We went last Sunday about noon to look at the art. At that time, there were not very many people there. Everyone on their staff was friendly. The restaurant is beautiful. We're looking forward to going back for a meal. We had friends with us from Texas. They were really impressed. It made us so proud of our city. This makes me happy. :) Bellaboo 07-21-2016, 08:57 PM Son and daughter in law from Seattle went when they were here over the fourth. They thought it was great. shawnw 07-22-2016, 02:09 AM Do we know how it's doing, business wise? Occupancy and such? mkjeeves 07-22-2016, 08:04 AM I just don't understand the thinking of making it a private suite as opposed to a space for the whole city to enjoy. I was really upset when I first saw the plans because that little building up there is tailor made for a rooftop bar and that is a big part of the 21c's. It's like they went out of their way not to do it for some reason. Very strange. It's not that great of a space, IMO. The parapet wall to the north is over head-height and is really tall to the east, so the skyline is cut off above the ground horizon plane. The wall is shorter looking south and there is a view, but most of the existing windows didn't face that way. They tried to make the most out of the structure they had to work with, two adjacent shells with somewhat low headroom and different floor levels. They raised one about two feet to match the other and they built a deck around it which elevates people a couple of feet and helps with the view but it still isn't anything spectacular. There is a penthouse boiler room on the roof to the east and it is surrounded by mechanical equipment, a cooling tower, HVAC units. If I paid premium price for that space, I personally would be disappointed. (Other than the fact it's much larger than a regular hotel room and has a large deck.) There is a great view out of the 4th floor east suites, especially the NE corner, and actually probably better views out the windows of the bar and restaurant at street level than from the roof. Plus better access. mkjeeves 07-22-2016, 08:13 AM https://s31.postimg.org/lrkh48unf/Suite.jpg Out of frame to the right is pump/boiler penthouse and mechanical equipment. Pete 07-22-2016, 08:17 AM How cool would that be as a rooftop bar??? <sigh> Anonymous. 07-22-2016, 09:12 AM OKC has a really weird lack of developers wanting to do rooftop setups. Which is really strange, considering how well places with patios do here. Pete 07-22-2016, 09:18 AM ^ But there have been a whole recent rash: Packard's Guyutes Above Rawhide Above Plenty OKC Museum of Art Cafe do Brasil O Bar And to come: Cultivar and Yuzo. Anonymous. 07-22-2016, 09:20 AM Isn't Pump Bar also adding one? It seems like in the last year or two is when the thought finally popped up, like "oh yea! We do have a cool rofftop to make money off of." Pete 07-22-2016, 09:22 AM You may be thinking of the little raised deck being done at Power House. Anonymous. 07-22-2016, 09:25 AM Yes, I have no idea why I said pump... Haha Urbanized 07-22-2016, 11:21 AM To me 21c could also do a rooftop bar on the WEST side of that rooftop structure. There is tons of space, and a door that opens directly to it. The only problem is that the service elevator that runs from the rooftop to the kitchen on the first floor is on the east side, actually inside one of the hotel rooms. John Knight 09-08-2016, 03:55 PM The patio is looking nice! 13007 turnpup 09-09-2016, 01:24 PM We bicycled over there last Friday night and had drinks. It was great, and what a nice view you get of the skyline. Our only complaint (and we realize this is probably for security reasons, at least until the area is more populated) was that there is a door directly to the patio from the outside, but it was locked. We had to go all the way around to the restaurant entrance, then walk through everyone who was inside eating (and we were in our grubby exercise clothes) to get there. It was kind of embarrassing. The really bad part was that a cocktail waitress working the patio told us we had to go through the inside, when all she had to do was open the door to let us in (it's only locked from the outside). She knew we were coming there for drinks. Anyway, it's a cool space. BG918 12-11-2016, 11:00 PM I enjoyed a quick stay this past weekend, it's definitely a very unique hotel experience! It reminded me of W Hotel'S I've stayed at in other cities. Loved the high ceilings and big windows. Only downsides were I had a west-facing room (no view) and the walk between the hotel and CBD is pretty desolate and feels further than it actually is. The area has a lot of room to grow but currently is not the most convenient for going places downtown unless you take an Uber/lyft. I went on a date here last weekend and its just simply sublime. So, what I enjoy upon walking through the door (similar to OKCmoa), there's an interesting piece upon walking through the door that actually is some sort of glass clock mechanism. There's a modern/industrial theme within the interior design of the bar. TV's adorn the bar area in case you want to keep up with any score on a game. Seating between the bar and the first floor art gallery but its important to note both entrances I saw had employees there to provide insight into the museum and bar/restaurant ; so you won't find a bunch of people wandering around lost. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the white pillars inside the museum and the white walls which contribute to flowing with the art viewing experience instead of distracting from it. Lots of intriguing pieces of art. My date preferred to read the description before partaking in the art but I found it more enjoyable to study and partake in the art and then comparing my perspective to that of the artist. I forget the artist's name but there's a piece where two women are sitting on the floor knitting a cloth with henna art/writing on it that screams to me how in their culture they may not always be encouraged to have a voice so they were inclined to instead transcribe those thoughts into the cloth they were knitting. And it just spoke volumes to me. I would say that was one of the few if not really the only piece that truly pulled me in AND matched the description offered by the artist. And although I wasnt "pulled in" by each particular piece I still wholeheartedly enjoyed the entire exhibit. Exposed beams and the flooring carried throughout the exhibit only further encouraged what I choose to recognize as an industrial themed design. Another piece worth mentioning was the wedding gown piece and how each gown offered intricate yet contrary viewpoints to the perspective of the dress next to it; contributing to the reality women (even human beings for that matter) are not monolithic. I just.....I don't know, I find this place to be phenomenal. Even the landscaping outside of this place is neat and yet unique with that tree outfront. So, to see the picture you just posted and how it translates to the experience i enjoyed here in modern times....I am at a loss for words with how transformational this spot is. Its a place I could see myself visiting at least 2-3 times a month just to take in the art and catch something I haven't noticed previously and to enjoy the ambiance there. Tons of millenials like myself there and wow what a buzzing atmosphere. This might be my favorite spot in OKC now. And whats funny is you have the Jones assembly right behind it and of course all that film row has to offer so this area will only improve; not to mention the new sunshine cleaners place which I have yet to experience. Nomination for the best restoration/renovation in OKC history? OKC_on_mines 08-25-2017, 08:38 PM Long time ago when this project first hit the newswire I read some old stories on it and the original uses. But still vaguely familiar though. DoctorTaco 09-18-2017, 09:47 AM Finally made it to Mary Eddy's last night and wow. Last nights' meal is now in the running for the best I've had in OKC. I had a duck breast in a sort of green-chile lime posole. My wife had an exceptionally delicious piece of beef brisket. The appetizer of Naan and acorn squash hummus was amazing as well. Service was efficient but odd. We did not ever have a set waiter. The entire staff seemed to have interacted with our table at one point or another. I did not get the sense that this was their standard M.O., but rather that some roiling chaos was going on behind the scenes somewhere. That said they hit all their marks (nothing was messed up, apps and salads came out one time and as-ordered and they kept our drinks full). It was just...kind of weird. okatty 03-19-2019, 07:33 PM 21C distributed this today: 21c Joins MGallery Today, we’re sharing some exciting news.
