Didn't read the article but Polaris owns Indian brand now. They make some great bikes under the Victory brand. I have owned a KingPin for a few years now. Maxeys Honda sells the Victory lineup. I would imagine that they might be involved with Indian also but haven't heard. Jones Offroad in Jones Ok. also sells the Victory brand so they might be another place in the city area. Indian is not a big enough brand at this time to stand on their own so they will need to be coupled with other MCs.

These will prob. be the best Indian motorcycles ever produced IMO.

I stopped inside of Maxey's a couple if month ago assuming they would soon be an Indian dealership. The salesman I spoke with said there likely would be an Indian point here but it would not involve Maxey's. It seems the Indian strategy is to steer clear of existing Polaris and Victory dealers, which is actually surprising to me since the network already exists. I suppose they think by separating dealerships they will see less cannibalization.

In following the launch of Indian (admittedly mostly via a Triumph message board), it seems that a lot of Victory owners are upset with Polaris for introducing advancements on Indian that they have been asking for on victory for years, basically bypassing victory, which is no cheap brand by itself. Though the Indians are beautiful, I'm not a fan of cruisers/baggers so I'm hoping they release a modern version of the Scout to compete with the HD Sportster models and the Triumph Modern Classics like my Bonneille. I think there is still room in the segment and it would be nice to see an American manufacturer in the standard segment NOT named Harley.

Regarding the building at the NE corner of 10th and Broadway: you're right, Pete, I think it would be an excellent location, though a modern dealership would certainly need an additional building for service, make ready, storage (assuming the showroom made use of the upstairs too).

HOWEVER, I heard a few weeks ago from a reputable source that a deal is done on that space for another retailer. I was even introduced to the owner of the proposed store, though we didn't discuss the store or the location.

I don't see how they can open a Indian dealership only and survive. Maybe they can couple it with Victory and make it work but just don't see a stand alone Indian dealer. Others have tried to revive Indian's and failed but with Polaris money backing it the brand should survive for years now. I do know that they are/will be top notch and can compete against the best on the market.

Maxeys sells quite a few brands and I can see why they wouldn't want to put Indian in there. In fact,I think it's time for Victory to start standing on their own or at least at Polaris dealerships instead of mixed in with cheaper rice burners and such. Nothing wrong with rice burners mind you but Victory is an American built back and seems out of place with Yamahas and others. I am hoping Victory/Indian dealerships start popping up.

I don't know. He seemed to indicate it was corporate strategy, but who knows how accurate that was?

I can say that there really seem to be some 2-wheel dealership opportunities in OKC right now. No BMW dealer (I think Maxey's picked up Ducati), no Indian dealer (yet), no Triumph dealer (Performance Cycle still services them and has relationships with other Triumph points, but lost their dealer flag), and no Vespa dealer. All of those brands except Indian are stalwarts, and I expect Indian to be VERY successful.

Well, there goes the theory that they won't bundle Indian and Victory. By the way, to each their own but as far as I'm concerned those Victory baggers are hideous.

I think bundling the two would be a great idea for Polaris. Indian is going for the nostalgic look while Victorys almost look like something you would see Luke Skywalker on. Really two different markets.

I was never a fan of the Victory Vision. Way to futuristic for me. I hear they are great bikes but not for me.

I am wondering when Maxeys used the word bundling if they were talking about bundling Indian with the Jap bikes like the Hondas and Yamahas ect. they sell? Because I wouldn't want Indians sitting in the same showroom with Hondas either. Now couple them with their Victory brand makes perfect sense to me.

I have owned a Victory KingPin for the last 7 years or so and they are great bikes. Sold an older Fatboy I had and was gonna buy another one and decided on the Vic after checking it out.

BMW is going to try another store here in OKC? I'd like it if they did, but their first location was a horrible spot. I wasn't surprised to see it close up.

That's great news about Triumph (I will selfishly opine). The brand is the hottest it has been in 40+ years. It's a shame Performance didn't reinvest and maintain the flag.

The location didn't help but it was far from the main problem.

I had a 2000 Triumph Sprint before I bought the 2012 Kawasaki Concours14, a few months before the new Trophy came out.

Just confirmed the Indian dealership is going into 7 NE 10th.

It's the first building directly east of the RR tracks and presently unoccupied.

They have yet to file for their build-out permit but I'm told it won't take them long to get the space ready.

This is directly north of Kamp's 1910:

I like the Victory sci-fi art deco bikes. If they came with phasers and photon torpedoes I would but one in a heart beat. I got hook on Triumph's from the show "Then Came Bronson". Although this is our preferred way of alternative travel: 6968

I got hooked on Triumph's from the show "Then Came Bronson". My first Harley was a Sportster because I wanted one just like Bronson rode. But that didn't last long before I wanted a bigger one.

They did a nice job inside.

Saw my first one close up the other day, parked right across the street from the new dealer. Beautiful bike. Just too much for me (too much bike AND too much $$). Besides, I'm not crazy about leather fringe. Seriously, I wish they would bring back the Sport Scout. Cruisers/baggers just aren't my thing.

I think that is a '38. Indian made beautiful, beautiful bikes. Looks like the new company is committed to maintaining that heritage. I just like bikes that are a little more nimble than the ones they are bringing to market right now, like this Chieftan:

I personally have my doubts that this brand and dealership will make it. I would think a Vespa dealership would be a better fit for the location and surrounding population.

Agree! That's why I bought one! I cringe when I look at that '14 though; it has standard a bunch of things that I have paid lots of $$ to put on my '13, at basically the same MSRP. Mine will be cooler when it's done though. Check that. It's already better.

Brett, I think the Indian brand will do very, very well. They are aiming at the sweet spot that H-D has had near exclusive rights to for several decades, they have a venerable brand, they have I very high quality product thanks to years of Victory production, which also gave them factory/dealer experience, and the styling frankly kicks the ass of most current H-D products. The fact that they are American iron is going to make a lot of H-D loyalists take a look; folks who wouldn't consider a brand like Triumph, Ducati, BMW or a Japanese brand. I think they are positioned for a home run. As far as the location of that dealership, I agree that something like Vespa, Moto Guzzi or Triumph would have appealed more to the "cool kids" who frequent downtown, but it has fantastic interstate access and high visibility on a major arterial street. I think as long as they remain the only Indian point in town they will be fine there.

The last two attempts at resurrecting Indian resulted in bikes that were built from a grab bag of parts and were ridiculously expensive. With Polaris behind this resurrection they are building a bike that can be trusted and is priced in the ballpark with Victory and Harley. I think they'll give Harley a run for their money.

It looked really cool! In fact, everything was just great last night. Took a drive around and saw like 4 different groups of 10+ people on Spokies throughout downtown, fair amount of foot traffic, steady car traffic, and all of the construction going on was incredible! This was at 11:30p to, so the scene was awesome!!!! Great building and great sign, I just wished the other circle one lit up also.

Yeah, wish it had been more of a standard without the controls so forward. But 100 HP is a head-turner nonetheless.

I stopped by the dealership a few minutes ago. They will have one to sit on (not ride) in late Sept and a demo sometime in Oct. The first for sale bikes arrive in December, and all are presently reserved. They are taking $500 nonrefundable deposits to reserve the bikes.
