View Full Version : Mercy Hospital
We've been tracking this story for a couple of months and were finally able to get our hands on the site plan for the Mercy Hospital Cancer Center.
Construction on the parking lots is currently underway to make room for the large addition.
We contacted Mercy and they issued this statement: "We have submitted plans and hope to begin construction on a new cancer center once we have completed the parking lot construction that is currently underway."
They declined to give a dollar figure for this project but the first building permit is for $35 million and a good source on the construction side reported the total investment will be $45 million.
Another big project for the booming Memorial corridor.

Perhaps, but they have not previously released any specific plans; it was all conceptual.
Until now, there has been no other announcement about this project.

Plutonic Panda 03-28-2014, 03:44 PM They should sign a contract with the turnpike authority for that gigantic parking lot to double as a park and ride. It's a normal sized parking lot for any hospital. A parking garage would be nice to consolidate some of it.

Haha, five months after we reported this. :)
From that article:
Mercy dignitaries broke ground on a new $69 million breast health and cancer treatment and research building on the grounds of Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City Wednesday.
With a projected opening date in spring 2016, the 86,000-square-foot space will be accompanied by 42,000 square feet of additional space that be available on the third floor for future growth.
The facility will be named the Coletta Building in honor of the nun who founded Mercy.

When Mercy Hospital found that a cancer center is one of the greatest needs for the community, Mercy Health Foundation reached out in its base to help fund the $69 million project.
Mercy dignitaries broke ground in August for the Coletta Building, a breast health and cancer treatment center bringing valuable research to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
With a projected opening date in spring 2016, the 86,000-square-foot space will be accompanied by 42,000 square feet of additional space that be available on the third floor for future growth.
“We started the campaign over a year ago and we currently have approximately $9 million of the $20 million that we have committed as a foundation to support this project,” said Kay Oliver, executive director of the foundation, which raises money solely for Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Coming here to gather data for the OKC Development and saw this. Very bizarre. It'd be nice if that picture was deleted not sure how that got here.
Anyways, this project is well underway. I'll try to get pictures sunday.

This place needs a parking garage in the worst way.
^
They are pretty much out of land now so any future work is going to require structured parking.
Plutonic Panda 12-22-2021, 03:38 PM They already seem like they a need a parking garage now. Last time I went to visit a relative it was tough finding a space. It’d be nice if they developed some kind of system that tracks open spaces and can direct to where they’re at it.
NavySeabee 12-22-2021, 03:54 PM My wife worked at the Heart Hospital during their last expansion. They wanted to build an additional parking garage then however, the residents of The Greens fought it. Probably what that will have to do is build one across the Turnpike for employees to free up space. They can shuttle the employees over like OU does for their staff. If they don’t build one over the existing main lot.

How me saying Dallas can do it? Lol but seriously I thought there was a sky bridge for a hospital in Dallas somewhere specifically on the George Bush tollway but I can’t find it.
