Have tickets for Megan Mullally's show Wednesday night and looking for dinner rec. I haven't spent anytime down there so not familiar with best eats. There will be four of us and looking for somewhere we can sit down and have decent meal and conversation.

The obvious choices in the immediate area are The Mule, Saints, and Empire Slice House.

I'm going to the Thursday show but probably won't have time for eating out first.

I'm going to the Thursday show but staying away from eating in the plaza as to not impact getting to the show on time...

Great link. Thanks. Wish the latin place was opened. Will probably end up at either The Mule or Saints

You know, this might be the perfect time to try Rehearsal's Grill, which is technically only 8 blocks away...

We plan on a few drinks before the show and I know how much those DUI attorneys charge:) I want to get the car parked or uber in so want to stay in the area that night but forgot about rehearsals. Will have to put that on the soon to try list.

In addition to Saints, the Mule, and Empire Slice, there's also Urban Wineworks which has excellent food as well.

Might try Urban Wine Works. . .I've eaten there a couple times before Lyric.

That may not be a bad idea unless you can get there fairly early. The last time I tried that we got to The Mule about 1 1/2 hours before a show. If we hadn't decided to sit at the bar to eat we wouldn't have been able to eat there and make it to the show in time.

EXACTLY. I love the Plaza restaurants. But not on show nights. Sorry. My friends and I have agreed on Rehearsals. That includes a vegetarian that looked at the menu and gave a thumbs up.

Thanks for heads up. Hadn't really thought about that on a Wednesday night but makes sense. I haven't been to any of the places in the Plaza but guessing none of them are large places

So to wrap up, we had dinner at Saints. Food was excellent but they were out of many items. Understand items may run out as fresh food but they were out of wines and draft beers in addition to being out of corned beef and the duck. Service was attentive but one of servers needed help with bedside manner. The items we ordered were very well prepared and tasted great so the kitchen has it together. I would go again without hesitation. I got there early to make sure we had a table but we could have come in at anytime and eaten as it did not get completely full. I walked to the car about an hour before the show started and the other places had seats also. After dinner, we stopped at Empire for a slice. Had to wait on pizza but it was hot and fresh out of oven so wait was definitely worth it. An $8.00 dollar 16 oz Austrian beer, a diet cola and two slices was $16.50 so a flat 20 with tip and we were out the door very satisfied with late night snack. Will definitely be picking up pizza to take to the burbs the next time the missus wants pizza for dinner.

Glad you enjoyed the Saints and Empire!

Those are my two main hangouts anymore. Very rare I go anywhere else. I can always eat a slice (or 4 like tonight, bartender gave me an extra 2 slices that were "dead"), and Saints is always a safe bet for me as well.

I was at Empire tonight for a few hours, good as always.
