That's because the Farmer's Market is an important Icon of OKC.
Only a total idiot would want to get rid of it. It's not like it's the
totally worthless Stage Center. C'mon.
OKCisOK4me 01-04-2014, 09:42 AM Well there goes my parking spot at bridal shows.
amaesquire 01-04-2014, 09:54 AM Excellent. Here's to hoping it spurs more development in the Farmer's Market area.
tomokc 01-04-2014, 10:52 AM This bodes well for the Farmer's Market district. Entertainment will attract people who have never (or rarely) visited this part of the metro. Kudos Jody!

catch22 01-04-2014, 11:10 AM I think this is a little premature for this area (and the entire core -- spreading our districts out too much before any are densified), but I hope this is successful.
OKCisOK4me 01-04-2014, 11:11 AM I see the walk-in cooler but where's the kitchen?
catch22 01-04-2014, 11:21 AM Maybe it's a sushi restaurant. LOL
I originally called this a restaurant/bar but it will probably be a club/bar and might not serve food at all.
Urbanized 01-04-2014, 03:18 PM So...it's largely outdoors? This is exciting. I've said for probably 3-4 years to friends that I think the Farmers' Market area is the Next Big Thing, with the right vision and investors. Wish I had the dough to be a bar pioneer over there.
Garin 01-04-2014, 03:53 PM Is it where the sterling market was?
Skinny Slim's has demonstrated that a very small bar with a larger outdoor area -- if done right -- can be very successful.
If Film Row could get a bar or two on it's western edge, a bridge between these two districts could be formed.
Spartan 01-05-2014, 12:00 AM ...depending on what happens with the boulevard.
Found another rendering for this project:

The Klein exit ramp is open now it literally spits you right out within a 1/2 block where this place is going to be.
Garin 03-11-2014, 04:14 PM Talked to the guy opening this place last week. He is a musician by trade, said he wants to offer live music, food trucks, and booze. He thinks they will be open by this June. He has a website called medicineparkmusic.com , seems like a pretty cool guy.
Sounds great!
Wow, the food truck business in OKC is getting ready to explode.
Urbanized 03-11-2014, 04:30 PM Hmm... ...he was in Love County. Interesting.

Said he has interior demo approved and hopes to start on exterior in another week or two.
^
Thanks!
This is actually a Clay Berkes project, the musician that proposed the seemingly dead Cherokee Fiddle that was to be in the Uptown area.

Good one...

It might be OK to patch that hole in the wall in the corner. ;)
sooner88 04-19-2014, 05:20 AM I went to the Farmer's Market on Thursday for an event and was reminded how great of a venue that is for concerts. If run by the right person, I think that it could become our Cain's Ballroom. I saw one concert there in 2005-2007 (Galactic) and it was a great show, and even more interesting venue.

I think they will catch a lot of business from events held at the market. You won't have far to go for the after party!
Slowly but surely, this project is still moving forward.
This is from https://twitter.com/JR_MollzFlem and the doors are 100 years old:

zookeeper 08-03-2014, 11:55 PM Are there still antique and collectible stores inside the Farmer's Market?
Mr. Cotter 08-04-2014, 08:17 AM Yes, there are still several.
(Those doors look great!)

This makes me happy.
EDIT
I hope the exterior stays intact. So much character.
These doors are exactly what I was talking about in this post.
Obviously, there are things that need repair and replacement, but the existing building has a wonderful patina of age and history. This photo gives me hope that the designer appreciates this characteristic and is doing their best to respect it. Kudos.
OklahomaNick 08-04-2014, 10:37 AM Very interesting location choice to put a bar. Very little population density near by.
This area is on the cusp of up and coming, but it is still a ways off in my opinion.

I imagine that right now it will mostly cater to the pre- and post-event crowds at the Farmers Market.

It's only a mile or two from the bulk of downtown's population. If it's a cool bar, people will go especially with film row adding residential. It isn't that much different then driving from midtown to Bricktown or vice versa (or uber/taxi/etc).

Somebody's got to be first down there!
Also, because the area is very far removed from housing and really anything else that would be open in the evening, there will be tons of parking, no worries about staying open late and can blast music all they want.

It definitely worked out fine for chris lower and good egg!

_Cramer_ 08-05-2014, 02:25 PM I can't wait for this to be completed! Also, I hope others realize this area has potential and hope I will see it come to fruition.
This project continues to move along.
Welcome, we are going to be opening a little space in the Downtown Farmers Market with food, cocktails, and music. We will have a great selection of wine and coffee too.

CuatrodeMayo 08-19-2014, 03:01 PM I'm in love with those doors.
I'm really excited about this project.
That area is so cool in an authentic urban grit sort of way and because there is no housing around, they can do all types of things with music, food trucks, festivals, etc.
And it looks like they are doing everything they can to maintain the original charm of the historic structure.
I bet this turns out to be a big hit.
Urbanized 08-19-2014, 03:41 PM I'm in love with those doors.
Agreed.

metro 08-19-2014, 07:31 PM Drove by today, this project is moving at a snails pace. Anyone know why the delays?

I'm in love with those doors.
The ironwork on them is fantastic.
I think this place is going to be one of the coolest in OKC.

Noticed this place today it sits on the corner of Reno and Klein , I guess it's been open for a few months now. Really nice looking build out on the old place. Looks like another good addition to this part of town.

They've been open for a year or so I think, I think they just upgraded some signage.
Urbanized 09-10-2014, 11:47 PM Yeah, I was going to say a year or so. Longer than this thread has been going, anyway.
Signs should be going up soon:

They are making steady progress and hope to be open sometime around Thanksgiving.
