View Full Version : Super Bowl Predictions
RadicalModerate 01-31-2014, 06:59 PM Does anyone know what the predicted outcome of this weekend's big event is?
When I used to follow spectator sports (and place a friendly wager now and then) Denver never failed to disappoint.
Mostly me.
I'm guessing "the line" is Seattle +6 but I've quit betting on stuff like that.
(is that anything close to The Official Guess?)
Just curious . . . Yet I think it may be in the cards for Seattle on account of OKC stole their Sonic Thunder.
boscorama 01-31-2014, 08:41 PM Normally I'd be for the NFC team but the exception is Denver v Seattle.
C'mon, Football Gods!
BrettM2 01-31-2014, 09:18 PM Not sure the line but here's my guess:
Broncos 31, Seahawks 21
Peyton gets MVP
Laramie 01-31-2014, 10:53 PM This will be one of the most difficult Super Bowls to predict.
Seattle in an upset:
Seattle Seahawks 37 https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTCDm7S8dLnC8uRGEdydj0RAmpbF_iOk nOnIZht64jASCDvLmAmBA Denver Broncos 28

OKCisOK4me 02-01-2014, 10:28 AM I closed my eyes to bypass anyone elses guesses...
24-17 Denver
I think Denver because the weather will be a factor. Can't guess scores, I've never been good at that.

here's a link on the lines with some bookies picks on the game

I want to see Denver build a decent lead, then watch and see if Seattle came win in a comeback.
If so, Seattle deserves it.
But I gotta go with Denver and Peyton Manning.
betts 02-01-2014, 04:06 PM I want to go with Denver and Peyton but for some reason I see the Seahawks winning. Depends on whether Denver's new and improved D can stop Wilson and Lynch. I'm going to say Seahawks 24 Denver 20, but I want to be wrong.
Dennis Heaton 02-01-2014, 06:03 PM I was pulling for the 49er's and Chargers. I think Omaha is gonna win.
SoonerDave 02-01-2014, 06:20 PM Weather isn't going to be the factor they once thought.
Seattle's defense is great, but their specialty is to stop the run, and Denver has the best four-wide group in the NFL. Seattle D must get pressure on Manning or he could shred them...will surely force a lot of man matchups that enable the kinds of individual plays these receivers have been making most of the season.
On the other side, Russel Wilson has had a very up and down year; has already shown vulnerability to what might be termed early game jitters. Seattle cannot afford to get into a scoring match with Broncos, but if Denver D forces Wilson into a fumble or bad throw and gets Manning with a lead early, it will be very hard for Seattle to recover simply because they're not designed to score a bunch of points. They'd rather eat clock and let Denver die a death by a thousand nibbles with Manning on the bench.
Ordinarily, I like a good D over a good O, but this time, I like the Denver O - Manning in particular. I'm taking Denver something on the order of 27-17, 27-20, something like that. And if Wilson makes a key mistake or two, it could be worse.
Just the facts 02-01-2014, 06:58 PM Denver 12 - Seattle 10
Scoring will go like this
Denver - Field Goal (D3 - S0)
Seattle - Touchdown (D3 - S7)
Seattle - Field Goal (D3 - S10)
Denver - Safety (D5 - S10)
Denver - Touchdown (D12 - S10)
Achilleslastand 02-01-2014, 08:17 PM You have to go with Denver on this one......
Seattle has the better defense but Denver has the better offense by far.
RadicalModerate 02-01-2014, 09:32 PM I'm still thinkin' Seattle plus the points.
But I wouldn't bet on it.
Denver always disappoints one way or the other.
At least up until today.
boscorama 02-01-2014, 10:06 PM Mile High City 42
THCeattle 0
Total points 'scored', 420.
GaryOKC6 02-02-2014, 07:30 AM I think that manning has the game of his life and Denver blows them out. At least that is what I am hoping for. I was glad to see Seattle in the SB until they wrote their whining open letter to OKC. Jenny Carlson wrote a piece congratulating Seattle on making the super bowl. Their bloggers responded with the typical whine...."you stole our team. OKC has no idea what it is like to have something stolen from them" I get the google alerts for OKC and it cam up several times. That's it, they lose on a whining penalty!
bhawes 02-02-2014, 09:08 AM I think Denver because the weather will be a factor. Can't guess scores, I've never been good at that.
Peyton has a history of playing bad in bad weather easy win for Seattle.
Soonerman 02-02-2014, 01:50 PM I hope Denver slaughters Seattle. I can't stand Seattle's coach.

I don't really follow football and didn't know that. You'd think they were better in winter weather.
OK. Just looked at the score on the internet. Seattle is laying the hurt on Denver.
Just the facts 02-02-2014, 07:30 PM OK. Just looked at the score on the internet. Seattle is laying the hurt on Denver.
I decided to watch the second half so I can witness the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.
Easy180 02-02-2014, 07:35 PM Only staying on to watch the godaddy commercial now
Watching "Groundhog Day". Looks like a certain football team will be reliving this day for awhile.
Achilleslastand 02-02-2014, 08:06 PM The first SB in recent memory where the halftime show has been better then the game. And that's saying something....
RadicalModerate 02-02-2014, 08:57 PM Well . . . At least the Broncos didn't disappoint me again this time.
Surprise the sh!t out of me, yes. Disappoint, no.
(I think the pre-kickoff line was Denver -2.5. If I was a bettor, I would have take Seattle plus the points. =)
Dang. I guess Denver indirectly disappointed me again!: I didn't place any bets.
(yawn . . . Downton Abbey is winding down on the tele . . . Time for Sherlock Holmes.)
kevinpate 02-02-2014, 10:09 PM Best comment about Manning's face I have come across tonight, courtesy of a nephew ...
"I'd say he's take his ball and go home, but Seattle keeps taking it from him."
mugofbeer 02-02-2014, 10:19 PM Geez! When does the game start?
blangtang 02-02-2014, 11:03 PM I picked Denver
I was way wrong!
Where's the eat crow emoticon?
boscorama 02-02-2014, 11:04 PM The first SB in recent memory where the halftime show has been better then the game. And that's saying something....
This time, the game was, sadly, more entertaining than the commercials!
OKCisOK4me 02-03-2014, 01:06 PM I was a weeeeeeeeeeee bit off on that prediction...
SoonerDave 02-03-2014, 01:28 PM The opening coin toss was more entertaining than the commercials. Worst SB commercials ever.
As for the game, worst SB game since...the Dallas-Buff game back in '93, except the right team won that one :)
As far as the on-field game goes, much as I loathe Pete Carrol, its hard to ignore the fact the guy knows how to put together a team and coach
em up. That defense is as ferocious and unrelenting as I've seen in the NFL in a long, long time. And Denver was exposed on every possible level - offensive line could not protect, receivers could not get open, and special teams were absolutely horrendous. Surely thought it would be a better game, but Seattle just came out with a white-hot rage and rabbit punched the Broncs into submission...
Just the facts 02-03-2014, 02:10 PM I was a weeeeeeeeeeee bit off on that prediction...
At least I factored in a safety. :)
Just the facts 02-03-2014, 02:14 PM I think the opening kick-off set the tone for this game, not because of how the result, but by even thinking you could return the opening kick-off after catching it 8 yards deep in the end zone.
OKCisOK4me 02-03-2014, 02:47 PM At least I factored in a safety. :)
When that safety was scored, I thought of you, lol.
dankrutka 02-03-2014, 03:25 PM Peyton has a history of playing bad in bad weather easy win for Seattle.
And... here is the winner. No one else predicted a Seattle blowout. Props.
Just the facts 02-03-2014, 03:41 PM Well sort of - there weather wasn't bad despite the dog sled team Joe Namath had around his body. It looked like he pulled a Cruella Deville on the losing team at the Pup Bowl. I got warmer just looking at him.

OKCisOK4me 02-03-2014, 04:19 PM Yeah, 39 degrees is not bad weather for NFL football.

Just the facts 02-03-2014, 07:22 PM I have no problem with coat myself, it just seemed a little over the top, but then again, it's Broadway Joe.
Snowman 02-03-2014, 07:49 PM Geez! When does the game start?
I don't think it ever really did

Don't they sell Men's coats where he shops?
Snowman 02-03-2014, 08:45 PM Don't they sell Men's coats where he shops?
I am pretty sure the medieval costume shop sells men's cloths too
RadicalModerate 02-04-2014, 12:52 AM I am pretty sure the medieval costume shop sells men's cloths too
Apparently you momentarily forgot Broadway Joe "The Pimp Wannabee" Naimath's pantyhose ad?
Not that there's anything 'wrong' with that . . . =)
