View Full Version : If the mayor election was to be held today, who would you vote for? Midtowner 12-27-2013, 04:33 PM If the mayor election was to be held today, who would you vote for? (closes in 14 days) Plutonic Panda 12-27-2013, 09:52 PM Mick soonerguru 12-27-2013, 11:39 PM I voted. mkjeeves 12-28-2013, 03:05 PM Two things...there was a similar poll here maybe a week ago. Not much has changed. Second, Needs an other choice. Im sure some have decided to reject both candidates or not vote for whatever reason other than undecided. I dont think theres much question Mick will be reelected. I can't guess what voter turnout will be. Spartan 12-28-2013, 04:36 PM Gotta love these threads, the only way I get a vote lol soonerguru 12-28-2013, 07:30 PM Unscientific or no, loving these results so far! Midtowner 12-28-2013, 08:35 PM The number of votes is surprising. It seems there are a lot of lurkers who follow these threads. soonerguru 12-28-2013, 08:40 PM I'm wondering if "Undecided" can overtake Ed Shadid. It's pretty close for second place. betts 12-28-2013, 08:54 PM I also think that what's impressive about this is that this forum probably has a more progressive bias than the average population of OKC. These aren't just Republicans voting for Mick because Ed is more liberal. As I've said, all the Democrats whom I know are voting for Mick as well. All the smart young progressives I know are voting for Mick. The lurkers aren't voting, however. There's an old statistic that for every forum member who posts there are 100 who don't. For every member there are 100 lurkers. Perhaps some members who don't usually post are voting, but the lurkers can't because they aren't members. If you could extrapolate this data, and you probably can't because all the Ed supporters will vote and a lot of Mick supporters, sadly, will assume he's going to win, you could predict an unprecidented landslide. bchris02 12-28-2013, 10:16 PM It's important for Mick supporters to vote. Ed supporters will all be voting so if Mick supporters stay home, Ed could end up winning. Anybody who wants Mick Cornett to remain mayor of OKC, no matter how the polls look, needs to get out and vote. ljbab728 12-28-2013, 10:23 PM It's important for Mick supporters to vote. Ed supporters will all be voting so if Mick supporters stay home, Ed could end up winning. Anybody who wants Mick Cornett to remain mayor of OKC, no matter how the polls look, needs to get out and vote. I suspect you're preaching to the choir here. Everyone needs to bring this up to people they know in person. soonerguru 12-30-2013, 12:40 PM Undecided is catching up. catch22 12-30-2013, 03:41 PM Undecided is catching up. Certainly looks like the race is tightening up between the undecided and the misled. PhiAlpha 12-30-2013, 04:25 PM Certainly looks like the race is tightening up between the undecided and the mislED. There, fixed it for ya  soonerguru 12-31-2013, 12:28 PM I realize this is hardly a statistical sample, but these results suggest Shadid is going to get crushed in this election. Pete 01-03-2014, 10:38 AM The number of votes is surprising. It seems there are a lot of lurkers who follow these threads. Over 90% of our traffic is unregistered on the site and of those registered, only a small percentage posts with any frequency. We get about 5,000 unique visitors every day and are approaching a million page views per month. bradh 01-03-2014, 10:57 AM All the smart young progressives I know are voting for Mick. All the smart young conservatives/Republicans (I know, for some of you that probably sounds like a unicorn or four leaf clover) I know are voting for Mick as well. Those voting for Ed are the gullible and misguided. shawnw 01-03-2014, 11:01 AM We get about 5,000 unique visitors every day and are approaching a million page views per month. Is there a pinned "stats" page for you to report such things, or do you keep any kind of google spreadsheet with these numbers with graphs and such? Pete 01-03-2014, 11:10 AM Is there a pinned "stats" page for you to report such things, or do you keep any kind of google spreadsheet with these numbers with graphs and such? I plan to do a monthly "state of the forum" blog once we fully initialize the blogging feature later this month. We run Google Analytics in the background and have incredibly detailed information about almost everything imaginable. We know the percentage of those accessing from mobile devices, fluctuations by day and time of day, how people find the site, how long they stay, the pages most visited, where they are located, and on and on. Also, for the first time I did a tiny bit of advertising on Facebook and Twitter -- basically promoting a few of our more popular threads -- and Facebook in particular gives you astoundingly detailed information about who you reach. By it's nature, Facebook knows more about you than any site and they are becoming an advertising force. Anyway, more on this in a couple of weeks. It's all very interesting stuff. PhiAlpha 01-09-2014, 08:57 PM Oh no, i think I've just been convinced to vote change my vote to Shadid... Edgar, you have a new friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXFt-L1oLL0&feature=youtu.be soonerguru 01-09-2014, 09:58 PM Undecided has now caught up to Shadid. soonerguru 01-09-2014, 09:59 PM Oh no, i think I've just been convinced to vote change my vote to Shadid... Edgar, you have a new friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXFt-L1oLL0&feature=youtu.be Wow. Not a fan of this ad. CaptDave 01-10-2014, 12:06 PM Ugh.....that has the jewelry store Christmas jingle stench. Negative style points IMO. Doesn't say "this is 2014 and let's keep moving OKC forward" to me. But maybe since I am in the minority about the BC Clark thing, it will appeal to people. zookeeper 01-10-2014, 12:36 PM What a rip-off. It worked for John Kennedy ---- in 1960 (and was much better done). This Cornett ad is absolutely horrible. Come on Mick! http://youtu.be/JLXTB_S193w mkjeeves 01-10-2014, 12:37 PM Seems like the former employee of a high profile ad agency could do better but he's probably got it in the bag so it doesn't matter much. On the same note, I happened to be driving around Edgemere and neighborhoods thereabouts yesterday and noticed a couple of Ed yard signs. My wife mentioned my neighbor had an Ed sticker on their car too. I've yet to see a Mick sign. He doesn't need those either. citizenkane 01-10-2014, 01:51 PM Oh no, i think I've just been convinced to vote change my vote to Shadid... Mick would be wise to hold off on the signs until a couple weeks before the election, noticed when it counts, after Ed's have blown down, faded, and otherwise become common litter. foodiefan 01-10-2014, 07:23 PM PA-leese. . . tell me this is a joke. . .a hacker. . .a ???? Beyond Bad. zookeeper 01-10-2014, 07:47 PM Though the Kennedy ad I posted is considered a classic of campaign advertising. But again - that was 1960. This Cornett ad from '04, '14...is just small town. soonerguru 01-10-2014, 09:28 PM PA-leese. . . tell me this is a joke. . .a hacker. . .a ???? Beyond Bad. As stated up thread, it's from his 2004 campaign. Blame Phi for posting it. It's not his current ad. zookeeper 01-10-2014, 09:31 PM As stated up thread, it's from his 2004 campaign. Blame Phi for posting it. It's not his current ad. No, it is! He just meant they used the same thing in 2004. (Well, I think) Look at the ad again, it's got the MickCornett2014.com in the ad. But that might just be a video for youtube with the old song over it. citizenkane 01-11-2014, 02:09 AM No, it is! He just meant they used the same thing in 2004. That's what I thought until I saw the 2014 on in the video. If he's not using it this year that's good...but even in 2004, come on man. Dennis Heaton 01-11-2014, 01:57 PM Mick is my pick. |
