not sure if any of you keep up with soccer, but there seems to be a big hoopla about the Orlando city fans busing to Tampa and settling the stadium ablaze.

Saying the stadium was set ablaze is misleading, smoke bombs were lit (which tampa's news reported is what the police made a statement it was), not something you want either but still very different.

Kemp in makes the roster for MLS first homegrown game.

Also got called back up to SKC.

I have a buddy in Australia who is a huge soccer fan ( don't ask me what CAMP as I don't follow ) but some of the crap he shows me is insane.. and scares the living bejusus out of me. I guess I just don't get it. Smoke bombs.. Flares and craziness

Yesterday. The SKC starting keeper broke a finger, so they called up Kempin.
Time for Samir to step up!

Badr played well during the USOC. Pretty aggressive in goal, good reactions, quick feet. I think he'll do well

Does anybody know what happens if we go to the playoffs and have a home games and thus a conflict with McGuiness football season, which starts with a home game (they should have planned that better know the possibility for extended seasons)?

Um, just play the Saturday after a McGuiness game.

Their first two games are home games I believe. Unless you mean after the game on the same day, but then they have to re-setup the venue for the Energy identity, right?

Should USL-Pro soccer extend beyond the regular season; there are probably dates available for you to use Pribil Stadium which doesn't conflict with McGuiness High School football. Most of the Irish football games are scheduled on Friday nights.

I don't know the Irish schedule, but the USL Pro post season schedule is already laid out. From Wikipedia:

" The 2014 USL PRO Playoffs will include the top eight finishers in the table, with the quarterfinals (No. 1 vs. No. 8, No. 2 vs. No. 7, etc.) set for the weekend of September 12–14. The semifinals featuring the four remaining teams will be played the following weekend, with the 2014 USL PRO Championship set for the weekend of September 26–28. All playoff rounds feature a single-game knockout format and teams will not be re-seeded following each round."

Also interesting to note, the 5-0 loss to the Galaxy at their place is the biggest home win of the year for any team in the USL. We are also are on the board with one of the biggest road wins of the year when we beat Arizona at their place.

So I was curious, so I looked up the BM football schedule. Looks like they are away for the first two weeks of the playoffs and are home when the final would be played. Considering our position on the table, I doubt we would have home field advantage for any of the games, but if we did, the only conflict would be the final.

The Schedule for September for McGuinness Football is
Friday September 5th,2014 vs Shawnee 7:00 PM
Friday September 12th,2014 at Bishop Kelley 7:00 PM
Friday September 19th,2014 at Weatherford 7:00 PM
Friday September 26th,2014 vs Guthrie 7:00 PM

So week 1 is at home and week 2 and 3 is away.So if Energy Host a Playoff Game likely they would been McGuinness Logo on the Field as with the Football Lines. There is no way McGuinness paint the Football Lines and then Remove them for Soccer playoffs.I think Energy FC and McGuinness has a plan in set if this does happen.

I watched the game while I was at work. The refs lost control of that game. They couldn't keep the teams under control and at the very least there should have been 5 to 6 minutes of stoppage time. I think the refs knew they had lost control of the game and basically said. "F this. We are out."

Impressive start:

A home sellout crowd of 4,102 were on hand against the Los Angeles Galaxy II. Impressive attendance for soccer on a night when the OKC RedHawks drew slightly over 10,600.

Galaxy II End Energy's Undefeated Run... ...United Soccer Leagues (USL) (http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/home/824613.html)

Oklahoma City Energy FC (6-8-4) with ten home dates, an average attendance of 3,738; good for 5th among 14 league teams.

The Energy FC wants to solidify their fan base before the head-to-head competition when the NASL arrives in 2015.

A lot of people park in the neighborhood and walk to the game. Most Saturday's my group of friends tailgate at somebodies house and walk over to the match.

If the same ownership group owns both teams, is it still trademark infringement?
I believe Funk is owner of the Barons & minority owner of the Roughnecks.

FWIW, I do not see those to be nearly as similar as seems to be implied.
Quite different shield background shapes, all the way around.
Different derrick design, well, as different as derricks can get and still look like a derrick.
Different placement and emphasis of derrick in relation to the background design.
Different colors.
Different sports.

I think it'd pass muster even without the ownership connections that exist between the two programs.

Really? You don't see any similarities?
I don't care about either team, so I'm not saying one is better than the other. It's just lazy, lazy design. In the same state no less.

Ah, I guess I hadn't paid that much attention to the ownership of the Tulsa team.

That is still no reason not to be at least a little more innovative with it, granted doing anything new with team names/logos/colors is a bit of a pain with hundreds of pro teams, thousands of colleges and tens of thousands of high schools in the US alone. Ironically I could see it pissing of Tulsa fans more than OKC fans.

The Barons and Roughnecks logos do look similar, although the derrick on Tulsa's logo looks less...clip art-y.

The Barons will most likely be gone soon since they average like 14 people per game, so people won't have to worry about the clashing logos for long.

You must have seen more recent versions of clip art than I did, the Tulsa one looks more the clip art style I remember seeing many years ago, best guess is Windows 95 era.

so we probably won't be getting MLS?

I wouldn't be so quick to say that the ship has sailed.

Sure, there are a lot of cities that have facilities in place which could be used or upgraded to get them on the MLS radar. We have an established track record as a city with the resources (MAPS) to get things done. Who knows? MLS expansion isn't the only alternative to obtain an MLS franchise; Los Angeles has two MLS franchises, one just might want to relocate.

Let's say we decide to build a venue, we need to plan ahead. It would take about $150 - $200 million to get this accomplished on a MAPS IV initiative. As we did with the Chesapeake Energy Arena; a venue of this magnitude needs to be marketed as a 'quality of life' facility. Just The Facts (JTF-Kerry) has emphasized this with the convention center complex.

The city could use a stadium. We're not building it just for MLS; there are other areas for which it could be used (soccer, American football, concerts). Design something with the future possibilities of expansion (if needed); wouldn't rule out the possibly of adding a retractable roof--should we be presented with the opportunities to bring in other attractions. We need to plan for the future; get ahead of the game.
