That is super sexy. Nice touch to have the LEDs going in different directions on the 2 boathouses.

The design is really cool.

Just 3 more boathouses to go!

Technically the building between the OU & UCO while it is similar construction methods and atheistic will not be a boathouse, since there is zero boat storage in it. From what it sounds like if there are any boats in the Whitewater Center building, they will be in the gift shop.

I'm aware of the rumor that there's an OU boathouse coming, and I think there's an indoor surfing building coming, but what's the left to build down there besides the grandstands? Besides OU, are there more boathouses coming?

It is not a rumor on the OU boathouse, more a matter of time, they raised several million dollars for it (it was said to be fully funded a couple years ago, the final lease details was reported as going to the board of regents last year, then pretty much no new details have come out since then)

The main building for the whitewater course is going where they were once considering a boathouse for an undisclosed fourth university, the site is to the east of OU roughly the same distance between Devon and the UCO boathouse. There will also be more of a large shed for the rafts. Though it was cut out of MAPS3, the plan for the whitewater land has a small kayak only boathouse on the far east of the site, which will likely be completed with private donations.

In the longer term, there has been talk a few times on building something near the ramp connected to 4th street eventually but seems likely it is lower priority than the other buildings.

Thanks for the reply, snowman. Does anyone know when work on the indoor surfing building is set to begin?

I'm not sure, but the indoor surf park was part of Sandridge's plans and I would guess they aren't going to be building anything extra anytime soon due to the condition their company is in. Like I said, I'm not sure this was Sandridge's deal, but I am pretty certain of it. Can anybody confirm?

Noticed the yellow LEDs the other night, nice touch getting away from all the blue at least a little.

Rode by tonight and noticed that they have more of a prominent public-facing "rear" parking-lot side (or would that be "stern") entrance than the Devon, which makes sense I suppose.

I was at the boathouses last week and work was being done on the dirt work for the Sandridge building'. It will be located directly south of the Rumble drop, slide, etc. A worker told me the construction will start very soon.

Is the Sandridge building affiliated with any university? Is it a boathouse or something totally different?

From what has been said it is mostly for the high school or under programs but (other than the surf thing) should be fairly flexible space, though outside of race events it seem unlikely the colleges would need a meeting hall that large. Since no boats are stored there, it is not technically a boathouse, though it pretty much uses the same build style/materials as the boathouses.

I thought the Sandridge "boathouse" was going to have the indoor surfing venue.

That's also what I thought...

Pretty sure the indoor surf park has been scrapped and they are working on revised plans for the pavilion.

Not sure if this is due to the struggles at SandRidge, who was the primary benefactor of the project.

Took a few more shots of the boathouse from a slightly different perspective. Thought you might enjoy.
