The quality of this team is going to be pretty high. I really don't want to go to Yukon though. Any other way I can watch these games?

Interesting, just curious, what are your concerns about Yukon? AP 03-14-2016, 10:27 AM Interesting, just curious, what are your concerns about Yukon? It's 25 minutes away from me and Taft is about 6. LakeEffect 03-14-2016, 02:03 PM It's 25 minutes away from me and Taft is about 6. Ditto for me. Yukon is a fine town, if you live out west. Laramie 03-16-2016, 02:58 PM Much will depend on your preference (view & knowledge) of the game. Taft is close to the heart of OKC vs. Yukon which is on the outskirts. I'll plan to attend both the NASL & USL soccer matches in OKC area. Sometimes being close comes with traffic congestion; it can also be a vice if you don't know how to get in and out of Yukon. Plan to enjoy our two competitive organizations. LakeEffect 03-16-2016, 03:37 PM Much will depend on your preference (view & knowledge) of the game. A thinly veiled slam at Taft...? It's easy to find Yukon, but it's far out there. Even Taft isn't great for those on the eastern sides of the metro. Lord Helmet 03-17-2016, 12:47 PM The quality of this team is going to be pretty high. I really don't want to go to Yukon though. Any other way I can watch these games? NASL was on ESPN3 last season...dunno about this one or if local games are blacked out. borchard 03-17-2016, 02:08 PM NASL was on ESPN3 last season...dunno about this one or if local games are blacked out. Nope. All games SHOULD be on ESPN 3. There should be an announcement soon about a local TV package, as well Tydude 03-17-2016, 10:41 PM Nope. All games SHOULD be on ESPN 3. There should be an announcement soon about a local TV package, as well Well we know that KSBI has team up with Energy FC this year so i doubt that it will be on KSBI. borchard 03-19-2016, 09:17 AM It's 25 minutes away from me and Taft is about 6. I am within walking distance of Taft and I will happily drive past it to Miller to watch Rayo OKC. Last new member of the SG that signed up lives in Midwest City. Laramie 03-20-2016, 01:14 PM Don't think we'll limit ourselves to the proximity of Taft or Miller stadiums when it comes to soccer. We're not talking about our neighborhood pub or bodega. The NASL & the USL can co-exist in the Oklahoma City metro area which has potential that is grossly underestimated. Impressed with the NASL's marketing strategy to tap into the Latino base. Sold Out Strategies' co-owner & operator Brad Lund knows the metropolitan OKC sports market. His experience will be a valuable marketing commodity to get NASL Rayo OKC off the starting block. Six or 16 miles will not deter soccer fans; Rayo OKC will be defined by the product it puts on the field of play. True soccer fans know quality soccer, you can't mask that with give-aways & gimmicks. kevinpate 03-20-2016, 06:27 PM Given the distances some folks I know travel for Thunder, Sooner, Cowboys, and even high school events, seeing folks within the greater metro lament the distance to Yukon, or even consider it to be some distant place, is a bit astounding to me. And sheesh, I am a freaking hermit. Well all of those teams are legitimate pro or very large uni, and hometown teams. This is a minor league that will change its roster pretty much every year. Not something to get too excited about, tbh. AP 03-21-2016, 09:16 AM I am within walking distance of Taft and I will happily drive past it to Miller to watch Rayo OKC. Last new member of the SG that signed up lives in Midwest City. That's wonderful. I also don't have a grudge against the Energy like you do. Bellaboo 03-21-2016, 10:58 AM From Miller Stadium to downtown is exactly 15 minutes, as long as I-40 is moving. borchard 03-21-2016, 02:15 PM Saw a report today that NASL games will be broadcast nationally/internationally on BeIN Sport. Also still waiting for the official announcement of the local TV deal for Rayo OKC. HOT ROD 03-22-2016, 05:23 PM Still doesn't discount the FACT that it would have been MUCH better if Rayo was playing in the Southside of OKC - where the Latin population has critical mass density and the city overall could benefit. It also would be nice to throw the Southside a bone sometimes so they can have some things local. I agree it is good to spread things out to the metro but I just dont think OKC is there YET as we first need to get the market built in the city. Laramie 03-23-2016, 12:00 AM The only concern with the southside of OKC is C.B. Speegle Stadium; its seating capacity is slightly less than 3,000. The smallest NASL stadium is FC Edmonton's Clarke Stadium with a capacity of 5,000. Rayo OKC will play in Miller Stadium which has a minimum seating capacity of 6,500; expandable to 11,000. NASL stadiums: Ottawa Fury FC, TD Place Stadium - 24,000 Puerto Rico FC, Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium - 22,000 Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Lockhart Stadium - 20, 450 Miami FC, FIU Stadium - 20,000 New York Cosmos, James M. There are minimum standards in NASL and, unfortunately, it doesn't meet them. borchard 03-24-2016, 11:26 AM 1240512406 Latest members of Rayo OKC's inaugural squad. The historic first-ever competitive Rayo OKC match in the NASL at home to FC Edmonton will be televised live in high definition (HD) from Miller Stadium at 7pm CT on Saturday, April 2. “Exposing our brand via a reputable provider such as Cox was a goal of ours from the outset,” said Rayo OKC managing partner Brad Lund. “Cox has a long history of producing high-level professional and amateur sporting events in Oklahoma.” Long-time Oklahoma City sports personality Mark Rodgers will handle play-by-play duties, while The Franchise’s Todd Lisenbee will serve as color analyst. Rodgers currently co-hosts “The Monsters of the Midday” on The Sports Animal in Oklahoma City, while Lisenbee of “The Dylan and Todd Show” is highly respected in Oklahoma City for his knowledge of the sport of soccer. “The growth of soccer has gone from projection to tangible reality,” said Rodgers. “I worked in Dallas for the World Cup in 1994 and have had an interest in the game ever since. Rayo OKC is putting together an incredibly talented roster with significant international experience. I am eager to be a part of the impact this team is going to have in Oklahoma.” The regional television deal comes after the NASL announced a multiyear broadcast television partnership with ONE World Sports, which will include Rayo OKC being featured three times on the NASL Game of the Week series. Laramie 03-25-2016, 08:28 PM . Fantastic! Oklahoma City will have NASL Rayo OKC & USL Oklahoma City Energy FC on local television. Tydude 03-25-2016, 09:26 PM How so? i think he meant that his team games will be on TV more than Energy FC. Urbanized 03-26-2016, 10:48 AM I think he is suggesting a deal with Cox is more prestigious than one with KSBI. He's not so much concerned with the end product but rather looking for an opportunity to throw rocks at the Energy and its ownership, despite claims to the contrary. The proof is in the pudding; his posting history is only one click away. boitoirich 03-26-2016, 03:53 PM Yeah it's really off-putting. Support whomever you'd like, but the pot shots taken at the other organization are borderline obsessive. Laramie 03-26-2016, 03:53 PM Since the 2016 Oklahoma City Energy thread on this forum, I have not seen borchard post on that forum at all. He has dominate the Rayo OKC thread. True soccer fans will recognize talent & finesse on the field of play. This is a good thing IMO because these telecasts can help or hurt these franchises in the long term because that product Rayo OKC and OKC Energy FC put on the field of play will result in marketing the brand for both teams. It could also backfire and hurt attendance. The ratings from KSBI-52 (Energy FC) & Cox 703 (Rayo OKC) will be the x-factor for our soccer community. Energy FC has had two years to get well established. Attendance by OKC Energy FC appears to have hit an impressive 6,250 plus average for the last seven events at Taft Stadium. Rayo OKC has invested huge financial & capital resources into player personnel and getting the NASL's presence in metro OKC. Borchard has kept us informed of player personnel developments for Rayo OKC--which has been impressive. Borchard, myself & many want the best for Oklahoma City. We would like to see the city build some kind of sports stadium for soccer & American football on our riverfront or in the core; much like OKC did for AAA baseball & NBA basketball. The early Battle of OKC between the NASL & the USL has brought a lot of attention to our community. Myself, I hope both franchises can survive & prosper in our market. Let's unite behind both the NASL & USL. If both franchises or one is standing come 2019--we'll unite behind Oklahoma City & soccer. borchard 03-28-2016, 12:42 PM 12419 jerrywall 03-28-2016, 03:37 PM I think arguing prestige of being broadcast by a local CBS affiliate or being broadcast by a local cable franchise is absurd, especially considering the difference in availabilities.
