I really wish they were putting the Texas de Brazil somewhere other than the Mall. I love Texas De Brazil but being in the mall makes it far less attractive for me.
View Full Version : Texas de Brazil Bullbear 12-24-2015, 10:45 AM I really wish they were putting the Texas de Brazil somewhere other than the Mall. I love Texas De Brazil but being in the mall makes it far less attractive for me. Bullbear 12-24-2015, 10:46 AM that was just a big Downer post.. sorry.. I am glad they are opening in OKC however. just my personal preference. SoonerFP 12-24-2015, 11:19 AM Taking just Cantina Laredo. Confirmed that with the mall this week. Laredo is closing in January and work will start right after. They are not relocating. Thanks, Pete! On it like always. Merry Christmas! Richard at Remax 12-29-2015, 01:58 PM Curious if there will be access from inside and outside the mall Pete 12-29-2015, 02:01 PM Just outside. okatty 12-29-2015, 10:34 PM I'll never forget the first time we went to TDB in Dallas - my kids who were teenagers at the time loved it but my wife was sorta off guard over the entire deal - she normally doesn't eat all that much and will take half of her smallish order home from a normal establishment. Well, TDB hit us for their per person charge and she was bound and determined to eat her money's worth. She probably ate more meat that night than she eats in a month. About killed her....LOL. She loved it and hated it at the same time! We still laugh over that night but have been back to this and similar places and she has learned to temper how much she indulges. kelly73099 06-12-2016, 03:19 PM Is this still happening? It doesn't look like they've made much progress. Pete 06-12-2016, 03:26 PM Yes. They have been working on the inside; the windows are darkly tinted and they have them mostly blocked off. But I was out there a few weeks ago and noticed they have done a lot of demolition. Pete 07-08-2016, 04:33 AM Took a couple last night, as they are deep into the $700K renovation. The interior photo is looking from the entrance to the back wall where the salad bar will be. Also, you can see the plans for the finished space below. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdb070716a.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdb070716b.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdbjune4a.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdbjune2.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdbjune3.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdbjune5a.jpg Jeepnokc 07-10-2016, 09:35 AM I didn't think that space was very large but the plan shows 132-134 seats plus 15 at bar Roger S 08-16-2016, 03:59 PM Just received an e-mail with a coupon stating that they open tonight. Pete 08-16-2016, 08:42 PM Stopped by briefly this evening, as today was a bit of a soft opening; no wine or beer or liquor. Very nice space and smelled *heavenly*. They are absolutely going to murder it here. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdb081616a.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdb081616b.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/tdb081616c.jpg kevinpate 08-17-2016, 06:32 AM The interior looks really nice. SoonerFP 08-17-2016, 08:49 AM Been waiting for one of these in OKC for years! Know what I'm suggesting for our next date night! Pete 08-17-2016, 09:00 AM BTW, pricing is $42.99 per person; $24.99 for just the salad bar. Open for dinner only but they said they are considering Sunday brunch down the line. If you go to their website and sign up for email alerts, you can get a $25 coupon for dinner for 2. Roger S 08-17-2016, 09:04 AM BTW, pricing is $42.99 per person; $24.99 for just the salad bar. And I know to most that sounds like a really hefty price for a salad bar but....... It's an epic salad bar like none you have probably ever experienced before...... Unless you just frequent a lot of places that have lobster bisque on their salad bar. Lots of cured meats, cheeses, roasted and pickled vegetables, some hot items like the bisque, black beans, potatoes.... I want to say it has something like 50 items on it. sooner88 08-17-2016, 09:09 AM And I know to most that sounds like a really hefty price for a salad bar but....... It's been awhile since I've been, but they had a ton of sushi options when I went as well. Bullbear 08-17-2016, 09:10 AM yes its almost a crime to call it a Salad Bar. I love Texas de Brazil!.. looking forward to trying this one! Pete 08-17-2016, 09:13 AM I must say, that place has the most heavenly smell. It draws you in like a siren song. Roger S 08-17-2016, 10:04 AM I must say, that place has the most heavenly smell. It draws you in like a siren song. Oh yeah and for me it's those Brazilian Sausages.... I love sausage and these are amazing.... The braised beef ribs are pretty incredible too. Pete 08-17-2016, 10:22 AM Oh yeah and for me it's those Brazilian Sausages.... Since you are our resident meat expert, can you provide a full breakdown on all the various meat options and your opinions of them? Need to start mapping a plan of attack. :) Roger S 08-17-2016, 11:05 AM Since you are our resident meat expert, can you provide a full breakdown on all the various meat options and your opinions of them?) Here ya go... Not in any particular order. Just the order I cut and pasted them from the website.... lol Filet Mignon If you prefer lean this is the cut for you. If you like some fat move on to the next option. Filet Mignon Wrapped in Bacon This is the option for the filet mignon I prefer if I go with the fillet. I usually try at least a piece of it. Braised Beef Ribs Don't let these pass by your table. Tackle the gaucho if you have to but don't let him get away with out getting some! Lamb Chops Not a fan of lamb. have tried it at both Fogo de Chao and TdB and did not like it. If you like lamb I'm sure this is a solid option for it though. Pork Ribs Are ok but are usually cooked a little too fall off the bone and mushy for me.... Stick with the beef ribs. Brazilian Picanha This is the featured meat of the house. It's a prime top sirloin cap (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picanha). I'm not a fan of sirloin at all so I usually grab a slice of the option below this and save room for other meats. Garlic Picanha This is the option I will usually get at least a slice of because I love garlic. Brazilian Sausage This is probably my favorite item. They are a juicy, coarsely ground, seasoned perfectly, sausage. I always eat WAY too many of them. Leg of Lamb Once again I don't care for lamb but if you do I'm sure this is a good option...... Also if you have never tried lamb. This is a great way to break out of your shell and try it. If you don't like it you don't have to finish it and you're not walking out of this place hungry. Chicken Breast Wrapped in Bacon These can be a little dry but are tasty. I usually pass them by to save room for beef and sausages though and I prefer the next chicken option more. Parmesan Drumettes I like drummettes and I like parmesan. So if I go with chicken this is usually my choice. Parmesan-Crusted Pork Loin Usually a little on the lean side for me but still a tasty option. I'll usually get at least one slice of it. Flank Steak Probably my third favorite cut after the sausages and beef ribs. It's juicy and tender and seasoned simply with salt. Herb-Marinated Pork Loin Like the Parmesan Pork Loin this cut tends to be very lean. I prefer the parmesan version to this one. Brazilian Alcatra This is another version of the top sirloin. Similar to the picahna from what I have found. I'm actually not familiar with it and don't remember ever having it offered to me. Chicken Sausage Another option I have never been offered at the Addison or Ft Worth locations. Richard at Remax 08-17-2016, 11:06 AM Is it the same setup as a fogo de chao where they walk around and serve you or do you order off a menu? Roger S 08-17-2016, 11:12 AM Is it the same setup as a fogo de chao where they walk around and serve you or do you order off a menu? Same... They do have a bar menu... Do not know if you have to set at the bar to order from it.... My wife had bariatric surgery last year and has sent them an email asking if they have other options because $42.90 is a lot to spend for her to eat 3 bites... I'll report back when she gets an answer. Pete 08-17-2016, 11:13 AM Here is the bar menu: BAR MENU Chicken breast, Garlic Sirloin and Sausage (2 pieces each) $9.50 Chicken breast, Garlic Sirloin and Filet with Bacon (2 pieces each) $12.50 Bowl of House-Made Lobster Bisque $9.50 Antipasto Platter: Imported Cheeses, Charcuterie, Olives and Cornichon $9.50 Meat platters served with chimichurri sauce. Chicken breast available with or without bacon. All items served with basket of cheese bread. Roger S 08-17-2016, 11:14 AM Oh and as an addendum to my meat list above.... Some times they walk around with grilled pineapple... Get a slice of it... It goes great with the grilled bananas they serve as a family style side item at the table. At least, they gave me two. Thomas Vu 08-18-2016, 09:36 AM I didn't think TdB would ever have grilled pineapple. If this is true, not sure what to say. Roger S 08-18-2016, 09:41 AM I didn't think TdB would ever have grilled pineapple. If this is true, not sure what to say. I've had it every time I've been to the Addison location. Thomas Vu 08-18-2016, 09:24 PM I thought the only places that offered it in the DAllas area was Rafains. I know fogo normally doesn't, and swore TdB didn't. Smaller place, estilio gaucho, also did but charged extra for it. Jeepnokc 08-19-2016, 08:10 AM I signed up two days ago and got the $25 off coupon this morning Thomas Vu 08-21-2016, 10:44 PM Stopped by on Sunday. Love their spring water, favorite item was the garlic steak. They offer grilled pineapple, but in a different way. As opposed to having it being served with the rest of the meats its in the salad bar. It's as if they flash grilled it, sprinkled some cinnamon, and then took some cross sections of it and put it on a plate. By cross sections man I mean cross sections. SUPER thin. whatitis 08-22-2016, 07:35 AM I signed up two days ago and got the $25 off coupon this morning Damn it I signed up a week ago and never got anything. Yeah, I got the free dessert coupon too but the closest I've ever come to eating dessert was eating bananas and pineapple for the last bite of my meal. kevinpate 08-22-2016, 07:10 PM hmmmm, another bite or three of meat, or a few bites of fruit? meat or fruit? meat or fruit? Why? Roger S 08-23-2016, 08:09 AM Well I'm pretty sure they will be showing a loss for their first week of operations after my visit last night. I had only eaten two celery sticks and a serving of peanut butter yesterday morning. So I was prepared to put a hurting on the protein options. I did see a lot of rookie dining mistakes going on around me. Noticed multiple tables come back from the salad bar with their plates loaded up..... Amateurs! ;) Overall our experience was pretty great and I'm glad I no longer have to drive to D/FW to find a churrascaria. They did not have the grilled pineapple, and maybe I was mistaken about it because my wife seemed to think we had gotten it at another churrascaria, but they did have a thinly sliced and bruleed pinapple slice on the salad bar that I had never seen at other locations that was pretty tasty. Roger S 08-23-2016, 08:10 AM they have fruit and a salad bar? Why? To trick the rookies into filling themselves up before the meat hits the table. Definitely got it somewhere else. May have been tasty but I prefer the hot/juicy/cinnamony american variant (I was told chef reasons/more authentic). Salad bar isn't anything to scoff at though. I usually get a small plate when I sit down. Wish the lobster bisque had lobster in it. Bullbear 08-23-2016, 11:10 AM I'm not rookie.. but I do love the salad bar. its pretty amazing. It's hard for me to restrain myself on the trip to the salad bar but I'm their for the meat options. I'll eat a couple of the cheese breads and a few bites of the bananas between bites of meat to cleanse my palette but I'm definitely about protein overload when I'm at any churascaria. Urbanized 08-23-2016, 02:45 PM For those who have been to both, how does Texas de Brazil compare to Fogo de Chao? I've been to FDC many times, but never felt the need to go to TDB, assuming it was just a downmarket knockoff. Maybe (hopefully) I was wrong about that..? Roger S 08-23-2016, 02:52 PM There really isn't a big difference between the two in my opinion as far as the meat goes..... Pretty much same offerings. And I actually like TdB's salad bar, or Market Table as it is called at FdC, better, not that I go to either for the salad bar..... So for me the only difference is about $7. FdC does have the Sea Bass option that TdB does not. Oh and the one really big kicker now.... TdB is here and FdC requires a 3 hour drive! Urbanized 08-23-2016, 02:59 PM ...Oh and the one really big kicker now.... TdB is here and FdC requires a 3 hour drive! Kinda what I was thinking. When I'm in Dallas I can be a little bit more of a snob, but the carnivore in me will surely drive me into this TDB. Pete 08-23-2016, 03:01 PM What about Estilo Gaucho in Frisco? It generally gets rave reviews and certainly looks a bit more upscale that TDB. Urbanized 08-23-2016, 03:01 PM Haven't been...but I'm intrigued!
