What about Estilo Gaucho in Frisco?

It generally gets rave reviews and certainly looks a bit more upscale that TDB.

From looking at their website... the difference is about $2.50.

I do notice that serve serve fried polenta at Estilo.... When Gaucho Grill was on NW Expressway they served it.

Estilo gaucho has superior service to both, but when I last went (grand opening), they charged for pine apple
TdB and FdC are comparable
The one I like going to is Rafains. Better salad bar than all of the rest, doesn't charge for pineapple, upscale appearance of FdC

Took my wife to dinner last night. I couldn't get their Open Table reservation to work online, tried calling and got the answering machine, so showed up at 5:30pm and the wait was 1.5 hours. However they had 2 seats at the bar and they do serve the full menu, so we just ate there. Salad bar was very unique to what you would see in most salad bars in OKC and could easily be a meal in itself. My wife especially liked the lobster bisque salad. The cuts of meat were as numerous as I had remembered from the times I've eaten at their Orlando location and the cook on them was superb. Excellent experience, except for eating at the bar, but our bartender was very attentive and it turned out quite enjoyable. That $25 online deal for two dinners was nice, though with a couple of drinks and tip, we still spent about $110. Glad to have one of these in OKC. We'll definitely be back, just not too often at that price point.

An excellent article from Eater: Dallas on how the Brazilian steakhouse went from roadside working mans fare to upscale dining.

Thanks for that. Fogo de Chão is still my first love. Started eating there in the early aughts (maybe even late nineties), and even made a few special trips to Dallas to go there when I was doing the Atkins Diet around 2002 or 2003.

I still enjoy a good trip to Fogo de Chao too.... Once drove down there, and back, after work for my birthday dinner.... Maybe the best birthday dinner experience I've ever had.

Did you happen to notice if it is the limited meats (usually 6) and lesser price.... Want to say it was $29 something last time I had lunch at the Addison location.

I got an email on the hours.. but it didn't mention the menu other than the disclaimer that price and menu vary by location and to call nearest location for details.

We went to Texas de Brazil for lunch today because they were giving away $8 vouchers off a dinner purchase. Shortly after we arrived former Sherriff John Whetsel was seated at the table next to ours.

Now I've never cared for Whetsel all the way back from my highschool days when he was the Chief of Police but now I have even more reason to dislike him...... TdB cooks all their beef medium rare. You can ask for it cooked more and they will but Whetsel ordered it..... WELL DONE!!! - GAHHHHHHHH!!!

Go to McDonald's if you want well done beef. Not a nice steakhouse!

^^ I wonder if this is a regional or generational thing. Whetsel is the same age my father would be, and growing up and into my early adulthood I hated steaks because all I had growing up were charcoaled hockey pucks. It wasn't till my mid 20's that someone convinced me to try a medium rare steak.

Possibly... But my dad, who would be just slightly older if he was still living, ate his steaks blue.... In fact he would put a steak in a screaming hot cast iron skillet, flip it once after about a minute, and start cutting it up and eating it out of the skillet after that first flip...... My dad was a Kansas farm boy though. So maybe it's more of a regional thing.... I've never been able to eat them that rare but I can handle medium to medium rare.

My ex father in law liked them like shoe leather and would pour catsup on them. Whenever he would visit from Scotland he always wanted to go to a western themed steakhouse or have me cook him a steak.... I flat out refused to cook a steak like that so we usually ended up at Cimmarron.

Yep.... I saw an elderly couple ask for catsup for their well done filets at The Ranch one night. Waiter brought them a bowl of catsup and they would swirl each bite of steak around in it..... To be honest I don't even eat catsup on my burgers..... and I definitely don't put it on hot dogs.... In fact about the only thing I eat it on is potatoes..... But if I'm paying $45 for 6oz of meat.... You can bet I'm going to slap the teeth out of anyones mouth that gets a bottle of catsup near it!

I don't trust people who use windows or have their steaks cooked well done.

I can't imagine a day ever when I'd be hungry enough to eat at Texas de Brazil.
