Wasn't a new Walmart planned for this area?

NE corner of Rockwell and Memorial.

This is a question about some dirt being moved closer to 122nd and McArthur, but couldn't find a better thread for it... It's the lot just south of the elder care place on the east side of McArthur just south of Sprouts. Any idea what is going there, Pete? It's right across the street from the Wild Turkey Liquor Store.

These pictures illustrate how haphazardly suburban development is done here in the OKC metro. Not everything needs to be high density, urban design, but suburban development and design can be done well and look nice with some planning and standards. Suburban development in OKC looks like it's been done by someone playing Sim City for the first time.

Does anyone have any information on recent development in this area (post hideous storage spaces at Brandon Place)? Something is underway just west of ProCure on NW corner of the intersection, and steel is being erected east of the climbing facility just south of the development on Memorial Eastbound, west of MacArthur. Pete? Anybody?
TIA

Directly east of Threshold Climbing is a 4-story Homewood Suites hotel.

Next to ProCure is Mabrey Bank (1 story).

Thanks Pete! I’ve been wondering why the opaque fencing on the bank site. Perhaps secretive for installation of vault.

Can’t find it on map nor a thread, but seeing a new building and curious what it is. This is west of MacArthur close to Memorial Rd and behind (south and east) of Hideaway on Westlake Memorial Parkway east of Threshold Climbing. Looks like apts?

Anyone?

Volcano Sushi Bar is going in the new strip center just west of Charslestons.

They have locations in Moore, Del City and the southside.

I hate this area. It's not thought out or planned at all. They just put up boxes on empty lots because there is an empty space there. And then surround them with a sea of parking.

Maybe if a developer planned this out then it would be a coherent and walkable design. Same goes for the north side of Memorial as well as the west side of MacArthur too. And this isn't the only area in the metro like this. This seems to be the standard in OKC rather than the exception. It's a poor and inefficient use of land. And it looks ugly.

I really do hate to be a negative Nelly but when I drive by a place like this, I just see wasted potential.

It's exactly like every other development along Memorial.

And I agree, it's all pretty bad.

Would look a million times better if they spent some money burying the power lines and putting in some evergreen-type landscaping along the frontage, but none of the developers / tenants seem interested in losing street visibility.

Great Clips.

I think it's going between the two restaurants.

Is that the same Pepperoni Grill as what is in Penn Square? If so, will this be a 2nd location?

Great Clips.

That’s correct. And there will be a few other store front available. So pepperoni grill isn’t necessarily taking the remainder of the space

Gold Key Service Center

Looks like a repair shop for vehicles. It will have a 6 ft. security fence around the facility.

This place is permanently closed. The digital sign says for sale in bright red.
Guess selling auto repair at dealer shop prices didn’t workout for them

Ah ok. I thought this was owned by one of the local dealership brands for some reason. Both are correct. It was owned by Randy Byford who also owned a few dealerships throughout the state. And he died a few months ago.

A new for-rent development planned for this area.

The unit shown is 2-bed but they will also have 3-bed and 1-level 1-bed units.

Looking at their site plan, some of these people are going to have to park a bit from their unit and parking will be tight in there. Not the typical parking you see with apartments you see in the suburbs. Mainly the southeast part of this development.

People living off memorial usually want to park as close as possible to units

It looks like they are going to have access to the road behind Hideaway, but I really wish they would make a connection on the west side, behind Sushi Bar.

It appears the GoldKey building will be reopening soon under a new name. Didn’t catch the name but the digital billboard said opening soo.man

also, the Homewood suites has to be the slowest construction. Reminds me of the aloft in quail.
It does appear to be nearing completion.

New strip center planned for this area.

Rendering shows Qdoba, Jo-Ann and Popshelf; it looks like the 'Family Store' will be Dollar General (owner of Popshelf) or similar:
