CT, wasn't a dig at my lovely. Purely a well deserved self-knock.

More than once when she has been away for g-babies or some of her kin I have forgotten to turn on the oven or the burner under a pan.
Sometimes I catch my distracted self in time.

Other times I simply say thank goodness for peanut butter on fudge stripe cookies and cold milk or dump fruit loops on a paper plate and share some with the pup while I chastise myself.

Kevin,
I was just having fun with your comment. I don't know you but I can tell from your posts that she's a pretty special lady.

Was in town this weekend for a birthday party and was here with a party of about 20. Everything except my main meal was perfect.

First the good. Fantastic space....we had several people from San Antonio and Dallas and they all complimented the finishes and how they did not expect this in OKC. We had two waiters and their service was great. We also had some cocktails and appetizers that were very good. I would recommend the Kentucky Punch. I couldn't comment on the noise since we were upstairs but it was definitely a lively place.

Now the bad. I ordered the lobster tail and mac and cheese. While I get they can be hard to cook, the lobster had almost no flavor. Mac and cheese was quite tasty, but it was a pretty small portion. One person's pork chop was woefully undercooked; it might as well have been oinking. My date's steak did have really good flavor but it was cool to the touch.

All in all, a really nice restaurant with a ton of potential, but for what I ended up paying (two drinks, meal, and tax and tip was $110) I was expecting a bit more. And I don't mind paying for good eats at all. I hope they revisit their menu a bit....its almost there but not quite.

Had a bachelor's dinner for 11 at Broadway 10 last night and was very impressed.

I had sushi which was very good but almost everyone else had steak and all were very pleased.

The place was pretty darn full for a Wednesday and our service was excellent. In fact, they offered to bring separate checks without us even asking, then did so with no muss or fuss.

Loved the bar area as well.

Been meaning to post my review for a while. I signed up on OKC Talk for the sole purpose of writing my review of this restaurant.

This was hands down, the worst dining experience I've ever had in OKC (I'm a mid-thirty something and I've lived here my whole life). Terrible, horrendous service. Place was WAY too loud. Steaks were room temperature or cold and had little or no flavor. Sides were all awful. Drinks overpriced. We were a party of 4 and every one of our drinks, salads, entrees, desserts and tabs were delivered to the wrong person. We either had to redirect the server or switch plates ourselves. Not one redeeming quality about the meal. Believe me, I am not a picky diner and do not need a world class experience to enjoy a nice dining experience. I still get ticked off thinking about how horrible this dinner was and how much I spent on it.

Given the other awesome places to dine in OKC, my group will never, ever go back.

From the B10 Facebook page; Francis Ford Coppola in the house.

Wonder what brought him to town?

He's been in and out of OKC several times over the last 6-8 weeks. He said he's here for a movie project. He noticed at Iron Star that we had misspelled his name on our wine list...oops! Luckily, we had it fixed the next day, as he came back in to show his buddy.

I'm guessing his buddy might have been Gray Frederickson, who produced The Godfather and who now oversees the film program at OCCC. They've been friends for decades, and Frederickson brought Coppola to OKC late last year for a speaking engagement.

If he's working on a film here it most certainly will employ Oklahoma residents and Okie filmmaking professionals, put money into the economy by hiring caterers, buying supplies, meals, hotel rooms etc.. Heck, it already put money in the pockets of Tuck and of the guys from Broadway 10. It will grab headlines for Oklahoma and OKC when a new Coppola film comes out, plus will likely expose moviegoers to the state (and the city) in new and unexpected ways. It will also surely make use of the Oklahoma film rebate program that several on this board have said is a waste of money and will never amount to anything.

Do you know anymore details? Will it be a larger budget film?

Coppola has pretty much focused on relatively lower budget films the last couple of decades. I think he actually finances them with his own money. That doesn't mean he wouldn't produce a big budget movie any more, but he's pretty much said he's not really interested in that anymore.

I know he's here for 6 weeks working with Gray on developing a curriculum for a new type of format for the film school at OCCC. I haven't heard either way about a film.

Going for my second time tonight. Great service and a great menu. I am impressed.

I wanted to review the first time I went. We went for a friends bachelor party for a dinner for 10. We had the private room (behind the host desk). We had fantastic service. The waitress was nice and gave us great recommendations. All 10 people in my group loved the place.

Can't wait to go back tonight with the wife!

Not that Hooters. It might be the worst in the chain, and that's saying something. Hooters isn't really my jam, but I'm not a hater. I'll occasionally meet someone there for lunch or grab to-go sometimes because it's logistically convenient, and every time I do it's a bummer.

But I will say you might be right about Kobe and Red Prime for dinner; most of the times I've seen him at Hooters is for lunch.

I've seen him at Skirvin a few times. Food wise I'd go Skirvin, heck even from a physical standpoint I'd still go with Skirvin over downtown hooters

Which is why it has been so odd watching him frequent the Bricktown Hooters over the years. It doesn't even compare favorably with other Hooters stores in the OKC metro. Image how poor the comparison is between it and Hooters in LA or most of the other cities he visits. I would expect an NBA player to walk in there and turn on his heel, not hang out for hours on multiple visits.

Regarding the Skirvin specifically though, it is where the team stays, so seeing him eating there should be no surprise to anyone. That also helps explain Red Prime (though the food should be explanation enough). RP is walkable from the Skirvin. Most visiting teams walk around downtown when staying here before games. Some of them develop haunts; for instance Memphis players almost always have game day lunches at Cafe 7. Many players, coaches and staff routinely run on the Bricktown Canal. I had a nice chat a while back with Pau Gasol, who was walking solo down Mickey Mantle.

I don't blame him. He deserves a quiet night out. If he starts signing autographs he'll never get to leave. When I see any celebrity anywhere, I give them their privacy. My brother was a local television sports announcer in a city and even he had trouble eating dinner in peace. My sister-in-law told me he always wanted to be in the back, in the darkest corner the restaurant had, or people would come up to him throughout his dinner. I can only imagine what it's like for a real celebrity.

Agree 100%

Autographs are kinda lame/PITA...if I was a celeb like that and someone came up like that asking for a signature, I'd say "how about just a quick photo?" you're still bothered, but people wanting autographs are just looking for a future buck, IMO

I was with someone once at Mickey Mantle's when I spotted Graham Nash and David Crosby in the foyer. The guy I was with whipped out his phone, and I knew what was next as he ALWAYS insists on talking to and/or getting a photo with ANY celebrity he runs across, even if it's someone he doesn't like or follow. It's bizarre. So I kept going right on out the door as if I hadn't seen what he was doing. When he came out he asked where I had gone; he said he had wanted me to take a photo of him and Crosby. I played dumb, like "oh, I wondered where you had gone!" Anyway, turns out that he was clueless that Graham Nash was standing next to Crosby, and proceeded to ask Crosby for a photo. Crosby shut him down by politely saying "oh, I'd love to, but don't want to start a parade...", which I thought was a great (and understandable) response.

Honestly Mickey's is probably where you are likely to see the most celebrity sightings in OKC, especially when it comes to athletes. I was there on one single crazy night when (between pre- and post-Thunder game) I saw Bob Stoops, Barry Switzer (separately), Gerald McCoy, Demarco Murray, Justin Blackmon, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, assorted Thunder players, Brian Bosworth (managed to have a drink with him as he was with mutual friends) AND Barry Sanders (who I spoke with at length as we are the same age and have a few mutual Wichita friends). This was all in the SAME EVENING.

Many, many NBA players from other teams make it their go-to on the night before a game if they are in town. I have seen Shane Battier sitting by himself at the bar eating a steak, LeBron has big entourage tables when he is in town, Chris Paul usually goes in (name-checked the place as his favorite restaurant in America WHEN HE WAS PLAYING IN NOLA FERCRYINOUTLOUD. Fergie gave the place a shout-out in Delta's in-flight magazine. I was in there one night when Cher was in there. Probably the coolest experience I had though (besides the Barry Sanders one), was when I was at the bar and the place was abuzz due to (legendary Coach) Roy Williams being with a party in the dining room. It was during the baseball playoffs, and he kept coming into the bar to watch, and every time he was leaning on the back of my barstool LOL. I didn't strike up a convo with him, but soon enough (by coincidence) Nick Collison and a group of guys came into the bar and sat right next to me. Within seconds, here came Roy Williams, and Collison jumped out of his chair, genuinely surprised. It was obvious they hadn't seen each other for quite some time. They hugged, and I got to be a fly on the wall for their convo. Turns out Williams was there for a consultation on a possible surgery. Anyway, that one was cool.

Another highlight would be getting to slap Thabo Sefalosha on the back and shake his hand after he had shut Kobe Bryant down to 8 points in a playoff game. I would have said that giving James Harden a cigar one night was a highlight, but in retrospect, eff him.

But yeah, the general rule is when you see a celebrity out, leave them alone. They should be able to enjoy personal down time just like anybody else.

I know this thread is about Broadway 10, but one more MM story: I was in there one time the night BEFORE a Thunder-Grizzlies game, and pretty much the entire Memphis team was in there eating dinner. By coincidence, while they were there Rudy Gay found out that he had been dealt to the Raptors. He had a complete come-apart, as in one of the Memphis coaches or staff members had to take him to a private room, calm him down and remind him to be a professional. After he finally checked himself, the whole team proceeds to go to the bar and bid him farewell by getting NASTY drunk. I mean, Patron bottles were filling up the trash cans faster than they could empty them. It was ugly. Some of them were falling-down drunk. Even after they left, Tony Allen stayed in there by himself drinking.

I'm not a sports gambler, but at the time I remember thinking I wish I had a bookie, because I would have UNLOADED on the Thunder based on what I witnessed. And sure enough, the Thunder drilled them for something like a 25 or 30 point deficit the next night.

Edit: just looked up the score and it was 106-89 Thunder, but the point total was closer than the game, with Memphis getting a bunch of garbage-time baskets.

Great stories thanks for sharing!.. I am the same with celebs, I don't want to bother them if they are having personal time and certainly don't want to hassle with a autograph ect. If I happen to pass them I might say hello in passing or something but nothing intrusive to take them away from their night.

That's more what I meant. Not that the service was bad, just that it wasn't on par with the setting. As in, the proper etiquette you would expect at high end restaurants that others like Red and Vast do well.

Incredible atmosphere. Average to slightly above average food. We dropped serious coin there recently and wouldn't hasten to do so again. The steaks were decent, the toppings were OK, but the sides were quite good. The service was spotty and amateur. Hard to justify spending the dough there again unless and until they commit to serving food rising to the level of the environs.

They've been in business long enough now that it seems like they would've gotten the kinks worked out, but it's been the same complaints since opening. I wonder why they haven't gotten the service and food straightened out yet. They obviously appear to be committed to quality just by the appearance of the place. Why can't they improve the quality of the service and food? The times that I've been, I've really enjoyed it. But maybe I just got lucky on my food (service was mediocre).

And people's taste profiles are different so what may taste like a mediocre steak to me may burst with flavor to someone else. A lot of people like Ruth Chris and I can't stand their steaks. That's why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors.

So, I finally had the chance to try this place and I wanted to give my review. Was there last week with a party of 7 celebrating a friend's birthday. First off, I want to say that the atmosphere is my favorite of any steakhouse in OKC. After hearing people complain, I was expecting the place to be too loud, but it wasn't even though it was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. I actually really enjoyed the open floor plan and being able to hear all the chatter of other patrons. And then you add in the big windows facing Broadway and 10th, it gives it a really cool vibe. Loved being seated next to the window and watching people and cars go by. Overall, the place had a really fun, urban vibe.

Service was excellent! Server was super friendly and patient with all of us. Had a few girls who were slow making up their minds, but server was nice. Even when splitting the bill 3 ways, she had to split the birthday couple's food and add it to ours, she never was rude or impatient about it. Much more professional and friendly than my most recent experiences at a couple of nearby steakhouses. Needless to say, she got a pretty sizable tip from me.

As for the food, I would give an a A. Two reasons it wasn't an A+. First, the calamari appetizer was pretty average. I actually felt this way about the calamari we had a few weeks ago at the Ranch as well. Not sure if this is a reflection on the overall seafood quality in Oklahoma City, but I did have the fried calamari at Bobs Steakhouse in Dallas a week ago and there was a huge difference in freshness. Calamari wasn't bad, just not high end steakhouse quality. And secondly, I always order my steak medium rare but a small portion of it was a little more medium than I normally like. It wasn't bad enough to send back, but it was noticeable. However, the tenderness and flavor of the steak was absolutely perfect. Even with part of my steak being slightly overcooked, it wasn't chewy at all and there wasn't much gristle. Complete opposite of a recent visit to a nearby steakhouse. We also had three bottles of wine of two varieties, and they were both very good. One bottle was recommended by our server, and she didn't recommend even close to the most expensive bottle. Overall, I would say this is my second favorite steakhouse in the city, right behind the Ranch. This is only one visit though, I definitely want to go back soon to make sure theyre consistentLy good.
