View Full Version : Broadway 10
I really like that they have sushi because I'm not a big meat & potatoes fan and there are tons of those places already in town.
Plus, they have a huge bar which lends itself to small plates rather than a big slab of cow.
Urbanized 12-21-2014, 02:31 PM That bar is truly fantastic. Can't wait to prop myself up on it.
Agreed! They also have a very vast selection of drinks. A nice wine list, plenty of cocktails and a large but not overwhelming beer list. It will be perfect for that afternoon drink or late at night.
Hearing all these rave reviews makes me really excited for Sidecar, which has the potential to be a special little local bar.
Bullbear 12-22-2014, 11:55 AM We had dinner at Broadway 10 saturday night. I can't say enough good things about it. we had the Meatballs for appetizer and they were very good the sauce I would love to have on pasta anytime! salads were good with tastey dressings. I had my heart set on the New york strip but they were out of it unfortunately but the Filet mignon was SOOOOO good. all the steaks come with a side and a starch and she ended up bringin us multiple sides actually. so we tried the Gorgonzola mash which was far and away the best side!. we also tried the mac and chees and the Au Gratin side and they were both really good as well but for my return trip I am sure it will be the mashed potatos. the cheesecake was HUGE and couldn't finish it but delicious and the Creme brule was spot on and probably what I would choose. Service was very good and they did very much work as a team. everyone from the door to the managers roaming around were very pleasant. being soft opening one of the managers stopped for a good chat about any suggestions or edits and i seriously couldn't come up with any with our meal. This will be a go to for a great meal for sure for us.
FritterGirl 12-22-2014, 12:45 PM I think the confluence of steaks and sushi is a nice twist. It isn't completely without precedent; Japanese steakhouses do it (locally Musashi's is an example), and Mickey Mantle's - while not doing actual sushi - often features sashimi-grade tuna. Ideologically it also meshes with having tartare on the menu, and Broadway 10 is one of the few places in town to feature tartare.
Also an option for those of us who are not carnivorous, but need options. Am going with my mom tomorrow for lunch so will report back with a review. Wish there were a menu posted somewhere. Their website only has a landing page, and there's no menu posted to their fb page as of yet. I like to know what I'm going into, particularly since my options are limited. Places titled "chop house" usually aren't too plant-friendly.

Broadway 10 Bar & Chophouse opens at the heart of Automobile Alley | NewsOK.com (http://m.newsok.com/broadway-10-bar-chophouse-opens-at-the-heart-of-automobile-alley/article/5378385)
FritterGirl 12-23-2014, 01:42 PM Lunched there with my mom today. WOW! Is all I can say. The atmosphere is really one of the best in the city, and that was just for lunch!
The architects and designers did a spectacular job and left no detail un-turned. From the placement of the bar vis-a-vis the main dining area to the furniture appointments, ceiling beams and fantastic circular light fixtures, everything screams top notch. A private dining room separated by glass from the main dining area features large black and white images of old Buicks, so they are really paying homage to the building's roots in subtle ways. Even the light fixtures could be said to resemble white wall tires (if you stretch your imagination a bit).
Since I'm not a carnivore, I asked our server if I could do a combo plate of side veggies as a meal. He said yes, and they allowed me to choose four sides to create a complete meal. Mom ended up doing the same, and the portions were HUGE. Both of us came home with goody bags.
I got the Brussels (had a bit of bacon in them, whoops), the corn with Chile Verde, the mushrooms and the cauliflower. All were beautifully presented on a single plate (again - HUGE portions), and spectacularly seasoned. I know a lot of people would think "oh, it's just vegetables," but trust me, there are plenty of places that overlook the possibility that some folks eat vegetables as a meal so often give them second shrift when it comes to seasoning.
Per my mom, who had also been there with friends during the soft opening week, many of the wait staff were personally recruited as "best of the best" from other restaurants. so management is putting a premium on high quality service.
While this likely won't be a regular stop on my dining card except for celebratory occasions (we're just more casual diners), as a whole, this is a spectacular new spot for Oklahoma City, and the ambiance really speaks to another locale. I even had a few shock and awe moments of nostalgia, thinking "this is really the OKC I grew up in??? (Urbanized knows what this means).
All in all, I'd say it's a fantastic new addition and the perfect endcap for the north side of Automobile Alley.
Thanks for the review!
I think this is one of those rare occasions where something actually exceeds already high expectations.
Urbanized 12-23-2014, 03:21 PM Tell your mom hi FritterGirl. Some of my best Christmas memories as a young adult involve you and your folks!
OkiePoke 12-23-2014, 09:27 PM Can someone take a picture of the menu and post it? I called and asked about their lunch today, said it ranged from $9 to $55.

My nephew is a bar tender there. He's very impressed with the entire setup.

Dustin 12-31-2014, 10:13 PM Beautiful.
I've heard mixed reviews about this place from friends. Some where not impressed at all. I told them they should have waited a little while so all the kinks could be worked out. Has anyone been lately?
Urbanized 01-01-2015, 10:38 AM I attended a soft opening lunch a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. Had sushi, tartare, and a really nice filet.
Visited again a couple of nights ago for cocktails. Had meatballs (really excellent) and a rainbow roll (great fish, although construction was spotty with some fall-apart). Pours were good on the drinks. Whiskey and other rocks drinks appropriately served with a single giant sphere of ice.
Bar staff was friendly, however we noted that they had a progressively harder time keeping up as the place filled (we got there before 5 and the crowd was light but by the time we left it was picking up). I was there with a respected bartender who has worked at upscale and high-volume places, and it was interesting so see the breakdown from that perspective. They're obviously still finding their rhythm.
Overall it was still a great experience. Makes sense that they are still to completely hit their stride; nevertheless there was nothing to dissuade me from coming again, and often. It is already one of OKC's great SPACES and I think soon to be (if not already) one of the city's finest restaurants.
shawnw 01-05-2015, 11:45 AM Reservations at 6pm Sat, show at 8pm. We were out by 7:35 (party of 8), made the show on time. Had the pork chops and meatballs. Very yum.
Tier2City 01-05-2015, 12:32 PM Ambience and service excellent. Food not so much - not worth the price point. Red don't have anything to be worried about if you want a good steak.
betts 01-10-2015, 10:58 PM I ate here tonight. We had three sushi dishes, the burrata and the fish of the day - sea bass, the salmon, the mashed potatoes and the au gratin potatoes as well as several drinks. All the food was superb, including the sushi, which surprised us. We ordered one roll as an appetizer, and it was so good that two people in my group ordered sushi as their main course. I couldn't find fault with a single dish - we were very impressed. No one ordered steak so I cannot comment on it. Red Prime has excellent appetizers as well, and since I've never had anything but steak at Red Prime, I can't really compare. I think it's great we have two excellent restaurants like these on Auto Alley.
foodiefan 01-11-2015, 04:44 PM hoping this is a winner for the owners and OKC!! One of the owners (A Soward) is a graduate of the OSU School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration and a fraternity brother to my sons (Sigma Phi Epsilon). OSU has produced some great food people including Ken Hess with Big Bob's BBQ in Alabama (also a Sig Ep!!).
Chadanth 01-11-2015, 05:22 PM Ate here Friday night.
We had a decent sized party, and a few people arrived early. They seated them and got their drinks without hesitation. We all got appetizers, and everyone seemed impressed with them. I had the burrata and it was excellent. My wife got the 8oz filet, med rare, And it was cooked perfectly. I had the ribeye, and it was a thinner cut. I asked for it rare, it was closer to medium, but I didn't complain. It was very good, prime beef and tender. They offer sauces, but I generally avoid that sort of thing on a quality cut. I had the Gorgonzola Mac and cheese, and it was very robust in terms of the cheese. Don't get it if you aren't a bleu cheese fan. Wife had the mashed potatoes and they were outstanding.
We finished with the creme brûlée and it was also delicious. It's a generous portion as well.
Overall, the drinks, food, service and ambiance were great. I will be back for sure.
Great atmosphere
Steaks were average
First chophouse I've ever been to that didn't have a NY Strip or TBone on the menu. That needs to be rectified if I'm going back. A choice of either a filet or ribeye does not suffice.

I was a little surprised by the limited choices on cut too. I hope they expand their options as they get more in the groove.
Chadanth 01-30-2015, 11:35 PM How do the steaks stack up to say Red Prime or The Ranch?
Haven't been to the Ranch, but Red is hard to beat. It's a touh comparison, because Red has a trendier feel and maybe slightly better steaks. B10 has a more formal, big city vibe, with great service, outstanding cocktails, but narrower steak options. Depends on the experience you want, I would say.
They can't touch the quality or flavor of The Ranch. Atmosphere is good or better than Red Prime but RP has better choice and better steaks.
borchard 01-31-2015, 07:34 AM How do the steaks stack up to say Red Prime or The Ranch?
I haven't been to Broadway 10 yet, but for me The Ranch is the best steak I've ever had, and RP is a pretty close 2nd. Right now, I'd put Ken's Steakhouse in Amber at #3 :-)
We went to the Broadway 10 last week. They were very busy.
We did not enjoy our evening. The number one issue with our experience was the noise. The architect should have called in a sound engineer before spending any money on architecture. We could not hear each other, we could not hear the servers, we could not hear the music, just the thud thud of the base. The room is attractive but that is not what makes a enjoyable experience.
I do not eat red meat but my friends had the steaks and said their steaks did not compare to The Ranch. They compared it to a glorified Charleston, but not as good. The vegetables were cold and the salmon ( which I had) and sea bass ( which someone else had) were so so. Nothing special. Deserts the creme brullee so so, the chocolate cake was awesome. But the server removed it from our table before we were all able to enjoy it (very large portion). We could not hear him come clear the table because we were leaning in so far to hear each other talk .
I would suggest this restaurant re-engineer their acoustics first; the service and the food next. We also had to stand at the front desk for quite a while because the waiting area only provides space for four people and it was full, we were a party of five and another party of four stood with us.
betts 01-31-2015, 10:52 PM My son went there and had the same issue with noise. I didn't notice it, but I've only been there early in the evening. My sea bass was excellent. I'm going to try a steak next time. It's hard to top the Ranch and Red for steak though.
Mr. Cotter 02-01-2015, 03:32 PM I was there last night. I thought the food was really good. Not spectacular, but really good. The build out is beautiful-there might not be a prettier restaurant in the state.
I did notice the acoustics. The subwoofers overwhelmed the rest of the sound system. When we first sat down, I thought a car with the bass up too loud was outside.
The service was really good. I'll be back, but the price point will keep it from regular rotation.

Nicer than Vast? That'd be pretty hard to top!
Mr. Cotter 02-02-2015, 08:15 AM I think it is. Vast is very nice (to look at), though.
Curious if this place has improved. Has anyone eaten there recently?

I've been twice. Saturday most recently. Both times the steak just came out cold-Luke warm. Sides were meh. The atmosphere is incredible and the service is good but it's no better then a $20 steak.
I want to love this place but the food just isn't good enough for the price.
OKCisOK4me 03-02-2015, 10:10 PM Damn it, I wanted to go here for my birthday...

I have almost the opposite reaction. My steak was awesome! Charcuterie platter was divine.
But it was waaaay too loud in there. Very echo-y and on top of that was loudish music. I couldn't even hear my date without leaning way over the table (which resulted in a sore back by the end of the night). It was also oppressively cold inside so much that my date remained in all her layers the entire dinner. Even I put my jacket back on halfway through.
So food= good. Ambience = not good.
As an aside, why do some restaurants seem to engineer loudness into their design?
NWOKCGuy 03-03-2015, 10:08 AM I went on a date there on the 20th and it was great! The service was awesome and the food was top notch - we both had the filet. Very noisy though I don't really mind that. I thought Stella was the loudest a restaurant could get but this is actually quite a bit louder.
bradh 03-03-2015, 10:28 AM We went on 2/13 pretty late (930pm dinner). The place itself is gorgeous. The sides were great, but the main dishes for what you pay you can easily find better for 75% the cost. My steak was very "meh."
So many new restaurants go for polished concrete floors (or similar) and hard ceilings.
There are just so many hard surfaces reflecting sound, especially in a big, open room (another big trend).
Noisy bars can be fun and add to the energy and atmosphere but I've always hated noisy restaurants, especially those that are more upscale.
onthestrip 03-03-2015, 10:43 AM Been a couple times. The sushi Ive had is surprisingly good. The shrimp appetizer that is cooked and served with its shell still on is messy and annoying. It tasted good but I dont want to eat the shell and it was too much work peeling. As far as the prime filet, lets just say that Ill stick with The Ranch or Red Prime for that. The atmosphere and service have been good each time though.
For me, I will treat it as a place for drinks and light eating, maybe to start or end the night. Not sure it will be the go to place when I want to go out for a nice dinner.

I am half deaf so that's maybe why I didn't mind the noise I can't hear so much.
How do you like your steak cooked? I like mine medium rare and both times they were lukewarm coldish. The fat on it wasn't even close to bubbling. Never had that problem at Red, The Ranch, Boulevard, Mickey Mantles or even Cattleman's. Could be because its wood fired?
I think it is because it's wood fired. I don't think they are cooking their steaks hot enough to get a good crust without over cooking the steaks. And I will not go back until they expand their steak selection, the choice of a filet or ribeye doesn't cut it in a prime steakhouse
brianinok 03-05-2015, 10:00 AM I really enjoyed it when I went. It was too loud for the size of the tables (it would have helped it I wasn't seated a mile across the table from my date...). But I didn't notice the music-- just the crowd noise. But I thought the flavor of the wood-fired steak was great. Maybe that makes it cooked at a lower temperature because mine was cooler too. I usually eat mine medium and when I go back (and I definitely will) I will likely order medium well.
soonerguru 03-05-2015, 11:54 PM Still haven't tried this. Need to, but the reviews don't sound promising.
As for the ambiance, OKC restaurants are insanely too quiet. Even "hip" establishments turn the music down so low there is literally a dead atmosphere in most restaurants. Music shouldn't overwhelm, but needs to at least be present and audible.
kevinpate 03-06-2015, 08:26 AM ... Music shouldn't overwhelm, but needs to at least be present and audible.
That depends entirely on (a) the type of music selected by the mgmt, and (b) one's definition of audible. :D
OD Law 03-06-2015, 11:02 AM I think the volume level in this case has to do with the surfaces. I-beams, concrete, and no baffling result in a din once you have a crowd in there. Some places try to resolve this by putting carpet under the tabletops or baffling in the ceiling. They may not agree that it needs to be addressed.
Questor 03-08-2015, 03:30 PM So it's kind of a mixed bag. Because they're in a high price bracket, I expect more and rate them much harder.
The pros: really awesome decor and atmosphere. The taste of the food is great. Great sushi, sides, drinks, and apps. Pleasant servers.
The cons: the steaks are cold when they come out. I disagree that it's the wood fired grill... I think the real reason is my second con. The second con is they have extremely slow service and orders get backed up. I think this is the real reason food comes out cold... They're not good at timing/coordinating multiple orders to hit at the same time, so someone's food sets while they are still cooking the second diners food. Prepare for a two hour dinner.
Yes it is quite loud there, but I didn't think it was unbearable. I don't know if I'd try to change it, it's part of the atmosphere. There were no bands or music playing when I was there. I agree it would be too much with a band.
All of the cons are easily addressed, and hopefully they will be. I did like this place a lot and do plan to go back, but they have some serious logistics issues they need to address if they plan to keep their prices where they are at.

So you would say this is more a problem of the cook staff rather than the wait staff?
I hate to hear that people have been disappointed. I haven't gone yet but am dying to. Perhaps I'll order something other than steak. You'd think with the kind of place it is that they could get good staff in there that wouldn't have this problem.
OKCisOK4me 03-09-2015, 01:26 PM I've decided to have my birthday at Tommy's. It's much closer to where everyone lives and I like the food there better. I guess I'll give this place a year and see about it then.

Urbanized 03-09-2015, 09:54 PM Enjoyed drinks and sushi there tonight. Service was great and sushi excellent.
NWOKCGuy 03-10-2015, 08:05 AM I didn't have an issue with my meal being cold or service taking too long. Really was just noise level for me. Probably wouldn't be an issue if my bf and I were dating long enough that we didn't want to talk to each other while eating. ;)
kevinpate 03-10-2015, 01:39 PM CT, wasn't a dig at my lovely. Purely a well deserved self-knock.
More than once when she has been away for g-babies or some of her kin I have forgotten to turn on the oven or the burner under a pan.
Sometimes I catch my distracted self in time.
Other times I simply say thank goodness for peanut butter on fudge stripe cookies and cold milk or dump fruit loops on a paper plate and share some with the pup while I chastise myself.
