Quite a bit of development right now is going on in far NW OKC near the Gaillardia area near the intersection of Memorial and MacArthur. Most of this has been discussed in other threads like the Memorial development rumored to be anchored by Costco, but this area is so far from that it really shouldn't be in the same thread. I am creating this thread to hopefully keep track of some of what's going on. So far we have the following.

Charlestons (completed)
Earl's (completed)
Hideaway Pizza (completed)
Sushi Tsulaki (completed)
Revolve Pizza
Tommy's Italian American Grill
Bobo's Chicken
Starbucks (completed)

Did I miss anything?

Hopefully with all these restaurants some other retail will follow.

Bobo's Chicken?

Is that a brick and mortar location or are they parking their trailer up there?

I think you mean Golden Chick, in the old Carl's Jr. spot.

This may have already been posted. I was just looking at the county assessor's website and I noticed a Hawthorn Suites is planned near the Apartment Complex next to Martin Nature Park.

I'm confused. Is Hawthorn Suites a restaurant?

No, its not. It is relavent to the discussion because it is in the area of where this conversation is discussing. I didn't think it was necessary to start a new thread on a hotel that may or may not happen. Hawthorn owns the land, however, they could easily sell to someone else.

It's not a big deal but there are other areas where the subject of a new hotel might fit better than on a thread about restaurants.

I'm planning to do a big write-up summary about the entire West Memorial corridor; from about Portland westward.

Lots going on and it's hard to keep it all straight.

Blah sprawl. And you wonder why OKC blows? It's a neighborhood thing. If I had settled down in Cleveland's suburbs and not downtown I'd hate it too.

You should worry more about Cleveland and less about OKC.

Not all sprawl is created equal. Some suburbs are actually cool, its just OKC, for such a suburban town, doesn't really even do suburbia well. There is a lot of money in the west Memorial/Galliardia area so I am hoping eventually it sparks some major high-end retail developments like what was talked about Pre-2008. Had those developments not been cancelled, OKC's retail woes would be solved by now.

That has been said more than once on a Sunday morning.

- Revolve Pizza
- Tommy's Italian American Grill

I'm guessing Revolve is one of the buildings next to Earl's. There are new buildings on both sides - is Tommy's is going in one of the other new buildings?

I had hoped the Memorial corridor would be better planned. Or planned at all. But it looks like a hodge podge just like other developments in the area. It looks like someone is playing Sim City and just dropping restaurants here and there. It would've been so nice for all this new development to some cohesive flow.

That was something that was wierd getting used to my first few months in OKC. The layout of the developments in Charlotte just made sense. Here, not so much. Like you said, it's like playing simcity and just plopping everything down. I think it simply goes back to the "no standards" aspect of OKC development.

I hope all of this doesn't disturb Martin Nature Park too much. My Grandkids love that place and we go there often. I try and use every trip to throw in a lesson about respecting nature.

Im pretty sure it will have zero effect on the park. there is already apartments and a neighborhood right up next to it

How would (I'm assuming) design standards change who buys what and develops what on it? What would you change? Is the zoning not to your liking? Truly, I'm ignorant on this issue. What can one change except for the zoning? and what should the zoning be? In fact, here's my real or best question: What are the zoning options?

Is Golden Chick still happening at 122nd and MacArthur? Progress has been stalled on the remodel for the past several months and nothing seems to be happening.

It was like that for the longest time at their new location in Yukon. I think it'll move along eventually.
