He wants 4 doors. So M3. Badass...But CTS-V's are in the same ballpark and WAY faster. And cooler. And you can get one IN A WAGON!.

/will probably own one of those in the next 5 years. In Opulent Blue

I'd look long and hard at the SS if I were looking for a 4 door that hauls balls. They get decent mileage too.

I love the SS! Now, if funds are no issue, I'd recommend having a gander at C63. The only downside is it isn't offered in diesel here yet. :/

The C63 might be my favorite sedan on the market right now.

Looks like 2017 will bring in the Tesla Model III. If they sell it for 35k like they plan this could be a pretty big deal.

so... i'm about ready to part with my beloved tahoe. i priced a 2015 ltz and found i could get a really nice car for around that amount of money. plus, i rarely haul around people and stuff anymore, so i don't really need an suv anyway. i'm looking for a sedan that has some power under the hood and definitely something that isn't going to be in the shop all the time.

so, okctalk... what should i look at? what should i avoid? -M

well... i ended up finding a great deal on a used 2013 gs 350. i saved around $17k from what i would've paid for a new 2014 with roughly the same features... and i ended up with exactly the paint and interior i was looking for.

love the car so far. only problem is with the trade... so... in oklahoma, the lienholder has the responsibility of filing the lien release with the dmv, right? 'cause i paid my last car off sometime in 2009 and the credit union is still listed as a lienholder. it's no fun cleaning this up but would like to make sure that it's not my fault before turning up the heat. -M

Holy hell, I was going to say THIS!

Since I'm single though, I'd go for the coupe, all black with black crome rims...preferably red underneath.

If the field brings success, I will purchase one of these to drive around in the city on my days off.

That thing is a beast and that control interface is unbelievable. At around $59k, it's the best deal in town for that amount of horsepower. They just recently announced that the Hellcat package will be available in the '15 Charger as well.

You said: "Is there the feature where you can your rpm's to each gear?"

That sentence doesn't make sense. I think you accidentally a whole word. :D

Tons of cars have shift lights. Cavaliers in the 80's had shift lights. My car has them...But they're shut off.

I'm talking about the giant screen interface that controls music, displays, HVAC, and a host of other things. Dodge has been using it in their vehicles for a while now. It's pretty whizbang stuff to the eyeball, but I hate it. It requires taking your eyes off the road to do anything (this is my only gripe about the Tesla, it's turrble about this as well)...Some things, require entirely too much time to accomplish because they're two or three options deep and require you to read and understand before pushing each one. That's unsat for road use in my opinion. I much , MUCH prefer tactile buttons. At least the HVAC in the Dodge stuff also have hard buttons.

My truck suffers from it a bit too. It has the nav w/bluetooth setup. Which is okay at best (not bad for a factory unit, that's for sure). But when I get a text, it changes the screen and tells me I have a text and gives me options that I have to choose from before I get my music display back. It's infuriating. IT DOESN'T COUNT AS HANDS FREE WHEN I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY DICK AROUND WITH MY F'N STEREO FOR EVERY CALL AND TEXT.

Oh, and my stereo is a ridiculous distance from the driver's position.

If I turn it off, I can't use the hands-free talking feature...Which is actually very useful.

The new z/28 is cool and the interior is pretty simple for the most part. Air conditioning is optional and you can get single-zone manual ac for a couple thousand extra I think.

The new Z28 isn't really a road car either. It's a Captain Insane-O track car that's barely DOT legal. It's also prohibitively expensive.

Yeah I def agree with you on that. No way in hell I'd pay 75,000 for a Camero. Here I thought the ZL1 was pricey.

Oh GAWD the Smell!
08-24-2014, 02:04 PM
Oh, it's worth it. It's an awesome car.

HOWEVER.

They just announced pricing for the new Z06.

It's under eighty grand. For 650 horsepower in a world-class chassis. I think it looks f'n fantastic too. I've driven a few of the regular old 455 horsepower C7 Vettes, and they're pretty much the best car I've driven (and I've driven more than a few).

78 grand and change for that car is a steal. Oh...And you get all that with a 100,000 mile warranty.

EGADS, I'm not even a big Corvette fan, and I may just wind up owning one of these.

Upped the horsepower by around one Toyota Camry, stepped up the quality of the chassis in a big way, improved the looks, vastly improved the interior, and only increased MSRP from the last generation Z06 by two thousand dollars.

WAY TO GO CHEVY.

Sorry man... I don't think 75,000k is worth it for a Camero.

The Corvette, yeah, they could have that one 90,000 and it still would have been a bargain. With dealer mark up, you might end up paying that anyways.

Oh GAWD the Smell!
08-24-2014, 03:15 PM

Geez...

I get tickled how people who already have a very high-end car will double-advertise what kind of car it is. Just yesterday we were sitting at in intersection and saw a newer Mercedes (the ones with the logo made into the grille). Just below the logo on the grille was a front plate with yet another Mercedes logo on it. Um, OK, we get it.

Or the people who have, say, a BMW and then need to get a vanity plate that also says "MY-BMW" or some such verbiage.

Whatever makes people happy. I guess I just fall into the less is more category and prefer to be a bit less obtrusive.

Oh GAWD the Smell!
09-16-2014, 10:14 PM
The front plate was probably stuck on there by the dealer. If you have a front plate frame, and it's empty, they'll stick an advertisement in there every time.

Yeah you're probably right and most people aren't so particular about it. I think I need to chime in on the thread where people are discussing their OCD. When my car got here it had a front plate cover which I promptly removed, leaving two tiny screw holes in the bumper. The car is black so they didn't show at all but I knew they were there and couldn't stand it. Luckily the dealership was kind enough to send it to the body shop. :)

I got to sit in, play with and mess around with a Chevrolet Colorado this weekend.

And I have to say, pictures (including the one I took, posted below) do not do this truck justice. It is very, VERY nice. I'm pretty sure that it'll be my next truck (when I no longer have gargantuan car seats in the back). And it'll be available with a small turbo diesel in 2016...Which I'd be willing to put money on that coming out to close to 30 mpg on the highway.

Great interior, good seats (and these weren't even leather), a decent sized bed on a crew cab...Even had great leg room in the back seat. I'm close to 6 feet, and had my friend, who is 6'1", sit in the front, and I was quite comfortable in the back. I wouldn't want to ride back there for 17 hours, but my knees weren't jammed into the front seat or anything.

I was really impressed with it. The want is strong.

I have my eyes on the new Colorado. I've been a Silverado guy since 2000, but they just really underwhelmed me with the new redesign. I don't know if a midsize truck will work, but I'm willing to look at the Colorado. I've been thinking also about the Ridgeline, just not sure if I want to pull the trigger there either.

After sitting in all the new full sizes at the fair, I must say, the damn Dodge's are pretty solid these days. I've heard they've corrected a lot of their prior quality issues.

Oh GAWD the Smell!
09-22-2014, 02:38 PM
I think Dodge has the best truck interiors out there right now, and by quite a margin. But I can't speak about their quality, and I was only looking at the top of the line truck (well over 50k).

I've been a full size Chevy truck guy for over 20 years...And I bought a Tundra this go-round, simply because of how giant the back seat is. Turns out...It's also a pretty damn good truck :D

I seriously was pretty "yeah, that's a decent looking rig, and sounds good on paper" about the Colorado. That changed within 10 seconds of seeing it in person. It's a great looking truck. It usually takes a while for new trucks to grow on me, but this was pretty instant. I spend more time in this than I did the C7 Vette that was sitting right by it. Actually...I never even sat in the C7 (full disclosure: I've driven one of those, so it wasn't new to me :D ). A disproportionate amount of time was spent messing with the Colorado, considering where I was lol.

bradh
09-22-2014, 03:09 PM
Well with the cost of full size trucks just out of control these days, that's what got me curious about the Colorado. I was really leaning Ridgeline for a while, but I know they are not making any new ones currently (I think) and I'm not sure when the 2016's will be ready for sale. I've got some coworkers who swear by the Tundras, but the interior just feels so cheap.

Oh GAWD the Smell!
09-22-2014, 03:30 PM
The 07-13 Tundras have that cheap-feeling interior. Go check out the 14's. Completely turned a corner there. They're pretty nice.

I added leather and stuff though. It's better now.

The trucks I really like would be the Raptor, Rumble Bee, or an early 2000's F150 Lightning.

Not really a pure truck, but I really wish I could get my hands on an HSV Maloo. I almost had a chance to drive one when I was Tijuana a bit ago but I missed it. :( I did get stupid with a Focus RS500 though. That car is insane!

Oh GAWD the Smell!

I'd sell every vehicle I own for a proper Maloo. I've owned two El Caminos, one of them was my first car...So I'm in to cartrucks for life :D

Lightnings are awesome...But very dated. Much better out there in the truck world these days. They were mid to high 14 seconds in the 1/4 stock.

I'd buy a Raptor, but I can replicate that truck's capability on any platform for 10 grand less. Of course, that's with no warranty, and it probably won't look as good as a Raptor :D Guy across the street from me is on his third Raptor. He drives them like a $5,000 beater truck.

2015 Z06 performance stats

Headlining the new stats released today: 0-60 mph in just 2.95 seconds—when equipped with the 8-speed automatic transmission. We’ve driven this transmission in the standard Stingray, and found it to be a remarkable option--one that can, in some conditions, compete with and even beat Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch system.

The new Mulsanne variant retains Bentley’s enduring 6.75-liter V-8, but output has been turned up to 530 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which is delivered at just 1,750 rpm. That’s up on the regular Mulsanne’s 505 hp and 752 lb-ft, and is enough to rocket the big sedan from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds—simply incredible considering the Mulsanne Speed has a curb weight of almost 6,000 lbs! And if you keep your foot on the pedal, you’ll eventually hit a top speed of 190 mph.

Bentley is also proud to announce that the efficiency of its V-8 has also been improved by 13 percent, based on CO2 emissions. The Mulsanne Speed emits 342 grams of CO2 per kilometer, with the efficiency gains translating to about 50 more miles of driving range from a single tank. Bentley quotes fuel economy of 12/19 mpg city/highway and 14 mpg combined.

And that's with PS2's on there if I'm not mistaken. Put some genuinely sticky rubber on there, and hang the hell on...Your eyeballs are going to ooze out of your ears.

I'm seriously considering buying a Z06 in the next couple of years. That's one crazy machine, and a helluva bargain.
