Noah's Event Center is coming to the Quail Springs area with plans to build a 10,050 square foot facility at 14017 Quail Springs Parkway.

This will be Noah's 10th location, with others in Texas, Utah, Colorado and Arizona.

They specialize in hosting all types of events like weddings and corporate meetings.

Interesting concept and location.

It is interesting that they would want to tuck this back in the corporate park area. Maybe this is a strategy.
It's a little easy to get lost on those roads back in the office park.

Im sure people mostly think of weddings and receptions when they see this but Im betting most of the daily events will be business meetings and such.

Company Christmas parties without having to go downtown...

Lots and lots of weddings and not that many decent venues, especially out in the suburbs.

I bet they do very well here.

Plenty of suburban wedding chapels, etc. I find this one rather odd, and needing visual appeal for weddings, although I could see plenty of suburban corporate meetings here.

The problem with the wedding chappels is they want a minimum group number or they want to charge an arm and a leg for their services. If the prices are right, I think this is a great concept. I think OKC could use a few more of these type places. It appears it could host from a few to a hundred.

I would think a place like this would be 100 times easier to decorate and function for a wedding than a chapel. Sure you would want the tradition of a chapel, but uniform box halls has their advantages. You could have the wedding and reception in the same hall without the restrictions and rules of certain churches (which can be a sticky subject for some people).

They had filed for bankruptcy in May 2019 and as of February 7th, have closed all 30 of its locations, including the one in OKC.

Investors are accusing the company of fraud: https://www.sltrib.com/news/nation-world/2019/06/19/tax-haven-wedding-venues/

Big stink here in Denver about it. Abruptly shut down stealing tens of thousands from booked events and weddings. Bad deal.

It's a very similar story to The Falls, another event center that was to open in Bricktown but is also mired in an SEC investigation.

FWIW here in Oklahoma City I've heard that BRIDES have lost THOUSANDS of dollars in venue rentals due to the closure, and also a CHURCH who was using the space has had to find alternative arrangements for its Sunday services. VERY bad business practices if you ask me.

Always always always always always ALWAYS pay for that stuff with a credit card. Most will have protections against this and get you your money back.

As someone who is currently going through the stress of planning and paying for a wedding, I can only imagine how much of a panic I would be in if something like this happened to me. I actually went to an event at this place a couple of months ago and had no idea they had filed for bankruptcy.

Man, judging from the article posted above, this sounds like it could well be part of a really big Ponzi scheme, with new "venues" opening up only to the minimal extent necessary to show some sort of actual ongoing activity. Judging from that article, it looks like they were recruiting investors to new properties that either didn't exist, or were "planned" (people saw lots of nice pictures) but the actual facility never materialized.

This is gonna get ugly for a lot of people. Really sad.

Shockingly, opening a chain of event venues all with the same generic name and marketing them primarily for weddings to brides within a generation that hates chain anything (except maybe Target), especially when it comes to a day that they want to be uniquely their's...didn't end well. Add to that the fact that calling anything NOAH's, whether unintentional or not, brings up religious connotation when a decent portion of your target market includes couples that have chosen not to have their wedding ceremony in a church, likely LGBTQ couples, and a society that is in general becoming more secular.

Those obviously aren't the primary reasons Noah's failed but from a marketing standpoint, they were really putting themselves at a disadvantage from the start.

Just did the same. It was stressful and expensive with the venue in place. Can't imagine how awful it would be to find out you have to start over months, weeks, or days before the wedding.

If the article linked above carries with it a ring of truth, it appears that actually creating event centers and marketing them legitimately wasn't necessarily their prime concern. There are allegations they were taking the monies from current investors to show "returns" to existing investors, and then (again, allegedly) showing pictures of non-existent venues (and checks to existing investors?) to prospective investors as a means of recruiting them in. I think the nominal allegation that is likely to follow is that the centers that were built were done so minimally so as to perpetuate the notion of legitimate, ongoing enterprise, but the prime operation was to use new investors as front money to pay dividends to existing investors. Only time will tell if this was just a badly executed business plan or if a more sinister motivation was at hand.

Again, all "allegedly," but it certainly looks like a case could be made for, minimally, overpromising and underdelivering. And when it all came crashing down, lots of people have apparently lost a lot of money.

Well the lack of effort they made with their venues would certainly support that theory.

Just happened to find this article about Noah and an existing attachment order issued in conjunction with a preliminary court action relating to a fraud suit against the corporate founder. Starting to sound *really, really* shady.

Ned's Catering (also owns Ned's Starlite Lounge on N. May) is taking over all the OKC weddings booked through Noah's.

Will honor all deposits and contracts and use the existing Noah's facility:

Major props to both Neds on this. I can’t imagine it’s going to net them as much as a normal wedding they cater. It’s pretty generous on their part.

How are they able to use the existing Noah's facility?
If I own a small store and my competitor goes out of business, and they are being investigated for fraud, I can't just go onto their property and reopen it.
Can I? If so, that is a game changer. Someone in oil and gas should go after squatters rights in an empty CHK building.

Ned's came to an agreement with Noah's which still owns the property, even though they are closed.

Apparently Noah’s sold the property here to a group out in CA which leased it back to them and Noah’s has stiffed them for about the last year. I’m sure they gladly worked out a deal with Ned’s with the hope of making some of that money back.

That makes good sense and restores my understanding. I will cancel my plans to occupy CHK with a shell corporation.
