. Never. And they all seem to be in good working order. I dropped a ton of cash last night, but I have no regrets.
This is from DoctorTaco -- pretty impressive selection:

DoctorTaco 03-04-2015, 11:15 AM There are actually more machines behind were I was standing, and still more around the corner to the left.
Urbanized 03-04-2015, 07:00 PM Holy crap.
Wow! I gotta go. Maybe take the Grandsons a few times.
Plutonic Panda 07-30-2016, 01:57 PM They are opening an esports arena here which will be the second one of its kind in the country.
OKLAHOMA CITY - An esports arena opening in NW OKC will become only the second of its kind in the country.
“It’s socially acceptable to be a gamer and say I make my living playing video games,” said Arnold Marquez, RTZ Esports Arena.
Marquez has transformed part of the Cactus Jack’s Arcade at N.W. 10th and Council into a gamer’s paradise.
Forty gaming stations will allow individuals and teams to go head to head in the most digitally advanced games in the world.
“You get hyper focused when you play a video game, especially a competitive video game,” said Marquez who will also open another esports arena in the Phoenix area this summer.

ManAboutTown 09-06-2024, 09:43 AM I am resurrecting this old thread simply to ask if anyone knows a person or business in Oklahoma City that repairs and refurbishes pinball machines. I have a classis 1970's Bally machine that works but needs new bumpers, a good cleaning, and a few minor repairs.
Thanks in advance for any assistance! :)

You might reach out to the Arcade bars. Sauced just started an arcade and they might know someone. Or Flashback Retropub will probably have a contact.
Bowser214 09-06-2024, 12:05 PM Wasn’t thete a restaurant bar on N May in thd 80s called Cactus Jacks?
Urbanized 09-06-2024, 09:52 PM I know what you’re talking about but it wasn’t Cactus Jack’s. That place is unbelievably still open, in west OKC. I’m trying to recall the name of the place you’re mentioning…Monterrey Jack’s, maybe?
chestercheetah 09-08-2024, 11:10 PM Cactus Jack's never ceases to amaze me. It has reinvented itself a few times. I remember as a kid in the 80s riding my bike up there with my buddies to play videos games I felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. Just for old times sake a friend and I went a couple of months ago and the video games were Everywhere and TONS of pinball! Like really super cool pinball. We had a blast! I just dont know how it continues on at that location. Long live Cactus!
Dr Beard Face 09-09-2024, 10:57 AM I would reach out to Cactus Jacks about pinball repairs. The amazing thing about that place is that it remains one of the best maintained pinball collections in the world. I believe its still near the top 5 for size as well.
Urbanized 09-09-2024, 11:40 AM Out of sheer nosiness and nostalgia I stopped in earlier this year when I happened to be in that neck of the woods, which doesn't happen often for me these days. Hadn't been inside in probably 30 years. I was mildly shocked at the pinball selection. It is indeed great, and miraculously I only saw one or two that weren't operational.
