I stand by my point though. You want a donut at 3PM any day of the week and your choices are stale ones from a grocery store or moderately acceptable ones from DD.

I've heard mixed reviews though LocoAko 09-03-2014, 01:32 PM Even Einstein Bagels are better, and I can't stand Einstein. Disagree strongly here... but to each his own. bluedogok 09-03-2014, 09:45 PM As to whether the donuts are made in the individual store, it depends on the market and the stores themselves -- and the local ownership. I suspect in OKC most locations do not make their own and rather rely on a centralized facility. Makes sense when you have a decent number of stores in close proximity. The old locations in OKC make their own as they are individual franchises and I knew the daughter of the owner of the MWC location many years ago. The newer ones may have a mix of them as I believe part of the new franchise agreement is more centralized franchise ownership. The one closest to my house in far SE Aurora just opened up a few months ago and they make them in-store. The ones out at DIA are delivered in. There are some others around and most are in former restaurants withe more than enough room to make them in-store. If they were doing them at a central commissary and delivering them to stores I would think they would have much smaller buildings. I did try a new "gourmet" donut store Glazed & Confused on the way to work one morning, it was good but not worth $7.00 for two donuts. I just prefer traditional donuts instead of all they specialty stuff they try to put on them now. I still prefer the local chain LaMarr's better. zookeeper 09-03-2014, 10:28 PM I know everyone has different tastes on everything when it comes to food. But I LOVE Dunkin Donuts. The variety, almost always fresh, and tasty. (To me anyway.) Wishbone 09-04-2014, 01:43 PM Dunkin Donuts is good stuff! Wish there was one around Mustang. roci28 09-05-2014, 06:27 AM I thought I read a while back there were going to be 13 new locations added in the metro. Yukon/Mustang area would probably be part of that addition although I don't recall seeing any exact locations yet or even if this deal is still happening. AAC2005 11-17-2014, 07:16 PM Two months later and yeah, what roci28 said...where are the Donuts? bluedogok 11-17-2014, 09:08 PM It took almost a year from the announcement here in Denver to the time the first stores opened up. The second one in our area of Aurora opened up last week, the first one opened up a few months ago. Prunepicker 11-17-2014, 10:44 PM If you're up for a road trip, there is one Winchell's Donut House left located in Enid, OK. There's a Winchell's on S May just south of SW 59th. catch22 11-18-2014, 12:06 AM There's a Winchell's on S May just south of SW 59th. Sorry to disappoint, but that is Willy's Donut now. You're lucky if you get fresh donuts. Most of the time it's the fresh ones Up near the front of the display with the old ones in the back where he gets them. Mike_M 11-18-2014, 08:47 AM Dunkin is less about donuts than it is about coffee. I know major coffee snobs that all agree Dunkin's coffee is great, plus it's less than half the price of Starbucks or any local place. They are also usually a lot faster of a stop than traditional coffee shops, which is great for the morning and afternoon rushes. Prunepicker 11-18-2014, 05:27 PM Sorry to disappoint, but that is Willy's Donut now. Bummer. When did it change? catch22 11-18-2014, 06:19 PM Bummer. When did it change? A few years ago. I loved Winchell's. Bummer is right! bluedogok 11-18-2014, 09:55 PM There are still a few Winchell's up here in Denver, in the old style stores. Prunepicker 11-18-2014, 11:00 PM A few years ago. I loved Winchell's. Bummer is right! Really? I thought it was still a Winchell's. Probably because the build is the same. It's the same building, right? At any rate, when I was a kid the location is where Billie's Tastee-Freez was. We played baseball directly across the street where the apartments are. Prunepicker 11-18-2014, 11:05 PM It's been a year or so but the last time I was at DD they didn't have the "Dunking Donut". The cake donut with the 'handle' on it. Bullbear 11-24-2014, 10:44 AM I never understood the hype of Krispy Kreme. people in OKC were in lines for hours. people brought boxes of them to the bars even passing them out.. was very odd and I didn't care for them myself. I prefer DD and love the Coffee. have been going to the one at 36th and May for probably 15 years and they do make them on site at that location I know. Chocolate Creme filled is my favorite! corwin1968 11-24-2014, 12:13 PM I'll be happy to just find out where the new restaurants will be. We live near Quail Springs and love their coffee so we are wondering if it will be on the western end near Hideaway, on the Eastern end near Cabelas or North of Memorial where we live. TheTravellers 11-25-2014, 02:16 PM ...Chocolate Creme filled is my favorite! If I find out you're the one that bought them all a couple of Saturdays ago and left none for me, man...... Ah, that would explain why there was a different guy there that looked manager/owner-ish instead of the guy we saw when we first went there, thanks for the info. Bun was still good (and fries), but everything else between the buns just didn't have much taste. Irma's is our go-to burger place, their No Name beef, hickory sauce, bleu cheese, and bacon burger just kicks the crap out of Patty Wagon's, absolutely no contest. I think it was the appeal of something that OKC didn't have and it was new. The same with Dave & Busters. People on this board longed for a D&B for years. Now that OKC has one, I never hear anything about it. I never talk to anyone who goes there. I'm sure it does a well enough business, but after the new wore off, it cooled quite a bit. If they ever built a In n Out in OKC it would be the same way. You'd have people lined up for miles for the first couple of weeks but when the new wears off, people realize that they've had just as good or better burgers at other places and In n Out becomes just another restaurant. It was the first time that I had been to one since the Dallas Walnut Hill Lane location when I lived there in the early 90's. I have never been to the location on my side of Denver and never hear anyone say anything about it but the parking lot always is pretty full. roci28 12-04-2014, 06:21 AM The Donut thread is now talking meat and burgers??? LOL traxx 12-04-2014, 09:58 AM How about a Drunken Donuts? A place where you can get beer and donuts any time of day or night. Joe Kimball 12-12-2014, 01:38 PM The Dave and Busters here is more or less the same as an adult Chuck E. Cheese. Where other locations have pool tables and even bowling lanes, this one omits them -- not so much as a "bar box" pool table when I was last in (this may have changed). The new place off Western, forget-the-name-but-I-tried-to-get-in-during-their-preview-and-the-wait-was-too-long, competes almost unfairly in my opinion. To be germane, the handled donut has been gone for some time from DD. I miss them; it was like getting something extra (perhaps why they left). Stickman 12-12-2014, 04:56 PM Back to DD. Stopped in the one in Edmond on Broadway this morning and have to say I was impressed. Quit going years ago but have a change of heart now. Spacious, clean, and offer a good breakfast menu and adequate coffee selection. The drive-thru had about 8 cars in line so I went in and was served promptly. Wish they would put one in downtown. Only a couple of cars in drive thru but I like to browse the donut cases so went inside. For starters the place was trashy. The dining area was barricaded with tables and chairs like they were defending against the walking dead or something. Two people working inside but both completely ignored me. Waited a bit and said hello but neither even turned to look. One waived a hand like she sort of knew I was there. Waited longer and finally left. Maybe in another year or two I'll try a DD again. Some exceptions are places like Chik-Fil-A, Canes and surprisingly, Whataburger. Ghengis Grill, Five Guys, Smashburger, and at least one or two other restaurants were places we tried in other parts of town, only to find the Quail Springs area locations sucked.
